December 27, 2023 Day 113 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 3 Curing I just got my grove bags, so there won't be any burping. 2 weeks of curing time should do it. Maybe 3 Gorilla Cookies: This lady is nearly done now. I think I started flushing a little late. As in today. The top half of the plant is just about ready for harvest while the lower half still has white pistils. Lots of trichomes, but still not ready yet. So I removed the wick system and will be top watering Flawless Finish as needed. She my be harvest ready in the next few days. Maybe tomorrow? I don't know. I have the lights coming in tomorrow, so those should help speed the maturing process along quickly. Anyway, I'll be harvesting very soon. I think I'll remove some fan leaves before harvest. Just to make trimming gonna little faster and to give more air flow while drying. It's raining and gross today. Unfortunately, that means the RH in the tent is too high. So I need to keep an eye today. Open the tent up every couple of hours to let any extra moisture out. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.2° RH: 52.6% VPD: 1.30 kPa December 28, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 4 Curing The whole yield is in a quarter pound grove bag now. It's sealed so there's nothing to do but let it cure for the next 4 weeks. I can't wait. This stuff is fire! Gorilla Cookies: This lady definitely has a bunch of amber trichomes on the tops, but after further inspection, its more like a quarter of the plant is ready for harvest. Just the tops. So the supplemental lighting may help things move along. I'm not expecting anything of substance, but it will certainly mature faster and I'll be able to harvest sooner. She got about 1.5 liters of Flawless Finish top feed today. She'll be needing a new top feed every couple of days from now on. I only expect her to last another week. Maybe a little less, but still no fade on this lady. However, her leaves are popping off without any pressure. Just touch and some of them pop right off. Some of them won't even take a pulling or bending. So she's definitely not quite ready yet. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.1° RH: 55.5% VPD: 1.25 kPa It's rainy and humid out here, so the tent is suffering from it. It's not too bad, but it has been hovering over 56% and that's unacceptable. Even with the tent door wide open, it only goes down to around 52%. It shouldn't last more than a few more hours. We just need the temp to drop a bit and everything will level out. At least down to around 51% for now. We have a could front coming in soon, so that'll fix the issue. December 29, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 5 Curing Gorilla Cookies: She is just about ready. The top seems like it's definitely ready to go, but I want the lower part of the plant to mature up a bit. Hopefully the supplemental lighting will help move that along. She will need another flush tomorrow. I'll give her around 3 to 5 days. I won't be able to do a dark period with this one. The tent will already have a drying plant in it and they won't be able to fit in there at the same time. Unless they are both drying. On the other hand, I may be able to squeeze both in there. We shall see. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.1° RH: 52.7% VPD: 1.32 kPa December 30, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 6 Curing Gorilla Cookies: She isn't showing much, but I don't really expect her to with the new lights. She is too far along. I'm just hoping for a faster maturity rate. She definitely needs to be harvested within the next week. She got another flush today with the Flawless finish. I don't know how many flushes she has left before harvest, but I doubt it's much. Maybe 2 or 3? No signs of fading though. It's strange. This plant and the smaller on in the main tent haven't faded at all. While the big one in the main tent looks like she will have a wonderful fade. I wonder what I'm doing wrong with this one. Maybe the soil is just too rich for the short term flushing. Maybe she really needs a full 2 weeks of flush. We shall see. I will check trichomes tomorrow I think. I don't think I'll see much difference from 2 days ago. Not in the lower part of the plant that is. The tops are all ready to go. They could certainly use a tiny bit more time, but they are definitely ready to go now. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.2° RH: 50.7% VPD: 1.34 kPa December 31, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 7 Curing Gorilla Cookies: She's taking a bit longer than expected, well, actually I originally expected about a week after another Gorilla Cookies from the main tent. I harvested it today. This lady looks like she may be harvest ready in the next 3 to 5 days. I'm hoping she will take a bit longer so I can clear out the dry tent for her. She got about a liter of Flawless Finish today. I'm not sure if she is still as thirsty as she once was. Honestly, I can't tell. She was using the wick system so efficiently, before, I couldn't say how much she was actually drinking at the time. Maybe a liter a day? So she may have not changed her drinking volume at all. Which also means she isn't ready for harvest. The lower part of the plant is still immature. However, the supplemental lighting seems to be helping to move things along. We shall see. Let's hope for some extra time. Ultimately 10ndays would be perfect. But I'm almost certain that won't be a thing. It's too far away compared to her maturity level, especially with the main tops. Those are all nearly ready to go as it is. They could be harvested anytime. But I can still hold off anyway for more amber trichomes. Her leaves are loaded with them, but I don't see a bunch on the buds yet. I'd like to see 20% amber with this plant and preferably no clear. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.6° RH: 47.8% VPD: 1.40 kPa January 1, 2024 Happy New Year! Strawberry Gorilla: Day 8 Curing Gorilla Cookies: I believe the lights are doing the job now. The lower part of the canopy is starting to harden off, pistils are turning orange and trichomes are starting to turn cloudy. At least from what I can see. She got another top watering today with about a liter of Flawless Finish. It looks like she is still drinking at the same rate as before. I wonder if I started flushing a bit too early. It's quite possible. But maybe not. The top of the plant is ready to go as it has been for nearly a week. I'm going to check the trichomes in the next day or 2. I don't think it's absolutely necessary at the moment as I can tell the bottom of the plant is still very immature, but moving along nicely. I wonder if foxtails take less time to finish up than a solid bud. An interesting theory. However, the plant has been about a week behind anyway due to the few stressors she was under. Anyway, I think I can hold off harvesting for the week coming up. Update: I had to turn the main light intensity down from 40% to 30% for the large plant in the main diary. The PPFD is around 750 now. Apparently the light intensity should be dropped around this time anyway, so maybe I'm doing a good thing for this Gorilla Cookies. I'm leaving the supplemental lighting alone for now. I believe it is doing something. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.9° RH: 46.3% VPD: 1.45 kPa January 2, 2024 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 9 Curing Gorilla Cookies: Today was another top feed of Flawless Finish. She is cruising through water at a decent rate. I'm pretty sure I was too early with her flushing. The supplemental lighting seems to have perked her right up. The lower part of the plant is showing healthy deep green growth instead of the light green from before. The little budlets are swelling up as well. They aren't tight, dense or anything like that. There are clusters of them all over the lower branches. No real formed buds. But will be great with the trim. At least from what I won't be able to salvage as a bud. Even a loose bud is better than a trim bud. I've also decided to wait to harvest this lady for when the dry tent is cleared out of another Gorilla Cookies that's in there. It should have around 8 days left. Frankly, I'm not worried about it. It'll be a good experiment to see how this strain does with a higher percentage of amber trichomes. Although, at this rate, I don't think 8 days is off the mark by much. I know a lot can happen in 8 days, but I don't think the lower part of the plant will have a problem with it. Lots of clear trichomes. Plenty of cloudy, but definitely too many clear. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.9° RH: 45.2% VPD: 1.47 kPa

