πŸ’œ 8Γ—8 Adventure – Harvest Diary Purple Haze by Zamnesia | Pheno A πŸ‘‘ THE QUEEN'S FINAL CHAPTER β€” TRIMMING, FINAL WEIGHT & THE CURING JOURNEY! βœ‚οΈπŸ’ŽπŸŒΏ Hello everyone, and welcome back to another chapter of the 8Γ—8 Adventure! πŸŒ±πŸ’š MY FRIENDS... THE QUEEN IS BACK! And this time, we're bringing her harvest story to its final stage. πŸ’œπŸ‘‘ If you've been following the previous reports, you already know this girl earned her Big Mama title. She developed into a substantial plant, produced some seriously impressive flowers, and gave us plenty of reasons to keep the camera busy throughout her journey. Last week, we focused on her harvest, the whole-plant drying stage, and the photographs taken before trimming. Today, we're continuing exactly where we left off. The trimming. The final numbers. The finished flowers. And, of course, how we're preserving this beautiful harvest for the curing stage. As always, I strongly recommend going back through her previous diary updates if you'd like to follow the complete story. There's quite a bit behind these final photographs, and I don't want anyone to miss the journey that brought us here. But for now... LET'S GIVE BIG MAMA HER FINAL HARVEST SPOTLIGHT! πŸ’œβœ‚οΈπŸ“Έ ──────────────────────── 🌱 A QUICK RECAP β€” FROM SEED TO BIG MAMA For anyone joining this diary for the first time, Purple Haze Pheno A was part of our 8Γ—8 Adventure: a project following twelve individual plants and phenotypes, with each one receiving her own diary and documentation. One of the central experiments was our 12/12-from-seed approach, allowing us to observe how different genetics developed under the same general growing strategy. And this girl certainly made herself noticed! She developed into a substantial plant, with a beautiful structure and some seriously impressive flowers. Throughout her journey, we followed her development week after week, documenting her growth, flowering, and final stages. Then came harvest. We dried her as a whole plant before moving into the trimming process, which is where today's report begins. If you want the full story, please take a look at the previous weeks. You'll find the growing journey, the harvest chapter, and the photographs that brought us to this moment. Twelve plants, twelve individual stories. And one very proud Big Mama! πŸ˜‚πŸ’œπŸ‘‘ ──────────────────────── βœ‚οΈ TRIMMING DAY β€” EVERY FLOWER GETS SOME LOVE After the drying stage, it was time to bring out the scissors and TrimBin. We worked through the flowers carefully, trimming them by hand and giving each one the attention it deserved. No rushing. No treating the flowers like an assembly line. Just patience, curved trimming scissors, and a little bit of love for every beautiful bud. And MY FRIENDS... LOOK AT THESE FLOWERS! πŸ’œπŸ’Ž Big Mama produced some seriously dense, substantial buds. There were beautiful flowers throughout the harvest, and handling them during trimming gave us another opportunity to appreciate just how impressive this phenotype became. The TrimBin helped us keep the trimming process organised, collecting the material as we worked and keeping the workspace tidy. It's one of those simple pieces of equipment that makes a long trimming session much more comfortable. And yes, there was plenty of work to do! πŸ˜‚βœ‚οΈ Every flower was trimmed with care before being weighed and prepared for the next stage. The photographs show the finished result, but they also preserve a little of the process behind it. From the dried branches to the trimmed flowers, this is the point where the harvest starts taking its final form. And Big Mama? SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! πŸ’œπŸ‘‘ ──────────────────────── βš–οΈ THE FINAL NUMBERS β€” BIG MAMA DELIVERS! Right, my friends. Let's get to the numbers! Because after all those weeks of growing, photographing, observing, and eventually harvesting, it's always satisfying to see the final result. Our wet bud material came in at approximately 1,141 grams. And after drying and trimming, the final dry flower weight was: πŸ’Ž 135.7 GRAMS πŸ’Ž That's the number we're taking into the curing stage! From 1,141 grams of wet material to 135.7 grams of trimmed, dry flowers. And I'm genuinely happy with that result. Of course, wet and dry weights are two very different measurements. A substantial amount of the original weight is water that leaves the flowers during drying, so the final dry weight is the meaningful figure when we're talking about the finished harvest. But beyond the number, what makes me happy is the quality of the final presentation. Dense flowers. Beautiful