How to Control Stretching: Mastering Cannabis's Growth Push Stretching is a natural growth spurt for cannabis plants, but it is known to affect final yield. We dive into what causes stretching in the first place and how to prevent it from invading your growing space. There is little more irritating than an overloaded grow room. Stretching, the term used to describe the accelerated growth of cannabis stems, is part of the natural process of the vegetative phase and is influenced by plant genetics among other variables. Unfortunately, stretching is a recurring culprit in poor yields and plants that are too long resulting in the wobble of physically unstable crops. Despite the threat it confers, stretching can be controlled by first examining the factors influencing growth and then creating a protocol to accompany these problems step by step. Controlling cannabis stretching requires an understanding of how plants interact with their internal and external environments. WHY DO PLANTS STRETCH? There are many reasons why plants are stretched, one of which revolves around the varieties themselves. Genetics play an essential role in determining the possible height of sativas, indicas and hybrids. While most indica varieties are reared to grow in a smaller and denser way, sativas often undergo significant stretches of up to sometimes almost 2 or more mothers depending on the species. While stretching itself is not harmful, drastic flare-ups on the part of the stems can result in the potential loss of a large crop of between 20% and 30% in total. When thinking about species for your next home growing session, look for the standard size of each variety you are interested in so you can judge whether or not these species undergo drastic stretching during flowering.

08/09/2020/ start of week 3 flowering, I think I'm seeing P deficiency? Watered her with LAB to see if it helps going to put a couple spikes of 4-9-3 around the outer rim, and water in with more LAB to get the microbial army mobilized.🙏

Weekly up date on these gorgeous ladies. They are stacked and swelling amazing going through the flower stage. I really couldn't be happier with how these have grown as it's an easy one not being to temperamental. I've kept the ppm/ec around the same between 900-1100ppms. Still feeding 16oz daily and all in all Happy Growing.

I’m driving myself crazy trying to figure out what to do. I’ve been on the web, sent an email for help and scoured social media. I hate feeling like I’m harming my girls. I just got one plant doing a little better. Now the other has joined in. Gelato is a rock star.

Sep 6: the bud type seems a bit disappointing. Likely just this particular phenotype but she is not really forming normal looking buds. Whatever, the smell is very nice and there will be enough mass and potency for extracts. Sep 7: added a final round of malted barley and Power Bloom. Sep 12: don’t take flash pics of your plants unless you follow up with a far red light to put them into dark mode. Otherwise you run a higher risk of hermies.

Here we are with another masterpiece of the Zamnesia catalog, as usual automatics never disappoint and Trainwreck is a shining example. ** We remind all users that we grow two plants per strain, one worked with specific techniques and the other left to grow freely and beautifully or worked with uncut techniques to preserve speed. Description // This plant was left to grow, simple, nice and straight, with a lot of cleaning underneath, however in any case the lower part of the plant must remain clean. It is really big, big and fat with plump flowers, nice plump and with a resin at the right point, it is not incredible at the highest levels I must say the truth but for the temperatures I am facing it is truly excellent. I am about to move to a new location where I will be able to control everything much better for now I have been forced to adapt to the fortunate and pro-cannabis climate conditions of my area. The plants were a bit delicate at the start I recommend a bit more attention on the birth, overwatering, repotting if possible with autoflowering let's avoid them, let's avoid everything directly in a defined pot for autoflowering it is better. I highly recommend you try it. Trichomes and maturation // We did a thorough microscopic analysis 10x (and 10x x 1.6) and noticed a good percentage of milky/lumpy trichomes; The percentage of amber trichomes was non so good and still some transparent, but that's fine for us as we're not crazy about THC oxidation and hyper indica effects around here. Fertilizers and soil // We used the Plagron organic fertilizer range, all the recommended additives and Pro Mix soil, both unfertilized and organic. Calculate the dosage according to your needs on the website ------ https://plagron.com/ The nutrients are available in convenient packs on the Zamnesia website --------- https://www.zamnesia.io/en/11457-plagron-easy-pack-natural.html Take a taste of this strain, it's a cross of legendary strains https://www.zamnesia.io/en/11055-zamnesia-seeds-trainwreck-automatic.html Short Description Zamnesia // Trainwreck Automatic is the autoflowering descendant of the popular cannabis strain Trainwreck (a stunning cross of Thai and Mexican landraces). Much loved for its 70% sativa genetics and sativa-like effects, Trainwreck Automatic is as easy to grow as an indica (even in cold climates). This autoflowering strain goes from germination to harvest in 11–12 weeks, meaning you'll be harvesting sativa buds in no time. It prefers warmer climates, but thanks to its short life cycle, it can also be grown in more northern areas (provided it is germinated a few weeks early when growing outdoors) Trainwreck Auto offers delicious lemon and lime flavors that enhance the classic sativa profile of its parents. Furthermore, thanks to the spicy and earthy notes, the overall experience will be even more intense, regardless of whether you smoke or vape it. In terms of its effects, Trainwreck Auto is euphoric, uplifting and energizing. Fueled by a THC content of around 21%, this strain is perfect for socializing and best suited to smokers who prefer to stay active after consuming cannabis, rather than lazing around doing nothing. The whole world of cultivation and much more is from Zamnesia: just take a look at the site and you will find "all the best that nature has to offer" in various shapes and colors. -- // www.zamnesia.com

