๐ 8ร8 Adventure โ Week 14 ๐ฟ
Purple Haze by Zamnesia โ Pheno A
๐ The Big Mama Is Moving Fastโฆ But Is She Getting Close? ๐งก๐ธ๐ฅ
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another chapter of the 8ร8 Adventure! ๐ฑ๐
And here she is again...
Our Purple Haze Pheno A.
The Big Mama.
The girl who owns her corner.
The girl who has been building some seriously impressive flowers.
And the girl who continues to make me stop, look at her, and ask myself:
"How much further are you planning to take this?"
๐๐๐ฅ
Because this week, she's giving us something interesting to think about.
On one hand, she's still drinking plenty.
And that makes me think she may still have quite a bit of activity left in her.
On the other hand...
When I look closely at her flowers, the pistils, the colours, and the overall development, I'm seeing a different side of the story.
๐๐ธ๐งก
So what are we looking at?
A girl who's still got plenty of time ahead of her?
A girl who's beginning to approach the final stretch?
Or a girl who's simply going to keep confusing me until the day she decides she's ready?
๐๐๐
Honestly, I don't know yet.
And I'm not going to pretend I do.
That's why we're here.
We observe.
We compare.
We document.
And we let the plant tell us what's happening instead of making a decision based on one single sign.
One thing I do know...
She's beautiful.
She's substantial.
She's developing quickly.
And she absolutely deserves her own spotlight.
So let's make this Big Mama shine! ๐๐๐ธ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฅ WEEK 14 โ THE BIG MAMA KEEPS MOVING
If you've been following Purple Haze Pheno A from the beginning, you already know this girl isn't exactly shy.
๐๐
She's big.
She's substantial.
She's got presence.
And she certainly knows how to make herself noticed in the 8ร8 jungle.
But this week, what catches my attention isn't simply her size.
It's the way she's progressing.
The flowers are looking increasingly developed.
The orange tones in those pistils are becoming more noticeable.
The individual flower structures are giving us plenty to look at.
And the closer I get with the camera, the more details I notice.
She's moving.
She's changing.
She's developing.
But the question is whether all those changes mean she's getting close to the finish.
And that's where things become interesting.
Because the plant is giving us different clues.
So, rather than choosing the one that suits our expectations, we're going to look at the whole picture.
That's how we learn.
And that's how this girl gets the honest report she deserves.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ง SHE'S STILL DRINKING PLENTY!
Let's start with something I've noticed while looking after her.
She's still drinking a lot.
๐ง๐ฟ
And that's an important part of the picture.
Her water uptake makes me think that she may still have plenty of activity left in her.
But I also know better than to use drinking behaviour as a countdown clock.
Water consumption can change for several reasons, including environmental conditions, plant size, root activity, and the amount of leaf area still functioning.
A plant can continue taking up plenty of water while its flowers are maturing.
Equally, a change in water consumption doesn't automatically tell us that harvest is around the corner.
So I'm taking note of it, but I'm not making it the only deciding factor.
And that's the interesting thing about Purple Haze Pheno A this week.
Her drinking behaviour makes me hesitate to call her close to the end.
Her flowers, meanwhile, are giving me plenty to think about.
๐๐๐
Two observations.
One plant.
And no reason to rush into a conclusion.
We'll keep watching how she develops.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ THE CLOSE-UPS ARE TELLING ANOTHER STORY
Now, let's look closer.
Because this is where the photographs become particularly interesting.
From across the room, you see the Big Mama.
You see the size.
You see the overall structure.
You see those substantial flowers.
But when you get closer, the details begin to tell their own story.
๐ธ The flower structures.
๐งก The changing pistil colours.
๐ The visible resin.
๐ฟ The surrounding foliage.
๐ธ The differences between individual flowers.
And suddenly, the question becomes a little more complicated.
The plant is still drinking plenty, but visually, some of the flowers appear to be progressing toward greater maturity.
That doesn't automatically mean she's ready.
It simply means we have more than one thing to observe.
And this is precisely why I don't want to make a harvest prediction based on a single photograph, a week number, or how much water she's drinking.
The whole plant matters.
The flowers matter.
The progression over time matters.
And our observations matter.
So we're going to keep the camera close and let the evidence build.
๐๐ธ๐
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐งก THOSE ORANGE PISTILS ARE STILL STEALING THE SHOW
Seriously...
I love the colours developing on this girl.
๐๐งก๐
The contrast between her green foliage, the flowers, the visible resin, and those increasingly orange pistils gives her a beautiful appearance.
Earlier in the journey, we were looking at a much fresher-looking expression.