structure. A lovely collection of trimmed buds. And a harvest that gives this girl a very fitting ending to her growing diary. Big Mama, you did well! πŸ’œπŸ‘‘πŸŒΏ ──────────────────────── πŸ›οΈ THE NEXT STAGE β€” TWO CURING METHODS, ONE HARVEST Now comes another interesting part of this post-harvest journey. After trimming and weighing, we divided the finished flowers between two storage and curing approaches: πŸ’š Grove Bags And ? Glass jars Both are being used to preserve the flowers during the curing stage, but the way we manage them is different. And that's worth explaining, especially for anyone who is new to post-harvest handling. ──────────────────────── πŸ’š GROVE BAGS β€” TERPLOC TECHNOLOGY Some of Big Mama's flowers were placed inside Grove Bags. These are purpose-designed curing and storage bags using their TerpLoc multilayer film technology. The idea is to create a suitable internal environment for properly dried flowers, helping manage moisture and gas exchange while protecting the contents from unnecessary exposure to the outside environment. They're designed to help maintain a more stable internal humidity environment and preserve the aroma and character of the flowers during curing and storage. One of the biggest practical differences is that we don't follow the traditional daily opening-and-closing routine with these bags. We don't open them every day just to let them breathe. The material is designed to manage the internal environment through the properties of the film itself, reducing the need for manual burping when the flowers have been properly dried and the bags are used correctly. And that's an important distinction: Grove Bags are not drying bags. The flowers must be properly dried before going inside. They are not vacuum bags, they cannot rescue flowers that are still too wet, and they cannot correct a poor drying process. They're also not magic bags that guarantee a perfect cure regardless of what happens beforehand. Good drying, clean handling, and starting with flowers at an appropriate moisture level are still essential. For anyone who wants an extra level of reassurance, there's a simple option: You can place a small digital hygrometer inside the bag to monitor the temperature and relative humidity. That gives you an additional reference point, particularly if you're still learning the process or want to check how your flowers are behaving. Grove Bags are designed to help manage the curing environment, but monitoring your flowers and understanding their condition remains important. The main advantage for us is convenience, less handling, and a purpose-built storage environment that helps protect the flowers while they cure. And now? Big Mama's flowers are resting inside their bags. We'll give them time. Patience is part of the process! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ ──────────────────────── ? GLASS JARS β€” THE TRADITIONAL ROUTE The other part of the harvest went into glass jars. And here we're following a more traditional curing routine. During approximately the first two weeks, we're opening the jars every day. We allow the air inside to exchange with the outside air before closing them again. Why do we do this? Because even after flowers have been dried, they can still contain some residual moisture inside their structure. During curing, that moisture can redistribute through the flowers and influence the humidity inside the jar. Opening the jars allows us to release accumulated moisture and exchange the air, helping us monitor how the flowers are settling into their storage environment. It also gives us the opportunity to check for anything unusual, including excessive moisture or unwanted smells. The routine is not simply about opening a jar for the sake of it. It's about observing the flowers and managing the conditions while the cure develops. As the flowers stabilise, the frequency of opening can be reduced, provided everything is behaving as expected. And that's the main difference between the two approaches we're using here. With the jars, we're manually opening and exchanging the air. With the Grove Bags, we're relying on the properties of the TerpLoc film to help manage the internal environment without that same daily opening routine. Neither method removes the need for proper drying or sensible monitoring. They're simply two different approaches to the curing and storage stage. And because we're using both with this harvest, we can continue observing how each method behaves over time. ?