Beginning of week 7, It’s always cool making it to the point where you can smell a strains unique flavors. The scent is still only minor, but coming in. Any LST at this point is just small re-adjustments to branches that have already been tied down. But overall it has its final shape. While smaller than I had originally hoped, going to do what I can to get these buds as fat as possible! At day 47, seems the runt of the litter is finally showing some formed buds, as well as some purple tint. The plant that started mutated, while still odd looking, has the frostiest leaves and largest branches so far. It’s now the end of week 7, time has been flying by the past couple months. The plants are mostly their final shape and structure, now it’s time to watch the bids pack on weight. The one runt plant is maybe a week or two behind the others, but I’m keeping it going because why not!

I love the sativa shaped nug-towers! When my plants grow big, I like to grow them until the very end of their cycle! That's why the extended flower period. Esta semana se incorpora una barra de 1m de osram con Deep Blue, Far red e hiper red como complemento de rojos y azules. 23/05/2021 (Day 68) Hoy se colocó la segunda malla scrog y podemos observar que las plantas van desde 90cm de altura al suelo en su expresión mas indica y 110cm de distancia al suelo en la expresión mas sativa.

Day 27 today plants look ready to stretch fully Into flower. Or at least I hope so. They don't look so healthy , I have changed soil which I'm already regretting. Today and top dressed each plant with 10g each of Greenhouse feed bio bloom.

