Plants that are too far from an adequate light source will respond by accelerating stem growth in order to get closer to the lamp themselves. Especially when there are many other plants. A lack of lighting can easily cause overcrowding in a growing chamber, reducing the steady progression of your crop and the distance ratio between your bulbs and your plants. To address this problem, be sure to provide enough light to your plants to prevent stem growth. At the same time, you should not position your lights too close to your plants either since this would also result in an over-stretching of the stems and in some cases, the loss of your crop. In addition to the distance between the light source and the plant, the type of light you will use also affects the size of the stretching of your crop. The orange and red lights encourage stretching and result in thinner, larger stems. And conversely, blue light stimulates a growth of thicker stems and a smaller size. When a species is ready to enter the vegetative phase and undergo its most drastic stretching period, metal halide lamps can be used to deter far too long stems. THE HEAT Heat is another essential element that can determine the stretch size of your plants during vegetation. Temperatures above 27 degrees push the stems to lengthen more and more and will propel the potential of sativas to push as high as possible. Heat lamps that are positioned too close to plants create an intolerable environment that will grow large, soft plants that will potentially wobble until they fall and lose flowers in its fall. OTHER CAUSES OF STRETCHING There are multiple variables that can lead to the stretching of plants beyond what could normally be expected of the plant. Environmental stressors resulting from transplantation (when a plant passes from one pot to another) can cause the plant to return to shock. This will eventually trigger a reaction causing a stretch. Cannabis plants that are not grown in decent conditions or do not receive enough nutrients will respond in a variety of ways and this includes stretching. Crops that are not spaced far enough apart are likely to stretch to sting the light to other plants. Due to extreme proximity, the plants will fight among themselves to reach the light, forcing them to expand as much as possible throughout the crop. HOW TO CONTROL STRETCHING DURING FLOWERING Stretching during flowering, you guessed it, takes place when you move your plants from the vegetation stage to the flowering stage. This is a completely normal reaction, as your plants are preparing to bear the weight of their heads. Stretching of a plant at the beginning of flowering varies widely; some plants can double in height while others grow only a few centimetres. There are, however, two main variables that can give you at least an idea of how your plants are stretching during flowering, and how much. Here are these two variables: Variety: Genetics has the greatest impact on the size of your plant. In general, sativa varieties stretch more than indicas and tend to develop long, slender stems. Light: Some lights, such as HPS, are more likely to encourage stretching. In addition, great distances between your canopy and your lights will cause the plants to stretch as they try to get closer to the light source. Stretching during flowering usually lasts the first two weeks of the phase. To minimize stretching, keep your lights between 10 (for CFL) and 30 centimetres (for HID) of your canopy. Finally, choose indica varieties if you have a smaller growing space. HOW TO AVOID STRETCHING In many cases, you can expect your cannabis plants to stretch during the flowering phase. Keeping that in mind helps to make a plan in case your species ends up growing much more than you could have imagined. If the information is available, get information on the standard size of your species and compare it to the size of your growing space taking into account the necessary distances between the bulbs and the plants. TRAFFIC While outdoor crop operations benefit from natural air to naturally limit stretching, indoor crops must assume the maintenance of air circulation within a confined space. Basic ventilation is enough to help the cannabis stems strengthen and become thicker rather than too high. In this way, the plants continue to grow vigorously without reaching heights and at the same time, your tolerance ceiling. MANUAL INTERVENTION For growers who want to get their hands dirty, there are physical procedures that can be done to reduce stretching. Similar to the natural effect that the wind has on cannabis plants, manually bending the leaves and stems will cause tiny cracks in the plant's tissues that will cause the plant to focus on regenerating its wounds instead of its vertical growth. THE TOPPING Topping is a form of manual intervention on cannabis to influence its performance, shape or size. In essence, topping is a process in which a new node is cut, growing from the plant to reduce its size and create a "v"-shaped notch that will eventually form two heads. Topping may be an effective measure to combat stretching, but it is important not to do so when the flowering phase begins. In most cases, an abnormal stretch of cannabis plants will not completely destroy your crop. In fact, stretching can indeed help increase your performance. For growers with a growing operation large enough to contain tall plants, stretching can increase the total yield of a species with more vertical space for head formation. In both cases, stretching can easily be planned in advance and there are multiple solutions to help you with this problem which is all too common. Was out of town all week and came back to find the CBD Star in my space bucket not looking good. It looks like a phosphorus deficiency but not entirely sure. Yellow leaves with brown/black spots and dark red/purple stems. I flushed it with 2 gallons 6.5 pH water, re-fertilized, put it out in the sun and defoliated. I defoliated pretty heavily since many of the fan leaves were yellowed and blocking light from the lower bud sites. The center was also getting pretty dense so I carefully removed some of the leaves to help with airflow. Despite the stress, It seems to have bounced back reasonably well. There’s probably irreparable damage given the level of yellowing but the buds continue to grow and thicken. Cheese has absolutely exploded and looks great. It probably doubled in height last week with many bud sites on the 5 main stalks. Excited to see how it turns out.