👑 Godfather OG – Pheno B Week 5 | A Gentle Giant Finds Her Rhythm Welcome back to another update from the 8×8 Adventure! One of my favourite aspects of this project is documenting every phenotype individually. Although every plant is receiving the same care, the same environment, and the same attention, each one responds in her own unique way. Godfather OG Pheno B is a perfect example of that. Standing proudly among the tallest plants in the room, she’s developing into a vigorous, elegant lady with excellent structure, healthy growth, and an increasingly impressive canopy. She may share the same name as her sister
But she’s writing a completely different story. âž» đŸŒ± The Journey So Far If you’re joining this diary for the first time, welcome! This entire project is being grown using the 12/12 From Seed technique. Instead of allowing a long vegetative period before switching to flower, every plant has remained under a constant cycle of 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness from the very beginning. This allows every phenotype to express its own natural rhythm. No forcing. No extended veg. Just letting genetics decide when they’re ready to bloom. That has become one of the most educational parts of this entire grow. Watching siblings respond differently under identical conditions never gets old. âž» 🌾 Flowering Has Officially Begun For me, this marks Week One of Flower. She’s now fully entering that exciting transition where vegetative growth slowly gives way to reproductive growth. Fresh white pistils are appearing across the tops and developing branches. Those tiny white hairs are the first signs of the flowers to come. During the next several weeks they’ll multiply rapidly as each growth tip transforms into a future cola. Every morning brings another little surprise. It’s one of those stages where you can almost watch the plant changing before your eyes. âž» 🌿 A Beautiful Structure Already reaching approximately 70 cm, Godfather OG Pheno B is another one of the largest ladies inside the grow room. She has developed a wonderfully open structure with strong vertical growth and healthy lateral branching. Throughout vegetative growth I’ve relied mainly on gentle Low Stress Training, carefully bending leaves and branches to improve light penetration while allowing the plant to maintain her natural architecture. Rather than forcing the plant into shape
I’ve simply guided her. Now those early adjustments are beginning to pay off as multiple flowering sites receive excellent light exposure. Every branch is beginning to compete for the spotlight. âž» 💧 Hand Watering — Precision Through Observation Unlike her sister, this phenotype is being hand-watered, allowing me to monitor her individually at every irrigation. Hand watering offers a different type of control. Each watering becomes an opportunity to inspect the plant closely, evaluate her response, monitor runoff, and make small adjustments whenever needed. It’s a slower approach than automated irrigation, but it creates a very personal connection with each plant. As flowering begins, the feeding program has also transitioned to support this new phase of growth. Bloom nutrients are gradually taking the lead while maintaining enough nitrogen to fuel the final stretch before the plant fully commits her energy to flower production. âž» đŸŒĄïž Environment Continues to Deliver The grow room continues providing an exceptionally stable environment. Current conditions include: ‱ Day temperature: 31.1°C ‱ Night temperature: 25°C ‱ Relative humidity: 72% ‱ Nutrient solution: 24.2°C ‱ Root zone: 21°C ‱ CO₂ concentration: 639 ppm Everything remains remarkably consistent, allowing the plants to focus entirely on healthy growth. As flowering progresses and the buds begin to develop greater density, humidity will gradually be reduced to create the ideal environment for the weeks ahead. Consistency remains one of the most important nutrients we can provide. âž» đŸ“· This Week’s Gallery This week’s photographs capture her from every angle. Studio portraits showcase her elegant structure and increasing height. Close-up images reveal the first pistils emerging across multiple flowering sites. Bird’s-eye views highlight how evenly the canopy is developing after weeks of gentle training. I’ve also included updates from inside the room together with environmental controller readings so everyone following this project can continue seeing not only the plants themselves, but also the conditions helping them thrive. Documenting the entire journey has become almost as rewarding as growing the plants themselves. âž» 🔼 Looking Ahead The coming week should bring another noticeable burst of development. I expect the flowering sites to expand quickly as more pistils appear and the early bud clusters begin taking shape. Stretch may continue for a little longer before gradually slowing down, allowing the plant to redirect more energy into flower production. Training will remain minimal from this point onward, with only gentle adjustments where needed to maintain airflow and light penetration. She’s healthy. She’s vigorous. And I have a feeling she’s only beginning to reveal what she’s capable of. âž» 💚 Thank You Thank you so much for following another chapter of this 8×8 Adventure. Every diary tells a different story, and sharing these journeys with this amazing community makes the entire experience even more rewarding. A huge thank you to: 💚 GrowDiaries for providing an incredible platform where growers from around the world can learn, share and inspire one another. Zamnesia for the fantastic genetics making this phenotype hunt possible. đŸŒ± Plagron for providing the nutrients supporting these ladies every step of the journey. 💡 Future of Grow LED for delivering the light powering this entire project. 🌿 TrolMaster for helping maintain a stable, carefully controlled environment from day one. And finally
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read these updates, leave comments, ask questions, share knowledge, or simply follow along. Your encouragement makes documenting every single phenotype worthwhile. I’ll see you all next week as Godfather OG Pheno B continues her journey deeper into flowering. Growers Love and the adventure is only just beginning. đŸŒ±đŸ‘‘đŸ’š