Now we're seeing more variation throughout the flowers.
And that's one of the reasons I enjoy photographing her every week.
We can look back at the previous images and see how her appearance has changed over time.
It's not just about showing people a pretty flower.
It's about documenting the transformation.
The colours.
The structure.
The development.
The details that become more noticeable as the plant progresses.
And Purple Haze Pheno A has given us plenty to appreciate.
๐๐ฟ๐งก๐ธ
I don't need to declare her finished to enjoy what she's becoming.
She's already giving us a beautiful chapter.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ BIG FLOWERS, BIG PRESENCE
And of course...
we need to talk about those flowers.
Because the Big Mama hasn't suddenly decided to become a small, discreet plant.
๐๐๐
She's still carrying some seriously substantial floral structures.
The overall plant has presence, and the flowers remain one of the first things that catch my attention.
Look at the full plant.
Then look at the individual flowers.
Then look closer again.
It's amazing how much detail you can miss when you only look from a distance.
And that's why I love having both full-plant photographs and close-ups in these diaries.
The full view tells us about her overall structure.
The close-ups show us the details developing within that structure.
Together, they give us a much better understanding of the plant we're following.
And with Purple Haze Pheno A, there's always something worth looking at.
๐๐ธ๐ธ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฟ BIG MAMA STILL OWNS HER CORNER
Some plants occupy space.
Others make you notice that they've occupied it.
๐๐๐
Purple Haze Pheno A definitely belongs in the second category.
She's substantial.
She's unmistakable.
And she's become one of those plants that immediately catches your attention when you look across the room.
But what I like most is that we haven't needed to keep manipulating her to make her interesting.
The plant has developed her own structure.
The flowers are doing their thing.
The colours are changing.
And she's continuing to progress.
Our job is to keep observing her, monitor the shared environment, and provide what she needs.
We're not trying to force her to become something else.
She's already Purple Haze Pheno A.
And she's doing a pretty damn good job of being herself.
๐๐๐ฟ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ง SOโฆ IS SHE CLOSE TO THE FINISH?
This is the question, isn't it?
๐๐โณ
And honestly, I'm not ready to give a definite answer.
Her water consumption suggests that she's still actively using plenty of water.
The flowers, pistils, and overall appearance are showing their own progression.
But neither observation, by itself, tells us exactly how much time remains.
Changing pistil colour can be part of flower maturation, but it isn't a reliable harvest indicator on its own.
Likewise, drinking plenty doesn't prove that a plant is far from finishing.
We need to consider the complete picture and keep comparing what we see over time.
So for now, I'm keeping an open mind.
I'm not going to call her finished just because some flowers look mature.
I'm not going to say she has weeks left simply because she's still drinking a lot.
And I'm definitely not going to invent a harvest date just to make the diary sound more certain.
๐๐ฟ
Let's see what happens.
The Big Mama has surprised us before.
And I wouldn't be surprised if she has a few more surprises waiting for us.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฑ OBSERVATION OVER INTERVENTION
One of the biggest themes throughout this part of the 8ร8 Adventure is that we're not doing much physically to the plants anymore.
And that's intentional.
Earlier in the grow, there was plenty to manage.
Plant structure.
Positioning.
Training.
Canopy development.
Environmental adjustments.
Now, the plants have established their structures, and we're watching the results of all those previous weeks.
We're observing.
We're documenting.
We're monitoring the environment.
We're providing the care the plants need.
And we're avoiding unnecessary intervention simply because we feel we should be doing something.
Purple Haze Pheno A is still progressing beautifully.
So we're letting her continue.
Sometimes the most useful thing a grower can do is pay attention rather than constantly interfere.
And this week, the Big Mama is giving us plenty to pay attention to.
๐๐ฟ๐
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ธ THE CAMERA IS STILL LOVING HER
And how could it not?
๐๐ธ๐
Full-plant photographs.
Individual flowers.
Close-ups.
Different angles.
Different details.
Every view gives us something slightly different.
The full plant shows us her presence in the room.
The flower photographs show us the developing structures.
The close-ups help us appreciate the colours, pistils, and resin.
And when we compare these images with the photographs from previous weeks, we can follow her progression rather than relying on memory alone.
That's what makes a diary valuable.
We don't have to remember exactly what she looked like several weeks ago.
We can look back.
We can compare.
We can learn.
And we can appreciate the changes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Purple Haze Pheno A has earned her photographic privileges.
๐๐๐
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
โ๏ธ THE ARTIFICIAL SUN โ FUTURE OF GROW BLACK SERIES
Our upgraded lighting setup remains part of the 8ร8 experiment.
