🌿 Amnesia Skunk Auto — Week 9 From Seed (Week 5 Flower) We’re back with the Amnesia Skunk auto, and before we dive into this week, let’s take a second to understand how we got here. This run has been a bit different from the traditional approach. Even though we’re working with autoflowers, the environment has been set under a 12/12 light cycle from seed — what we’ve been calling a “no veg” approach. Now, to clarify — it’s not that the plant doesn’t vegetate. It does. But it does so on its own internal clock, not because we extended light hours to push vegetative growth. So what happens? The plant never gets the signal to fully stretch and build structure like in a classic veg phase, which results in: • more compact plants • tighter node spacing • earlier transition into flower • and a much faster lifecycle overall And that’s exactly what we’re seeing here. ⸻ 🌱 This Week — The Story of the White Hairs (Pistils) This week, the stars of the show are the white hairs — the pistils. Those fine white strands you’re seeing shooting out of the buds are the female reproductive organs of the plant. Their role is simple, but powerful: They are designed to catch pollen. Each pistil is connected to an ovule inside the calyx. If pollinated, that’s where seeds would form. But in our case — no pollen, no seeds — so the plant continues to push energy into: 👉 resin production 👉 bud swelling 👉 terpene expression That’s why you’ll notice: • fresh, bright white pistils = active growth phase • constant new pistil production = plant still building mass And right now? She’s in full production mode. ⸻ 🌿 Structure & Development What’s really interesting here is the morphology. These are currently the most compact plants in the room, sitting around ~90 cm, but: • dense structure • tight internodes • bud sites stacked closely The buds themselves are already: • forming tight • showing early frost • pushing aroma earlier than expected For a plant that never had a traditional veg window, this is honestly impressive. ⸻ 🌡️ Environment & Feeding We’ve kept things stable and consistent: • Temperature: ~28°C • Humidity: ~65% RH • pH: ~6.5 • EC: ~2.0 Water intake is sitting at around 1.5L per plant per day, which tells us: 👉 metabolism is active 👉 root zone is functioning well 👉 demand is increasing as flowers build ⸻ ⚡ On the “No Veg” Approach This run continues to reinforce something interesting: You don’t always need a long veg phase to get quality results. What you get instead is: • speed • control over height • uniform canopy • faster turnover But also: • smaller overall plant size • less room for recovery from stress • everything happens quicker, so mistakes show faster It’s a different rhythm — not better, not worse — just a different way to grow. ⸻ 🔮 What to Expect Next Week Looking ahead: You should expect: • pistils continuing to multiply • buds starting to stack and swell more aggressively • resin production increasing noticeably • aromas becoming stronger and more defined What not to expect (yet): • no major calyx swelling peak yet • no heavy pistil browning yet • no final density — we’re still building We’re still in that “construction phase”, not the finishing stage. ⸻ 🤝 Gratitude As always — thank you. To everyone following: • the day ones • the new eyes • the silent watchers • the supporters • even the critics To the community, to GrowDiaries, to the sponsors, to the genetics behind this run — and to everyone growing alongside us. *Here is a link to video on the Harvest. https://youtu.be/aZUOrljaioc 9/23/23 - Day 114 - Today was going to be the Chop, but I will wait one more day. I was not able to dedicate the full time I needed to make this happen today, so I decided I would give it one more day. One thing I am noticing is the color of the leaves. I've always wanted to grow a strain that has purple in it, and it looks like this plant turned super purple. I couldn't tell because of the lights. 