Es war eine sehr gemischte Woche mit viel Regen, etwas Sonne und eine Menge Wind. Die Durban Poison lässt sich davon wenig beeindrucken, sie ist am Stock festgebunden, steht kerzengerade und lässt ihre Buds weiter anschwellen. Leider habe ich bei sehr genauem Hinsehen doch ein welkes verdrehtes Blatt in einer Blüte gefunden und dieses mit der Blüte sofort entfernt. Weiteres Untersuchen brachte aber keine weiteren beginnenden Schimmelstellen zum Vorschein. 100% schommelfrei ist sie also nicht... Das Wetter ist jedoch sehr schimmelförderlich zur Zeit. Ich freue mich schon auf die Ernte, in ca. zwei Wochen dürfte es soweit sein und und dann benötige ich viiiel Platz zum Trocknen. Die DP ist dieses Jahr etwas kleiner als im Jahr davor, was sicherlich an der Düngemenge im Topf in der Vegetationsphase liegt. Entscheidend wird sein, ob das Entlauben etwas am Erntergebnis verbessern wird. Letztes Jahr hatte ich mehr Blätter an der Pflanze gelassen. The Durban Poison is not particularly affected by this; it is tied to the stake, stands straight as a die and continues to swell its buds. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection, I did find a wilted, twisted leaf in one of the flowers and immediately removed it along with the flower. Further examination revealed no other signs of mould. So it's not 100% mould-free... However, the weather is very conducive to mould at the moment. I'm looking forward to the harvest, which should be ready in about two weeks, and then I'll need a lot of space for drying. The DP is a little smaller this year than last year, which is certainly due to the amount of fertiliser in the pot during the vegetation phase. Great strain for beginners, easy to grow don't require too much attention or special techniques . She will grow fast, gorgeous and smell very very strong, I didn't think I was going to be able to harvest more than an ounce (because this is my first time) but hey, I'm very happy with my 41G! The buds were skinny but dense in flavour, I wonder why the buds didn't get fat, its because of my LED panels, or genetics? Overall I recommend this strain for first time growers!

Still pluckin leaves here and there but overall we’re just watering every other day rotating molasses with recharge. Light smell starting to come through. Waiting for these pbb’s to start to frost up a little more. But the Candy Candy is showing really good potential. Looking better than last run for sure at this point.

Final week before flower, and I took out the smallest plant as I knew I needed space for a dehumidifier. It was a good choice to in the end.

Week3 this third week was not easy. I went crazy from the pruning I did the week before. I chose to do it at the beginning of flowering so that the main bunches and branches were more exposed to light. and of course maybe I've been stressing the little one but now entering the 4th week she seems to be recovering. maybe I'm just tripping but it seems to have slowed down a bit. what scares me is how slow the buds take to grow and get fat. Warning!! I can't forget that the strain is fast flowering !! let's see how it goes...

She seems to be doing well. Her buds get fatter and more smelly each day. Weather turned a bit cooler. Temps in the day are mid 70s to mid 60s. Nights are in the high 40s mid to upper 50s. So nights would be cold for her. Plus she was getting severe mornings dew. So I bring her in the the garage at night. The temperature in the garage is 70. So she is going to have a warmer night than day. This goes against nature. For some reason I think she will like it. Today I took off all of her LST ropes. My thinking is, she may see the tension as weight. Probably should have taken them off sooner. Bruce Banner strain is a 9 or 10 week flower strain. So I figure she is about half way through flower. Day 100. She has a lot of lower leaves yellowing and falling off. The yellow is starting to move up the branches. This plant is almost all tops. Most coloas are top and 2 nodes under it. There are a few that have 4 or 5 nodes under the top, but they get the light for it. This strain requires a lot of food. This I read from a lot of reviews on the strain. I should have read up the Bruce Banner strain much earlier. Although I think I did a great job with her, considering this was my first serious grow. I did some gorilla growing in my younger days. However I had no idea what I was doing. I use to plant them, give them some water. Then in a few weeks top them and check on them every few days to few weeks. If they were lucky they got some Miracle-Gro. There was not a lot of information on how to grow. I was harvesting way too early. 9/23 1 gallon of water PH 6.2. It's not as hot, so I don't think she needs 2 gallons everyday anymore. Day 100 9/24 Fed 4 tablespoons Foxfarm Big Bloom, 12 ml Foxfarm Tiger Bloom, half a teaspoon Foxfarm Beasti Bloom, 2 tablespoons of Foxfarm Kelp me Kelp you, per 2 gallons of 6.4 PH water. Day 101 9/25 Cloudy day, no need for food or water. Day 102 9/27 Sunny. Made a tea worm castings, poop, some powder baby food and black strap molasses. Also 24 MLs Foxfarm Tiger Bloom, per two gallons. Day 103. Day 103 I see her first orange hairs, just a few. She smells great. She is making some beautiful buds. Very exciting time, she is getting close. She is a short plant, if she were in the ground, she would be about 3 feet tall. She is about 3 and 1/2 feet wide. I had her tied down most of her life. My goal was to keep her as short as I could. I prefer the neighbors not see her. This grow was by design, I wanted her to have as many tops as possible. I bent her branches and did not let them grow straight up. Not sure if I would get more or less if i let the plant grow up. She sure is going to give me many top buds. Either way Im going to have very nice buds. So if there is a weight difference in growing styles I have no way of knowing, until this plant finishes and I grow another style. The weight does not really matter. This will be more bud than I need, for a while.

I grew 3 plants 2 grew well but stalled due to water and lighting at back of a cold tent once this was sorted all grew within there height range which is small and compact with my 6.5 liter pot range 8n biobizz all mix with mycorrhizal added. This is my first ever grow and the genetics wowed me i took a lot of info in about autoflowering plants and the 2 main things that run true are pot size and reduce feed as autoFlowering plants need less due to restricted height although I saw amazing growth in 3rd -6 weeks this if you dial in could increase your yields. The plants had a mild floral berry smell during early stages and kept this smell allways through. Once in bloom they grew vigours and buds oozed resin . There colour are truly amazing I have 2 dark plants that changed colours! And 1 tall lilac plant that too on its amazing colour during late Flowering planted in cold weather these came through sweet looking. Final weight on last plant #2 dry buds in sugar leaf I leave on is 12.6 grams there still 2 lower branches I've tried to seed with her hermI pollen
