In the heart of Mendocino County, California, Jason Matthys spearheaded the creation of Equilibrium Genetics in 2012, a venture that has since distinguished itself in the realm of cannabis genetics. The company's ethos revolves around the meticulous selection and cross-breeding of cannabis strains from around the world, focusing on preserving the genetic diversity and heritage of cannabis. This dedication has yielded a rich catalog of seeds that blend heirloom, landrace, and hybrid varieties, aiming to enrich the genetic pool accessible to enthusiasts and growers alike.
Matthys isn't just a breeder; he's also a fervent activist for cannabis policy reform, with a history of impactful activism in Virginia and California. His efforts have not only been about creating quality genetics but also about advocating for patient and cultivator rights, influencing local and national cannabis policies.
Equilibrium Genetics has made its mark by offering a spectrum of distinctive strains, such as AC/DC Glue and African Orange, showcasing their commitment to genetic excellence and variety. Their products are widely available across California, signifying their influence and reach in the cannabis community

This strain is danky. I got the dark green, the lighter green, the one that turned purple, the short and bushy one. I experienced about 3-4 phenotypes or different expressions on the same genetics. The last one I cut smells like Guayabas (guavas). 2-3 of them have that distinctive gas smell from the sour diesel side I guess. The two that I LSTd came out guava smelling also...leaning towards the orangey smell. The yield was good (about a pound each) for the ones that I grew solo in the 30 gallon and 45 gallon pots. The 2 that got LST grew together in a 30 gallon pot and gave less (about 4-5 ozs), but the quality was still good and they only grew like 18" off the ground. The Cut The harvest was easy since the plant is not too leafy. Honestly-- you can just hang dry it for two weeks and then clean it and smoke it. The herb dries quick. When you jar it up--it does require daily burping at first and then starts to level off on the humidity after like 7-10 days. Smoke. The plants that I cut late in the season when the trichromes were at least 50% Amber came out potent and flavorful. Sleepy time weed. Hits hard and quick. Good for those with high tolerance The two that I cut early in the season when the trichromes were milky white hit smooth and mild. The high lasts long and you are energetic and functional. I liked both effects. Early and late season.

She was easy to grow and was a monster from the start. Had a issue with reveg that may of contributed to the rot but live and learn. Started turning a little purple with the colder temperatures and the smell has a nice fruit(cherry?) smell with a some funk but no cat piss☹️

A sweet citrus smell with some earthy gas in the background. Smokes sweet and piney intake with a hash gas exhale. Take a couple puffs and in a few minutes your mind starts to feel the effects, a uplifting mental high kicks in and a relaxed body high that both last for awhile. Great strain!

Harvested on day 62. Earlier then wanted to but I just noticed my intake air filter was F’d up and allowing light leaks. There are a few hours that this dark tent overlaps with another veg tent in the same room. Rookie mistake. Noticed some regenerative growth and trichomes were already milky to 10% amber across the board so it’s not the end of the world that I’m chopping 3 days ahead of schedule. I am a firm believer in bud washing. I grow organically, in soil, with intake filters and a very clean room. However it’s undeniable that with all the air movement within the tent, with carpet fibers being sucked into the tent anytime it’s opened, Etc,. that shit lands on sticky buds and gets stuck. Dust, soil, hair, carpet fibers, etc. I see it in nearly every photo posted here even by the best growers. You can see hair on their bud. You can’t see the dust and shwag. Bud washing is controversial, but I am a convert and firm believer after seeing what comes out the wash. Case in point - look at the photos I posted. There is a shot of three clean buckets, the first contains 5 gallons of warm water with 1/4 tbsp of fresh squeezed lemon juice and baking soda each. Look at the after shots. The entire plant stalk is dipped and gently swirled In bucket 1 (lemon/soda) for 10-15 seconds. Excess water is allowed to drain off for a few seconds before this process is repeated in buckets 2 and 3, respectively. Buckets 2 3 contain clean, and cooler water than bucket 1. After the third dip the plants are treated the same as I would had I not washed them. Hang dry in my small dry chamber at 60% Rh and 55*F for 10-14 days. Then onto cure with bovedas and glass jars. I’ll post update on this with dry harvest weight in about 2 weeks. Bottom line - I take pains to ensure a clean environment. I also recognize it’s not a sterile/sealed environment and shit gets thru. I grow sticky icky buds. Stuff gets stuck to it that we can;t see with our naked eyes. Wash your buds, just like you would your food, and it will taste better. Taste cleaner. Burn cleaner. Will blow your minds when you see the crap stuck to your buds that is left behind in the water buckets. No major terp loss in my experience. Key is being gentle and following the temp protocols. I’ve run the dirty water through bubble bags and found next to no Trichome heads kicked off during wash. After all, outdoor flower gets rained on late flower all the time and it doesn’t fuck up the trichomes - though it can bring mold issues.