9/24/23 - Day 115 - I'm 2hrs away from chopping. With the Leaf box, you have to stay on your timeline, No rushing it, and no waiting. Always right on time. I started the grow at 3 pm 115 days ago so from 3 pm - 3 pm is a full 24/hrs. I'll update after 3 p.m. I already have my tripod, tools, cleaning materials, etc., up and ready. We will drain the water, ill then remove the roots and clean out the tub. Then, I'll start to remove the branches one at a time. Once they are removed, I will then get the hanging supports in place. Then I will hang them upside down and hope there is enough room. :) I've noticed I have a lot of views on this grow. One thing I feel I should do a better job of (based on all the messages I received) is documenting the process that I follow throughout the grow. So I'll start my next grow in November. I'll document it with better "this is how I do this in Leaf" type details. 2 hours and counting! See you at 3 PM! 9/24/23 - I started at 3 p.m. and finally finished around 9 p.m. Holy shit, am I tired...... I have a lot of pictures and videos to upload. I'll add some photos tonight with some videos to follow tomorrow. I don't know how much I have yet, I need to wait until I can jar them to weigh them. I was able to get all the buds off and hung. With a couple of bags of A/B stock (Snicklefritz) of leftovers that I didn't want to hang. In just the Snicklefritz, I had 219g of wet buds. Ill know the full dry amount in a couple of days. I was REALLY happy with the amount of buds. There were more than 75 branches of bud to hang/dry. Its the most weed I have grown ever. Now that the buds are all back in the box. The Leaf box will handle all of the drying process. It will maintain temperature as well as humidity. I now wait and check daily to check for dryness. Here is a link to video on the Harvest. https://youtu.be/aZUOrljaioc 9/26/23 - The buds are way more dry today. Im getting some really nice citrus smell from them. I think one more day should work before I start putting them in jars. I already trimmed them. Its a prefrence on trimming before/after drying. Becuase I had so much I wanted to make sure there was enough air space. This is my first grow in this box so this will be floor, theres no where to go but up from here. Im hoping to finish out this journal in September with a final weight.

Letting her rip. Full on feeding now she seemed to have a deficiency this last week. Seemed it was a bit too cold for her new growth. It has darkened up as I turned the heat back up in my house. Strawberry cough is stinky. The smaller one doesn't really smell. Not expecting much from her. Started my vanilla frosting haze crosses on like Wednesday. Oh I added worm castings to both top soils and a layer of rice hulls over top as a mulch layer. I did this to help the soil in case the yellowing was from a ph issue or somehow a nitrogen issue which I doubt.

Happy New Year GD people, lets put this one way behind us and look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel, its darkest before the dawn so stay lifted and safe. This weeks time lapse was a big bucket of suck! the camera was not on any plant just pointed at the floor of the tent you can see a little in the corner but all in all an epic fail. The plants did not care however, they responded well to the topping and they are getting really bushy. I raised my lights to try to help them stretch. The Strawberry Ice is a tour de force in the veg stage. The Blue Dream Haze is about average and the reboot is coming along. This Royal Gold coco "Tupur" says it can be watered up to six times a day. I have not had to water these girls for about 3-4 days the media really retains the moisture I am afraid if I water more frequently I will rot the roots. My watering is based on the pot weight. If they are heavy let them dry out and water when light. I'm giving them a late veg feeding per the Emerald Harvest 3 part nutrient series feeding chart with an added blast of CAL MAG. The TUPRU says on the bag it needs the extra CAL MAG. Time to LST these ladies for the next 2 weeks then flipping them to flower. gonna adjust the camera and hope to get a good shot the the LTS bounce back. TTFN.

