We’ve decided it’s time to chop them down! 🌱✂️
The trichomes are fully mature now. One of the plants might even have gone a little past its peak, but I’m actually curious to see what kind of differences in effects this will bring. Always something new to learn with every grow! 🌞
We followed our usual drying process. The plants were hung whole for 3 days, followed by a wet trim. After 8 days of drying, we gave the buds a final manicure before putting them into jars with 62% Boveda packs for curing.
Humidity was on point during drying, but unfortunately, we couldn’t keep the temperature consistent. I can’t wait for the first taste! The combination of aromas is amazing and truly unique. 💨💚
Blueberry Cupcake – Final Smoke Report 🍇⛽
Aroma & Flavour
This has exceeded every expectation I had. The most complex and impressive flavour profile I’ve ever experienced.
The first thing that hits is the sweet, tangy berry aroma, quickly followed by a distinct fuel kick. On the exhale, the flavour becomes smooth, soft and creamy, with a rich berry profile that lingers on the palate long after the session.
The combination of sweet berries and gassy undertones creates a genuinely unique experience. Every layer adds something different, making this one of the most impressive flavour profiles I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing.
Effects
A true heavy hitter. The initial impact hits hard, almost like a knockout, before gradually settling into a euphoric, chilled-out state of mind.
What really stands out is the way the effects develop. After that powerful initial hit, everything slowly eases into relaxation without leaving behind any strange vibes or an uncomfortable comedown. It feels like a smooth transition from the initial punch into a calm, euphoric chill.
Bud Structure & Consistency
There were some noticeable differences in bud structure between the three plants. One produced fluffier buds, which I suspect may have been more affected by the stress experienced during the grow, while the other two developed dense, chunky flowers.
Despite these structural differences, the flavour and effects were very similar across all three plants. This suggests a reliable and consistent strain, delivering a comparable overall experience even when individual plants develop differently.🍇💜🔥
Blueberry Cupcake – The Complete Grow Journey
This 19-week journey with three Blueberry Cupcake plants has been a real learning experience, full of challenges, adjustments, and rewarding moments.👨🏻🌾
From Seedling to Vegetative Growth🌱
The journey started with three Blueberry Cupcake plants in 19L pots filled with Plagron Light Mix, under the Mars Hydro FC4800 EVO 480W LED.⚡️☀️
The beginning was focused on root development and establishing a healthy foundation. Growth was initially slower than expected, but the plants gradually developed and became strong enough for training. Topping above the fifth node helped establish the foundation for a more structured canopy.
During the following weeks, LST, defoliation, and canopy management became an important part of the process. There were a few setbacks along the way, including overwatering and mild calcium deficiency symptoms. Later, cold root-zone conditions caused another setback, slowing the plants down temporarily.
With patience and adjustments, the plants recovered and continued developing. These early challenges were a reminder that healthy roots and a stable environment are just as important as lighting and nutrients.
The Transition into Flowering???
After an extended vegetative period, the plants were switched to a 12/12 light cycle following 24 hours of darkness.
The transition brought a strong stretch, with the plants growing approximately 20 cm per week at their peak. LST, selective defoliation, and lollipopping continued to help manage the canopy and support the developing flowers.
As flowering progressed, the plants developed increasingly impressive buds. Support became necessary as the flowers grew larger and heavier, while resin production became more and more noticeable.
One of the biggest lessons came from measuring the actual light intensity with a PAR meter. The readings were approximately 150–200 PPFD lower than expected, showing how important it is to measure conditions rather than rely solely on assumptions.
Late Flowering and Ripening🍁
During the final weeks, the flowers continued to mature, becoming increasingly resinous and aromatic.
The aroma profile evolved throughout ripening. The initial sweet blueberry and berry notes gradually developed more pronounced gassy undertones, creating a more complex combination of aromas.
Two of the plants also developed beautiful purple colouring, adding another visual highlight to the final stage of the grow.
By the end, the trichomes were predominantly milky, and the plants were approaching harvest maturity. Despite the setbacks earlier in the journey, reaching this stage with three well-developed plants was incredibly satisfying.
Harvest, Drying and Curing⚔️
The plants were harvested and hung whole for three days before wet trimming. They then continued drying for another eight days, after which the final manicure was completed.
Humidity during drying was on point, although maintaining a consistent temperature proved difficult. Despite this challenge, the aroma combination was already amazing and truly unique, building anticipation for the first proper taste.
After drying and trimming, the flowers were transferred into jars with 62% Boveda packs to support a controlled curing process.
The curing stage became the final step in bringing everything together, allowing the aroma and flavour profile to develop further.
Final Thoughts on the Journey
Looking back, this grow was about much more than the final result. It was a process of learning, troubleshooting, adapting, and understanding the plants better at every stage.
From the early root-development challenges to the strong flowering stretch, resin production, changing aromas, and purple colours, every stage brought something new.
There were mistakes and unexpected setbacks, but each one provided valuable experience for future grows.
The final result is something to be proud of, and the evolving aroma profile has made the wait for the first taste even more exciting.
A challenging journey, a lot of lessons learned, and three Blueberry Cupcake plants that made the entire experience worthwhile.