The one remaining plant from her seed pack after I made a mistake that cost her sister the opportunity to join the experiment. At first, I was simply happy that Candy Rain had made it. Then she started growing. And growing. And developing. And flowering. And somewhere along the way, the little survivor stopped looking like a plant that had merely survived... and started looking like a plant that belongs in the spotlight. Week 9 now. And honestly? I'm loving everything about her. The colour. The leaves. The structure. The flowers. The calyxes. Those beautiful fresh white pistils. The balance. The way she carries herself. She's just... beautiful. And this week, I didn't need to do anything special. No defoliation. No big intervention. No attempt to reshape her. We're simply letting Candy Rain be Candy Rain. And she's doing a damn good job of it. 🍬✨ 🌱 The 8×8 Adventure – Let Genetics Speak For anyone joining the diary now, welcome to the 8×8 Adventure. This project is built around a simple idea: Give different genetics and phenotypes the same opportunity... and then watch what they do with it. The plants share the same room. The same 12/12 lighting schedule. The same environmental strategy. The same general nutrition. The same irrigation system. The same lighting ecosystem. The same grower. But the plants don't become identical. That's the whole point. The environment provides the stage. Genetics write the performance. And Candy Rain has certainly developed her own character. 🍬 From Survivor to Something Special I still find it funny looking back at where this girl started. She wasn't supposed to become one of the plants I would be watching this closely. She simply survived. And now I'm looking at her at Week 9 thinking: "Where the hell are you going?" 😂💚 Because she continues to impress me. She's not the tallest plant in the room. She's not the biggest. She's not trying to dominate everything around her. Instead, she has developed something I appreciate enormously: balance. Her structure is controlled. Her branches carry flowering sites beautifully. Her foliage remains healthy and functional. And the plant has that wonderful combination of strength and elegance. Nothing feels excessive. Nothing feels chaotic. She simply looks... right. 🌿 A Beautifully Balanced Plant This week, one of the things I appreciate most is the overall balance of Candy Rain. She's still carrying plenty of healthy foliage, but the canopy doesn't feel unnecessarily crowded. The branches have enough separation to allow us to see the developing flowers. The leaves are beautifully formed. And the entire plant has maintained that fresh, vibrant green that first caught my attention. There is something particularly satisfying about looking at a plant where everything seems to be working together. Leaves supporting flowers. Branches supporting structure. Flowering sites developing along the architecture. Nothing screaming for attention. Nothing demanding correction. Just steady development. And that's exactly why... there was no defoliation this week. ✂️ No Defoliation – Just Let Her Be Sometimes the best thing you can do for a plant is nothing. And that's where Candy Rain is right now. I'm not going to remove healthy leaves just because we're at Week 9. I'm not going to create gaps simply because the calendar says it's time for a cleanup. I'm looking at the plant. I'm looking at the canopy. I'm looking at the flowers. And I'm asking: Does she actually need me to interfere? This week, my answer is: No. She's balanced. She's healthy. She's flowering. She's maintaining good structure. So we're leaving her alone. We're letting her keep the leaves she's chosen to keep. We're letting her maintain the architecture she's built. We're letting her be what she is. And honestly... I think that's beautiful. 🌸 The Flowers Are Becoming Beautiful The flowering sites are now much more established. What started as tiny clusters of pistils has become unmistakable developing flowers. And the photographs this week really capture the details I love about Candy Rain. The calyxes are becoming increasingly pronounced. The fresh white hairs are still beautifully visible, reaching outward from the developing flowers. The flower structures are gaining definition. And the whole plant seems to be moving deeper into that stage where every week brings another visible change. This is one of my favourite moments in a grow. You're past the initial excitement of seeing the first pistils... but you're not yet at the final destination. You're somewhere in between. The flowers are telling you: "Wait. We're not finished yet." And I'm listening. ? Those White Hairs... I have to say it. I absolutely love the pistils on this plant. There is something incredibly elegant about those fresh white hairs emerging from the calyxes. They give the flowers that almost delicate appearance. And when you look closely at the photographs, you can see how much detail is already developing. This is where macro photography becomes particularly rewarding. You can look at the plant from a distance and think: "Beautiful flowers." Then you get closer... and suddenly you're looking at an entire microscopic landscape. Calyxes. Pistils. Sugar leaves. Early resin development. Textures. Patterns. It's one of the reasons I never get tired of photographing these plants. There's always another detail hiding there. 🍃 And Those Leaves... The leaves deserve their own little moment too. Because I genuinely love the foliage on this girl. They're beautifully formed. Healthy. Strong. And incredibly photogenic. The leaf structure adds so much to the overall appearance of the plant. And when you place those leaves around the developing flowers, the contrast between the green foliage and the lighter flowering structures makes the whole plant incredibly attractive. She's not just producing flowers. She's producing them inside a beautiful architecture. And that's something I really appreciate. 💡 Light From Above & Below The lighting environment remains consistent with the rest of the room. The Future of Grow Black Series LED provides the primary overhead illumination, while Lumiflora contributes additional under-canopy lighting. Candy Rain's open and elegant structure makes her particularly interesting to observe under this combination. Her flowering sites are distributed through different levels of the plant, giving us another opportunity to watch how the different parts of the canopy develop as flowering progresses. But I'm deliberately avoiding making big claims before harvest. The plants will tell us. The photographs will tell us. And eventually... the finished flowers will tell us. For now, we're simply watching. And now she's standing here at Week 9 looking like she was always meant to be part of this adventure. That's something growing teaches you again and again. You don't always know which plant will capture your attention. Sometimes it's the biggest. Sometimes it's the weirdest. Sometimes it's the one with the most unusual phenotype. The little plant have recovered pretty well as far as I can tell... They still look a bit wrecked but this is due what they have lived through I think... Hope they have a better time ahead :) UPDATE: one of the plants seems to have fallen (eg autobended herself) to the ground but is still looking good to me... I just let her be and see what happens :)