πŸ’š ──────────────────────── πŸ”¬ WHY ARE WE USING BOTH? This is something I particularly enjoy about documenting a harvest. We're not just showing the finished flowers. We're also recording what happens after the growing stage is over. The flowers from Purple Haze Pheno A are now being preserved using two different approaches. Some are inside Grove Bags. Others are inside glass jars. We'll give both methods time, keep an eye on the flowers, and eventually bring those observations into the next stage of the diary. The important thing is not to declare one method the winner before we've had the opportunity to evaluate the results. Curing takes time. And the final aroma, flavour, and overall experience deserve to be assessed properly rather than guessed from the appearance of a jar or bag. So we'll leave that discussion open for now. The flowers are resting. The curing process is underway. And the next chapter will give us the opportunity to talk about what we discover. πŸ’šπŸ”¬ ──────────────────────── πŸ‘‘ BIG MAMA β€” WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HARVEST! Looking back at this girl's journey, I'm genuinely happy with what we've documented. From seed, through the 12/12-from-seed experiment, through flowering, harvest, drying, trimming, and now curing. We've followed her every step of the way. She became a substantial plant. She produced dense, beautiful flowers. She gave us a fantastic harvest to work through. And now, with 135.7 grams of finished dry flowers, she's officially moved into the curing stage. But I don't want this report to become only about numbers. Because the best part of this project is being able to look back and appreciate the individual journey behind each harvest. Every phenotype has something different to show us. Every plant gives us another opportunity to observe, learn, and document. And Purple Haze Pheno A has certainly earned her place among the memorable girls of this adventure. Big Mama... You were a pleasure to grow and a pleasure to photograph. Now it's time to rest. πŸ’œπŸ‘‘πŸŒΏ ──────────────────────── πŸ’¬ COME JOIN THE DOG DOCTOR COMMUNITY! Your encouragement means a lot, and I'm grateful to have you along for the adventure. πŸ’šπŸŒΏ ──────────────────────── πŸ’œ THE GROWING CHAPTER IS COMPLETE β€” BUT THE STORY CONTINUES! And here we are, my friends. Purple Haze by Zamnesia – Pheno A. Our Big Mama. The Queen. From seed to harvest, from drying to trimming, and now safely resting in Grove Bags and glass jars. Final dry flower weight: 135.7 grams. She's done her part. We've done ours. And now we'll let time do its work. The curing stage is underway, and we'll return with the smoke review once we've had the opportunity to properly evaluate the finished flowers. Until then, let's appreciate what this girl gave us. A beautiful plant. A beautiful harvest. And another complete story documented in the 8Γ—8 Adventure. Thank you, Big Mama! Keep shining, Queen. πŸ’œπŸ‘‘ Growers Love & Happy Growing, my friends! πŸŒ±πŸ’š Take care, everyone. And remember... 12 day dry @ 58-63RH & 60-66F in blacked out dry tent | Glass Jar Cure with Inert gas Early taste test and I actually love this bud, is the best in house strain I've grown so far & the second Platinum cross. Flavorful Funky Sweet Orange cream cereal terps, the texture of the bud is buttery smooth, fluffy and pink/orange color when ground up. Bud has deeply potent effects that is IMO the perfect amount of heavy on the body but still euphoric and creative.. it makes you calm and happy! is checking off so many boxes not even cured, just smelling this batch makes a true connoisseur grin and bag appeal is insane

Overall everything is doing great. The Critical+ has the most trichrome coverage so far, but the DinaMed CBD+ has the thickest and densest buds. The Cream & Cheese CBD+ is somewhere in the middle - medium trichome coverage, medium density. But the Cream & Cheese CBD+ is the bushiest with the most amount of sugar leaves down the stalks with the buds. The 3 Cherry CBD Hemp plants are doing great also. They are the smallest 3 plants in group, but starting to show some red hairs. I think I'm about a month away from harvest. I'm not going to rush it, but that's what my guess is for now. I transplanted my babies from dixie cups to larger nursery pots. There are a variety of seedlings and clones going. I'll start a new diary for these babies soon with details on which strains, etc...

Heights are for the power flower which is under the 1000w light. growing super dense new branches everywhere hopefully can pull it apart a little when i get my screen in. Holy punch is 8" tall with 600W light 4" away. has been growing very bushy still easy to train.