3/25/2023 Week 6- Day 1 of Veg (Day 52 overall) Added my first between changes SILICA Top offs. Was worried that when you add it to pre mixed Nutes that it can make the whole thing turn into a gummy looking substance. I was ready to drain the system and start it over for the week if needed, but no issues adding it to the tank. the Silica going into the Res didn't gummy the system up, it did drop my PH by quit a bit causing me to have to bring it back in balance. 36 Gallons in the Tank Silica Add .5mil/Gal = 18Mil I topped some that needed to be topped, I defoliated some that needs to be defoliated. Since I have moved into Week 6 I have increased the light intensity up to just over 500 maxing it out for Veg Cycle. Next increase will be Week 1 of Flower. 3/26/2023 Week 6- Day 2 of Veg (Day 53 overall) All conditions looked great. Other than me not putting one of the humidifiers back right which means it didn't work last night so Humidity was lower than I like. But got the Humidifier back on it's stand correctly and it is now pumping away. With that I decided to give the plants a day off from any stresses, no topping, no FIMing, no Defoliation for today. Just some good old soaking up the light rays and the ability to get all the Nutes they would like.. 3/27/2023 Week 6- Day 3 of Veg (Day 54 overall) Looking kind of Bushy today, so I defoliated some, and topped some. 3/28/2023 Week 6- Day 4 of Veg (Day 55 overall) PH was a little lower than I like 5.74 so I added a few Mil of PH UP and brought it back up to 5.94. Not much else at this stage, just I topped a little and I defoliated a little. 3/29/2023 Week 6- Day 5 of Veg (Day 56 overall) Topped a little, Defoliated a little Watched them grow!! 3/30/2023 Week 6- Day 6 of Veg (Day 57 Overall) Main action today was breaking down my old tent and setting up a new tent and getting my second RDWC system setup and ready for clones. I Topped a little, I Defoliated some and started taking a good look at what I would like to take for clones in the coming days. I have a few bottom branches that look every promising for my clone material on each. 3/31/2023 Week 6- Day 7 of Veg (Day 58 overall) #3 is at 16" Tall #2 is at 13" Tall

Hey guys week 2 flower check in, Flower nutes started. She's stretching.. around 6-7 inches of stretching within the first week had to Defoliate the lower canopy again to keep good airflow and to promote upwards growth, appears to be working. looking forward to keeping you guys updated in the upcoming weeks. :D

This week I decided to introduce nutrition. I am new to this so i went for organic (from what I've read) bio bizz and is also readily available at my local grow shop thankfully haha my first run so I halved the recommended amounts more or less as I didn't was to burn the plants as they are still young.