Animal Mints — Legends of the Frozen North Part 2 — Drying, Trimming & Preserving the Harvest Before we begin, once again, we want to apologize for dividing this harvest into multiple reports. We know it can feel like a long journey to follow week after week, but honestly, this is the only way we can properly document everything in the level of detail that these plants deserve. Harvesting, drying, trimming, curing, resin collection, storage methods, smoke reviews… all of these stages are part of the final medicine. And instead of rushing through it in one giant post, we prefer to slow down and share every step in the most educational and transparent way possible. So welcome back to the frozen north. This is Part 2. ⸻ Ten days later, the room had completely changed. The giant living plants we harvested in the previous report had now transformed into hanging medicine. Slowly drying in darkness, at around 18–20°C and roughly 60% humidity, allowing the moisture to leave the flowers gradually instead of forcing them dry too quickly. For the first couple of days, humidity was brought slightly lower to help remove excess external moisture, but after that, conditions stabilized again for the slow dry we love so much. And then came that moment every grower knows. That little click. That beautiful snap in the branches that tells you the plant is finally ready. Not too wet. Not too dry. Just right. And honestly… after seeing these girls hanging there for days, fully intact, massive branches swinging slowly in the dark, it was finally time to begin the next ritual. Trimming day. ⸻ Gloves on. Scissors ready. Trim bin prepared. Medicine beside us. Mr. Baggy supervising operations as always. One branch at a time, we carefully broke the plants down by hand, slowly removing each flower from the stems before shaping every nug individually. No rush. No machine trimming. No shortcuts. Just patience, resin, and respect for the plant. And these Animal Mints girls absolutely covered everything in trichomes. The moment trimming started, the gloves became sticky almost immediately. Thick resin building layer after layer until eventually it rolled naturally into small dark hash balls directly from the fingers and gloves themselves. This is one of those little moments we genuinely love about harvest season. That sticky resin coating the gloves is essentially concentrated trichome resin — cannabinoids, terpenes, waxes, oils, and all the aromatic compounds that make the plant what it is. With a little warmth from the hands and gentle pressure, it naturally rolls together into traditional finger hash. Simple. Ancient. Beautiful. And of course… we also continued our little Moroccan-style “drums” with the trim. By gently agitating the dried trim across the screens, we collected an absolutely beautiful amount of dry sift. Bright golden-yellow resin, soft and sandy, full of aroma and life. No exact scale numbers this time — this was more about enjoying the process than chasing statistics — but the quality spoke for itself immediately. Honestly, this type of hash is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the plant. A little inside a joint, slowly melting together with the flower, enhancing both flavor and depth without overpowering the experience. Pure magic. ⸻ Now let’s talk numbers. And honestly… these girls performed beautifully. Plant A gave us: 127g Plant B gave us: 247.8g Plant C gave us: 287.9g For dense, compact, heavily resinous flowers grown 12/12 from seed, this is an outstanding result in our eyes. Especially considering the morphology of these plants. This style of growing continues to impress us more and more every single run. The plants remain relatively compact vertically, but the flower production becomes incredibly efficient. Tight node spacing. Massive bud stacking. Heavy trichome production. Strong support structure. Dense flowers without absurd plant height. The frozen north delivered once again. And standing there in the studio holding entire branches in both hands… honestly, it was impossible not to smile. Happy grower moment. ⸻ Once trimming was complete, the next mission began: Preserving the terpenes. Because harvest means nothing if the cure is bad. So this time we decided to test multiple storage methods side by side. Some flowers went into traditional glass jars — still one of our absolute favorite methods for long-term curing. Stable, simple, reliable, and something we continue to trust deeply. Some flowers went into vacuum-style Zamnesia metal containers, where air can be partially removed while maintaining stable conditions inside. Others went into vacuum plastic containers with pressure-sealed lids. And finally, part of the harvest also went into Grove Bags, since the yield was simply too large not to use multiple preservation systems. Inside several containers we also added 62% humidity control packs. These packs are not “magic terpene creators” or anything like that — they simply help stabilize relative humidity inside the container, preventing flowers from becoming either too dry or too moist during curing. The flowers themselves were already dried correctly before storage. That