African Orange

African Orange from Equilibrium Genetics stitches California citrus swagger to classic African vigor. Bred by crossing Agent Orange (Orange Velvet x Jack the Ripper) with an Heirloom Malawi, this mostly sativa cultivar stretches tall with long internodes and big, trellis-hungry colas. In the garden it finishes in about nine weeks (early October outdoors), rewarding dialed-in growers with notably heavy yields. Aromatically it leans into sun-rind citrus and musky orange peel layered over a faint gassy note - an expression often associated with bright, limonene-forward profiles. The dried flower carries that same orange-citrus impression on the palate with a subtle diesel edge. Onset tends to be bright and energetic, lifting mood and focus while keeping conversation flowing; many phenotypes land on the uplifting, talkative side of the spectrum with only light dryness as a common drawback. The African Orange mother described by the breeder was big and stretchy and produced some of the largest outdoor plants seen in the Emerald Triangle; the selection went on to appear in The Emerald Cup (2015, 2016) and the Santa Cruz Cup (2016).
