Week 2 of flower is complete, and the tent has turned into a JUNGLE! The Northern Lites 5000 (T-1000 [Triangle Kush x Purple Urkle] x Northern Lites #5) from Humboldt CSI are the tallest in the tent and have been crowding out their neighbors, especially some of the Lil' Red Riding Hoods (Zkittlex x Mendo Purps). I'm loving the stem rubs on the Lil' Reds, one of them smells distinctly berry to me, I'm excited to see how the smells develop as bud sites form and begin to stack.
I found another male this week.. This time it was one of Bodhi's Staff of Life, but an F2 batch of seeds that was made by @Jonpott_og. I'm really excited to try this strain, and was disappointed to have to chop another, but fortunately the canopy didn't suffer much, and in fact, probably benefited from the extra airflow. Speaking of airflow, I did perform more defoliation, particularly focusing on the lower 1. That is a /3 of the plants, and plan to continue light defoliation over the next two weeks to increase airflow and light penetration. Until this week, I've been mostly letting them run wild.
Also, I've got pollen arriving today! I ordered two strains of pollen: Goji OG and Sunshine Daydream. My plan is to make some crosses by pollinating only the lower branches. Any recommendations or strategies? My plan is to turn off all of the fans and equipment to make the air as stagnant as possible in order to minimize pollen blowing where I don't want it. I'm thinking of using a Q-tip or small soft brush to pollinate the chosen bud sites. Should I spray the tent down with water afterwards? I heard some spray after 24 hours to make sure there is nor more viable pollen flying around. Again, I've never tried this before and would love any advice! Happy Growing, everyone 😎