The Future of Grow Black Series LEDs continue providing the main lighting, with the two additional Black Series 600W fixtures supplied for this project included in the setup.
We're controlling the output instead of simply running everything at maximum.
Our previous lighting reference was approximately:
๐ 59% power from the plug
โ๏ธ Around 1,500 PPFD across the upper canopy
Actual light intensity varies throughout the canopy depending on plant height, position, and distance from the fixtures.
And that's particularly important in a room containing twelve plants with different structures.
We're not lighting a flat surface.
We're lighting a three-dimensional garden.
The upper canopy receives one level of light, while the deeper parts of each plant receive different amounts depending on their position.
Purple Haze Pheno A is part of that shared environment, and we're continuing to observe her response as she develops.
A massive thank you to Future of Grow for supplying the two additional Black Series 600W fixtures for this experiment.
Having additional lighting capability while retaining control over the output has been a valuable part of documenting this room.
๐ก๐ฑโ๏ธ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
โ๏ธ SAME PHOTONS โ DIFFERENT EXPRESSION
This is still one of my favourite parts of the 8ร8 Adventure.
We provide a shared environment.
The plants respond as individuals.
Some develop quickly.
Some take their time.
Some become substantial plants.
Some remain compact.
Some show more advanced-looking flowers while others continue developing at a different pace.
And Purple Haze Pheno A?
She's our Big Mama, with her own structure, her own flower development, and her own timeline.
๐๐๐
The lighting is only one part of the overall environment, so we're not going to attribute every difference to photons alone.
Genetics, plant development, and the wider growing conditions all contribute to the final expression.
But following these plants side by side gives us a fascinating opportunity to observe how differently they develop under the same general setup.
Same room.
Same artificial sun.
Different responses.
That's the experiment.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ด THE RED-LIGHT UPDATE โ DOCUMENTING THE EXTRA 15 MINUTES
As with the other reports, we're also documenting our additional 15-minute red-light period after the main lighting period.
Red and far-red wavelengths interact with the plant's phytochrome system, which helps plants interpret their light environment.
The response depends on the wavelength, intensity, timing, duration, and the rest of the growing conditions.
That's why we're documenting this as part of our lighting routine rather than claiming that it automatically improves flowering or brings harvest closer.
Purple Haze Pheno A is showing us an interesting combination this week.
She's still drinking plenty, while the flowers and pistils are also showing visible changes.
We can't attribute that combination to the red-light period without evidence.
What we can do is record the routine, continue observing the plant, and compare her progress over time.
That's a much more useful approach than promising a result before we've demonstrated it.
๐ด๐ฑ๐ฌ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฌ A LITTLE LIGHT SCIENCE โ THE EMERSON EFFECT
While we're talking about red light, let's revisit the Emerson effect.
The Emerson effect is an established phenomenon in photosynthesis in which combining certain red and far-red wavelengths can produce a greater-than-expected photosynthetic response under suitable experimental conditions.
It involves the cooperation between the two major photosystems involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis:
๐ฟ Photosystem II (PSII)
๐ฟ Photosystem I (PSI)
Their light-absorption characteristics differ, and under certain conditions, supplying suitable wavelengths together can improve the balance between their activity.
It's a fascinating example of how plant responses to light can be more complex than simply increasing the amount of illumination.
However, the important distinction is that the Emerson effect doesn't mean every red-light treatment produces the same outcome.
Red and far-red light are not interchangeable, and the result depends on the spectrum, intensity, timing, and experimental conditions.
Our additional 15-minute red-light period is something we're documenting in this room.
We're not claiming that it automatically reproduces the Emerson effect or guarantees faster flower development, increased yield, or earlier maturity.
Those conclusions would require suitable measurements and controlled comparisons.
The science is fascinating.
The routine is worth documenting.
And the results should speak for themselves.
That's how we keep learning.
๐ก๐ฌ๐ฑ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
โ๏ธ NUTRITION โ KEEPING THE ROOM CONSISTENT
The last recorded shared nutrition reference was:
๐ฑ Plagron Pure Zym โ 1 ml/L
โ๏ธ Plagron pH Plus โ 0.03 ml/L
๐ Plagron Lemon Kick โ 0.03 ml/L
๐ธ Plagron Terra Bloom โ 2.0 ml/L
๐ฟ Plagron Power Buds โ 1 ml/L
๐ฏ Plagron Sugar Royal โ 1 ml/L
๐ฑ Plagron Green Sensation โ 1 ml/L
The previous recorded solution readings were approximately:
โ๏ธ pH โ 6.04
โก EC โ 2.05 mS/cm
These are the previous room reference values, not newly verified measurements for this particular update.
