Critical Mass

When it comes to pure output, few strains can compete with Critical Mass. Thanks to its old-school genetics (Afghani x Skunk #1), the strain is known for producing fantastic yields alongside delightful flavours and respectable potency (18% THC). For most growers, this indica-leaning strain is a guaranteed producer, even in the hands of a total novice. Indoors, you can expect up to 17oz/yd², with similar results possible outdoors (12oz/plant). The best part is you only have to wait 7–8 weeks for flowers to reach maturity, or late September if you're growing in the garden. Cultivation really is a breeze, as Critical Mass shows strong resilience to pests and even copes well with stress—ideal should you make some mistakes along the way. And, even with her impressive yields, indoor plants stay more than manageable, typically reaching heights of 3.2ft. Outdoors, however, plants can stretch considerably, towering over growers at 7.2ft. As such, you'll need to plan accordingly, bracing plants with trellises and potentially camouflaging them with some companion plants. Finally, when all the hard work is done, and you've painstakingly trimmed your immense haul, it's the old-school skunk aroma that really stands out. Expect a thick, full-bodied smoke with a deeply soothing high that blankets the body from head to toe.