These two have grown amazing. The one with the self water wicker system has absolutely exploded with growth. It's going to be a beast of a plant as the flower period just started and it's still stretching. Nice and healthy with no issues. All in all Happy Growing

All in all this grow was super easy. I couldve done some things to make it better but she pretty much did all the work. This strain would be perfect for a SOG style grow because it produces mostly a singular main cola nug that's pretty huge and then the bottom nugs themselves are also decently chunky. 4/22 chopped the lower half the plant. Wet it weighs 50grams. Still have the main cola in a dark room for another day or so before im gonna chop. 4/26 bottom half of plant dried in 4 days. 5/2 top cola dried in 5 days. Total weight is less than 20 grams at 19.4 5/12. Ten days of cure and shes looking even better. Spongey thick nugs. Dark red almost brown Pistils with pyramid shaped nugs. I also wanted to not how fast and easy this grow actually was. She has so much amber I probably couldve chopped her 2 weeks previous. 3 weeks veg and 5 weeks flowering and some would chop. Review. Growing 9/10 for ease of growth Super fast and simple. You can Fuck up and get fat buds lol High: 9/10 super stoney. No paranoia Yield:8/10 plant a super short. Like less than a foot. Can probably yield around a zip roughly Bag appeal: 7/10after cure buds look good. Before harvest buds look fantastic as well

Starting to see little pistols so guessing this will be the last week of veg before the transition into flower. All in all Happy Growing

overall very satisfied with the results and can't wait for the drying and curing to finish so i can lit one up!! the growing process wasn't that hard until she stressed during one of the training sessions and i had to cut off 2 colas during the veg cycle. for my first harvest ever i'm pretty happy with this little beauty:) day 2 of drying: weight dropped by half. total is now 50g and there's some more to loose 🙈 started curing the buds after 4 days of drying- overall 20g of dried buds ------ first taste 👅 (2 weeks curing): man it was worth waiting for an acceptable curing time before digging in, i tried it twice before and i have to say that curing plays a huge role when it comes to flavors, scents and high (so basically all the aspects that matter). wasn't even close to what i'm experiencing right now. great high, the taste is great with yummy fruity aftertastes. also looks like the volume of the buds have decreased by about 30-40% but they got denser will wait some more to see how curing benefits this one! ------- update 11/19/20 i had the trimmed leaves freezes so i decided to make some coconut infused RSO

I accidentally gave the babies a drink mixed with a shot of dehumidifier chemicals. I mean, there’s stiff learning curves being a first time grower but that is just thick as pig shit territory. It only dawned on me the next day and I rapidly flushed. Think the orange bud is looking a little healthier, but they are both hanging in there. Chemicalicious.

Pave was ready, took the tops and let the rest swell, also took down the tops from pink pillow.Gush mintz were getting to the point of over ripe, took all the heavy tops. Some rot was found. Took down the tops from the original blueberry, they were rock solid and just to the apex of maturity, the flowers were pristine save a few holes from moth larvae- also left the lower branches to fill out. Many hours of trimming already and I have not made a dent in the garden. Sugar cane and gorilla glue have produced massive colas and I plan on taking the mature tops next week. I had some trouble with the centurion tabletop trimmer but it was just due to massive amounts of sticky resin on the brush roller and blade. This is the stickiest and healthiest crop yet, perhaps it is due to the elecroculture antennas I made and installed this year (see week 2.) Bugs did not want any part of the garden this year except for the moth larvae and spiders (which were beneficial.)

It seems like I need more experience with these Earthbox jr's. I fully believe I have stunted these plants some how. I need more research, but plastic pots are certainly interesting. I need more stretch for my space...