part is important. Humidity packs are not there to fix bad drying. They are there to help maintain stability afterward. And honestly, one of the most exciting things now will be revisiting these exact same flowers months later to compare how each storage method affected aroma, texture, smoothness, and terpene expression over time. Because curing is alive. Medicine changes. Terpenes evolve. And that journey is part of the magic too. ⸻ One thing we also want to mention is how much easier trimming became with the curved point Zamnesia scissors. It might sound like a tiny detail, but those curved tips genuinely help reach deep into dense flowers without damaging structure, allowing cleaner trimming while preserving the natural shape of the buds. Small tools. Big difference. ⸻ By the end of this session, trays were full, jars were packed, hash was collected, gloves were destroyed by resin, and the studio smelled absolutely unreal. pine, diesel and earthy. Animal Mints is looking amazing. And honestly… looking at those giant trimmed branches in the studio lights, it was one of those moments where you simply stop for a second and appreciate the entire journey from seed to harvest. Because this is more than growing plants. This is preservation of flavor. Preservation of resin. Preservation of time, patience, and intention. ⸻ But we are still not done. Not even close. The next report will be the final chapter of this frozen journey: the smoke review, terpene breakdown, curing evolution, flavor analysis, effects, and our complete final thoughts on Animal Mints from seed to harvest. And trust us… This girl still has a lot to say. ⸻ Huge thanks once again to everyone following this journey: Zamnesia for the genetics, Plagron,FOG Lighting, the gear sponsors, the community, GrowDiaries, the growers supporting from day one, the silent followers, the commenters, the critics, the legends, the OGs… And of course, thank you to everyone taking the time to read these reports week after week. April 26, 2024 Day 71 It's a new week and the start of late flower. It was also cleaning day. Both reservoirs have been cleaned out and are freshly loaded with new water. This week we are focusing on watering and nutrients. I may start to drop the dose until flush, over this week and the next. The light power will also be gradually dropped down over the next 2 weeks. Not much this week, I think I'll drop the DLI down to 43 mol/m²/d in the middle of the week. Next week I'll drop it down to 38 mol/m²/d. It all depends on what the plants look like. The plants are getting ready to hunker down and finish up. Both have decent sized buds and just need to finish swelling. I'd say another 2 weeks maybe? Flushing will start at some point over the next 2 weeks as well. Flushing won't be much of a big deal as it's just cleaning the reservoirs and running a week of Flawless Finish. The environment is changing a bit as well. I dropped the day temp down to 75° and the night temps to 65° or lower. Not cold enough to cause stress, but enough to get some purple I hope. The humidity is sitting at 47% and I'll be leaving it there unless somehow I can get it to go lower. For now it's pretty solid at 47% and everything looks great, so no need to worry. I'll be taking trichome pics every few days. One pic for each plant. No point in loading up the whole photo gallery with even more daily pics. Plus, the progression of trichomes isn't fast enough to really notice daily. So every 3 days should be fine. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.2° RH: 47.7% VPD: 1.49 kPa April 27, 2024 Nothing happening today. Both ladies were inspected with no issues. I snipped a single leaf off of Banana Purple Punch B. Just one. Blocking bud sites. Banana Purple Punch A has some massive buds. About the size of golf balls. Maybe a bit smaller. They are still swelling and have a good 2 weeks left. Pistils are still mostly white, so that's a good sign for larger buds and more trichomes. Banana Purple Punch B is looking wonderful as ever. She doesn't seem to be suffering any issues with nutrient burn unlike her sister plant. She's perfectly healthy and has very nice bud production. The buds aren't quite as big as Banana Purple Punch A, but still nice and sizeable. The nutrient burn seems to have stopped for Banana Purple Punch A. So that's good. It should be perfectly fine now. Lighting is staying the same for the next couple of days. Although, I may keep it the same for the rest of the week. The environment is excellent now. It's raining today and the humidity is still at 47%. I did get it down to 44% for most of the afternoon yesterday, so I may be able to keep it down after the rain stops. Or just wait for the afternoon and see what happens. Either way, the humidity is now at 47% and the temp is at 76.8°. The VPD is at 1.57 kPa. A tiny bit high, but still well within range. Last night's temp was a little high at 69°. I'll have to drop the temp lower again to get that 65° sweet spot. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.4° RH: 45.7% VPD: 1.55 kPa April 28, 2024 Not much to do today. I mixed a new batch of nutrients for both plants. The only difference is that I cut the Overdrive in half down to 2 ml/gal. Neither plant needs it, but now it's mixed and ready to go. I may end up filling the reservoirs tonight as it stands. Or later this afternoon. I don't think they will last til tomorrow morning. Both plants are putting off a wonderful aroma. I honestly can't describe it. Like sweet and kind of a hint of banana and a bit heady. Trichome production is picking up quickly. The pistils are starting to turn orange as well. They are definitely in the late flowering stage. I think I'll start dropping the nutrients for the next watering. And I'll drop the DLI down to 40 mol/m²/d tomorrow I think. Not much else to say about nutrients or lighting, so moving on to the environment. It's a warm humid day out and raining off and on. My whole environment is wonky, with humidity being at 57% and the temp at 77°. I turned the AC on about an hour ago and the temp went down to 75°, and humidity up to 60%. I think I'll crank the AC all the way down. And hopefully get rid of the humidity with the temp being a bit lower than perfect. Update: I ended up adding about a half gallon of plain water to both reservoirs. Just Incase I have nutrient lockout or something. They should go through that by tomorrow afternoon. Maybe late evening. Grow System Environment: Temp: 75.6° RH: 52.8% VPD: 1.39 kPa April 29, 2024 No watering today. I'm still waiting for the plain water work it's way through. However, I did drop the light power. Both ladies look great. Big buds, great scent and nice color. I'm not seeing any fade yet, but the nutrient burn is still there. I hope it will fix itself with the plain water. And then maybe fading will start. These two need a good 2 weeks or so before harvest. The lighting, as I said, was changed today. I dropped the power down to 70% to get as close as possible to 40 mol/m²/d. I may have to drop it another 10%. I'm not too sure. I'll check the DLI again when I'm more awake. (I'm finally on my second cup of coffee. Lol) Looks good though. Just around where I want it to be. But there are a lot of spots where the DLI is a bit high at 43 mol/m²/d. The tallest tops are also kind of high at 45 mol/m²/d. Again, I'll double check on a couple hours, but it should be fine. The environment is wonky again today. The temp is fine, but the humidity is still high at 60% and I don't see a way to drop it again. Not with the current weather. Hopefully I can get it down with some heat. The AC method did not work. Well, it maybe will work tonight. I'll be dropping that bad boy down to 59° tonight and hopefully it will do what I need it to. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.2° RH: 59.8% VPD: 1.15 kPa April 30, 2024 Watering day. The reservoirs were both nearly empty and there was just enough space for a full gallon in each one. It's the normal nutrient dose with Overdrive being at 2 ml/gal. These two plants are looking mighty fine. Excellent bud swelling and trichome production. I'm definitely going to be wet trimming them instead of my normal dry trim. I may leave the bods on the branches and do a partial wet trim, or I guess mostly wet trim. They smell great! Very strong aroma now. I swear they smell like artificial grape. I can't describe it any other way. Grape and pungent. Awesome. So far the light seems to be fine. No reaching or showing any signs of lack of lighting. They look pretty happy. Although, Banana Purple Punch A is a bit sad from nutrient burn. Banana Purple Punch B however didn't seem to have much of a problem with the burn. The environment is still pretty wonky. High humidity again. I can control the temp pretty easily, but the humidity is another issue. It's currently sitting at 56% and I'm holding the temp at 76°. Grow System Environment: Temp: 75.5° RH: 57.0% VPD: 1.26 kPa May 1, 2024 Not a whole lot going on today. No water needed, no light changes. I rotated both ladies 180° so now they are getting light on other sides. I'll leave them like this for the rest of the grow I think. Banana Purple Punch A actually fits better in the new position. Less wall touching and about the same neighboring plant touching. I also removed 3 leaves. Ones that were misshapen from being crushed against the tent walls. Banana Purple Punch B seems to fit a little better in the new position, mostly because of her sister plant. More room on the outside and a little less room inside. No leaves were removed today. I'll reserve that for the last 2 days of the grow cycle. Then I'll do a massive defoliation and then a wet trim. It's humid here right now and I need the space. Otherwise I'd stick with dry trimming. But I can't hold up the tent for 3 more weeks. I have other plants getting ready to be planted in their final containers. Like a week for that, I might be able to squeeze a week and a half, but that's it. They will have a space, but the main tent is where they will need to be. Not a 2x2 dry tent. I'll work it how I need to I guess. Anyway, both ladies look great! Trichome production is coming along nicely as well. They are very smelly now and I love it. They are also still packing on weight I think. Not a ton, but