The nutritional approach remains consistent with the wider project, while our observations continue to focus on how each plant is progressing.
And with Purple Haze Pheno A, we're paying attention to both her continued water consumption and the changes visible in her flowers.
We don't need to invent a new intervention simply because she's giving us mixed clues about her progress.
We need to keep observing.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ก๏ธ WEEK 14 โ ROOM CONDITIONS
The previous shared room reference was:
๐ธ Flowering โ Week 14
๐ก Light schedule โ 12/12
๐ก Main lighting โ Future of Grow Black Series LEDs
๐ Approximate lighting output โ 59% from the plug
โ๏ธ Upper-canopy PPFD reference โ ~1,500
๐ก๏ธ Day temperature โ ~26.5โ27ยฐC
๐ Night temperature โ ~25โ26ยฐC
๐ง Relative humidity โ ~60โ61%
๐ฑ Substrate temperature โ ~25โ26ยฐC
๐ฆ Nutrient solution temperature โ ~25ยฐC
โ๏ธ Previous pH reading โ ~6.04
โก Previous EC reading โ ~2.05 mS/cm
๐ฌ๏ธ COโ โ ~693 ppm
๐ง Previous irrigation reference โ ~1.4โ1.45 L per plant / 24h
๐ฑ Pot size โ 15 L
These are the previous shared room readings for context, not a claim that every value was measured again this week.
Same general environment.
Same lighting ecosystem.
Same room.
And twelve different plants continuing to write twelve different stories.
๐๐ฟโ๏ธ
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ฌ SAME ROOM โ DIFFERENT FINISH LINES
The deeper we go into this adventure, the more interesting the differences become.
Some plants are moving toward maturity quickly.
Others are still developing.
Some are drinking heavily.
Some have changed their water consumption.
Some show more advanced-looking pistils.
Others are still displaying plenty of fresh white hairs.
And Purple Haze Pheno A is giving us a combination that's keeping me curious.
She's still drinking plenty.
Her flowers are developing.
Her pistils are changing colour.
And she's still a substantial plant with plenty of visual presence.
We're not going to use any one of those observations to declare exactly where she is in the finishing process.
Instead, we'll keep looking at the complete plant and comparing her progress from week to week.
That's the beauty of having twelve individual diaries.
We can follow every girl's journey without pretending they all have the same finish line.

โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
๐ญ LOOKING AHEAD โ LET'S SEE WHAT SHE TELLS US
This is where the curiosity really kicks in.
Because I genuinely want to see how this girl progresses from here.
Will her water consumption change?
Will the flowers continue developing at the same pace?
How will the pistils and overall appearance evolve?
Will the next set of photographs make her stage of development clearer?
We'll see.
๐๐๐ธ
I'm not putting a deadline on her.
I'm not predicting an exact harvest date.
And I'm not going to pretend the clues are more conclusive than they actually are.
For now, we're observing a plant that's still drinking plenty while showing visible changes in her flowers.
That's the honest picture.
And it's enough to make me curious about the next chapter.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
โค๏ธ FINAL THOUGHTS โ THE BIG MAMA IS STILL FULL OF SURPRISES
Week 14.
And Purple Haze Pheno A is still doing what she does best.
Making herself noticed.
๐๐๐ฅ
She's big.
She's beautiful.
She's carrying substantial flowers.
Those orange pistils continue to catch my eye.
The close-ups are showing us plenty of detail.
And she's still drinking a lot.
That's the part that makes me hesitate to call her close to the finish, even while some of the visual signs are giving us plenty to think about.
So what do we do?
We watch.
We compare.
We document.
We keep the environment under observation.
And we let the next chapter tell us more.
๐๐๐ฟ
No guessing games.
No artificial deadlines.
No pretending that one sign tells the whole story.
Just an honest diary following one individual plant through her own journey.
And that's exactly why I love this project.
Twelve plants.
One shared room.
Different genetics.
Different expressions.
Different timelines.
Purple Haze Pheno A is still our Big Mama.
She's still impossible to ignore.
And she's still giving us reasons to bring the camera closer.
๐๐งก๐ธ๐
So let's give her the spotlight.
Let's appreciate those flowers.
Let's enjoy the colours.
Let's observe her water consumption.
Let's keep documenting the changes.
And let's wait to see what she does next.
Keep shining, Big Mama.
Keep doing your thing.
We're watching, we're learning, and we're enjoying the journey.
