She emerged from her shell 3.5.25, and after 205 days of life, I cut her down with loppers this past Friday, 9/26/25.
She withstood a heavy rain this last week, and I am very happy to report there are no signs of mold. With all of the challenges this plant has faced this year, I have to say, this strain is a very easy outdoor grow.
The buds have a beautiful pine/citrus smell so far, and I'm looking forward to what the final product will be!
***Update 10/26/25***
Fruity Freak E (FFE) produced 121 g of dry flower, more than 40 g’s better than any of the other Fruity Freak plants I grew this year. In addition, the flower was more resinous and flavorful.
The increased yield may have been a result of the lack of re-vegetation (which the other plants did experience). Additionally, the higher phosphorus levels in the 3-1-2 fertilizer I provided for FFE, as compared to the 5.3 - 1 - 5.8 ratio I gave to the other plants, may have also impacted yield. Either of these may also account for the increased resin, but I could not say for sure.
The flavor difference could be a result of using a soilless potting mix for FFE. This may have produced the clearer fruit profile as compared to the blended soil mixes I used for the other plants (which resulted in a more earthy/woody experience). While this earthy/woody flavor can be complementary for some strains, I like this particular strain better with those flavors minimized.
Due to the superior flavor and smell, I have decided to enter this plant’s buds into a home grow competition (this will be my second year) in my region. I don’t anticipate winning, but I really enjoy meeting other growers to share tips and tricks, as well as some great buds!
I am still finishing out this plant’s clone and will post another update on my other Fruity Freak diary with that plant’s final dry weight and any differences from growing that plant under grow lights, growing it for a shorter time period, and growing it later into the fall (with several frosts already having hit without issue). Her yield looks like it will be solid for sure!
Otherwise, my notes on this grow are identical to the other grow: Growing this strain was super easy–it was so resistant to pest and disease I could have easily given them way less care. They were definitely a bit of a slow start, and maybe not the biggest yielders, but they have earned an annual place in my garden.
The buds are a bit smaller and fluffier than I expected for plants of this size (granted, I did not trim back enough of the small stuff, especially on the bottom). They are also not the most resinous on the exterior–so they may not have all the bag appeal. But they have an insane concentration of red hairs, and they can be a bit of a grinder jammer due to resin on the inside. The berry smell in the jar flows beautifully into the smoke, and remains balanced in the profile. Notes of cranberry, raspberry, with a hint of mint and light tobacco ripple across the tongue. The flavor is so pleasant, and the smoke so smooth, the effects can sneak up on you. A bubbly energy begins flowing as a pleasant euphoria takes over. The only strains I could think to compare it to are Thai Lights and G6, but Fruity Freak has its own trippy twist. At times I get sensations of time warp and dynamic perspective shifts. I am really impressed with the potency. The combination of flavor and effect have made Fruity Freak my new favorite strain by far–I can’t wait until it fully cures! I’m also looking forward to experimenting with it in edibles—I have a chocolate recipe it would blend beautifully into.