the buds are clearly getting denser now that some of the pistils are starting to turn orange. I'd say another 2 weeks on these two. As I said, the lighting hasn't changed at all. Not for another few days to a week. Then it will have another power drop. Until then, we are staying at a DLI of 40 mol/m²/d. It's roughly 38 mol/m²/d on the outer part of the canopy. The environment is STILL wonky. I cannot for the life of me get that damned humidity down at all. Not with a dehumidifier, not with the heat cranked, not with the AC cranked. I'll try my big dehumidifier in my room, but the humidity is like 49% and frankly I'd rather the room humidity stay there. Much easier to breathe. However, the humidity in the tent is suffering at 59% while the temp is hanging out still at 76° Grow System Environment: Temp: 75.2° RH: 56.1% VPD: 1.27 kPa May 2, 2024 Not a lot going on today. No watering needed, no trimming, nothing. I found a broken bud on Banana Purple Punch A. It must have been from when it was against the wall, or too close to the other plants and got stuck on a branch while I was rotating. Oh well. It's a lower bud, so not huge. It's also the last day of the week and that means new videos! For the rest of the grow, I'll be making weekly videos of the individual plants. So that will.be this week and the next 2 weeks or so. Banana Purple Punch A looks great aside from that one broken bud. Her buds are fat and thick. Super dense from what I can see. I would like to note that the fade hasn't started yet, so we still have that 2 weeks left. Unless it starts in the next day or 2, I'll be banking on 2 weeks. Banana Purple Punch B is still compact as ever, but her buds are getting fatter everyday and of all the plants in the tent, she has done the best with the nutrients. Very little burn and didn't seem to be bothered by it. Maybe I did something early on to have such a small plant, but still. I think I can bank on 2 oz from each plant. Maybe 3 oz. It's really nothing compared to previous grows, but as I said before, as long as it's fire, I'm happy. Trichome production on both plants is fantastic. They are loaded from top to bottom. And building more and more everyday. There's still plenty of time left for there 2 as well. Most of the trichomes are clear with about 20% being cloudy and sparsely amber. That's another sign that they need another couple of weeks. Maybe slightly less. I increased the light power yesterday back up to 80%. I think I was a bit early on the intensity drop, so I'll drop it again in a few days I think. Around mid week coming up. Now we are running a DLI of 43 mol/m²/d inside and 40 mol/m²/d on the outside. The environment kinda fixed itself, but not to the ideal climate. It's still at 55% humidity. Better than 60%, but still not good enough. It needs to be below 50%. However, I can still control the temp and I have it at 74.5°. I'll turn it up a bit and see if I can clear out the last 5% of the humidity. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.7° RH: 55.2% VPD: 1.24 kPa Update: I added a couple test videos to see if they would upload. Success!

Supper cropped because plant got taller than expected. Was too close to light. Tallest branches around 3 feet tall. I defoliated 2 weeks into flower. I also took clones today. Sweet gassy smell. Have light on 75% intensity since it is so close. Depending how plants respond I may just keep the intensity there.

Hi, I am doing a little bit of pruning work, since there is a lot of it, choosing the ripe tops for a start, I think it will last another 2-3 weeks, there is an awesome smell in my whole house, I think my neighbors also feel it ... . if only the police would not feel passing by))) the first batch of haircuts, drying, then I will treat and I can tell about the taste, but it seems to me it will be perfect)

A few of the zed blacks hermed..spreading pollen into the flower tent. Already seeing some seeds develop. It is what it is. I should have done a better job checking on them. I kept the Zed blacks that only had a couple flowers on the bottom but tossed anything that had flowers growing up the majority of the plant. Some of the most famous strains in the world were self pollinated so I don't have issues with a couple male flowers. They're just trying to improve their fitness as nature intended. The plants are doing very well. A few of the bottom leaves are dying which is normal...senecense! Sucking up those nutrients. I've been liquid feeding using the fish, seaweed, humate and recharge. I have saved the males and they are trying to reveg. Still popping out a few flowers which I'm cutting off. 1 rainbow belt. 1 zed black. 3 hash plants The hash plants are smelling incredible. Definitely a few keepers mixed in here. Maybe 3/7. Hopefully the quality of the flower backs it up. Zed blacks have 2/3 I'm interested in. One is very very low yield. Unless its a really high quality plant I'm gonna toss it Rainbow belts are both smelling ridiculous. Super frosty. Good yield. One is slightly more frosted than the other. The zkittles pheno has pure Skittles smell with a little lemon cleaner chem to back it up. Probably my keeper!
