Hey Growers! The girls have officially packed their bags and moved into a much fancier place. The new setup comes loaded with perks: an automated controller that keeps the environment dialed in 24/7, managing every device so the VPD stays exactly where it should be (because apparently plants are picky like that). Drainage? Automated. Irrigation? Also automated. Basically, the grow room is now smarter than most of us on a Monday morning. Thanks to multi-frequency fertirrigation, the girls are getting up to 6 daily watering cycles, keeping the substrate pH stable and nutrient-ready at all times. Less babysitting for me, more thriving for them: a deal I'm very happy to sign. Now, onto the Mental Rainbows, and things are finally looking up. After slightly bumping up the Calmag base to 0.6 EC and doubling the daily watering frequency, something seems to have clicked. The new growth is no longer twisted and curled, and honestly, that's enough to give me hope. Now that I'm pushing irrigation up to 6 times a day, I can only expect things to keep improving. A few of the smaller, slimmer plants don't seem to have developed a main cola: their internodes are all growing at roughly the same pace. So while I'll be topping the bigger, more advanced girls that do have a clear main shoot, I might skip the topping on the slimmer ones and let them take their time catching up in height instead. No point rushing what doesn't need rushing. That said, even though these plants had a bit of a rocky start (likely due to a slightly more delicate genetics), I'm still very confident in them. As proven in my last run, plants that struggled early on ended up delivering even better results than the ones that looked bulletproof from day one. So, as they say: never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, by its baby seedling! 🌱 Tips, tricks, and roasts are always welcome. Happy growing everyone!

So, start of week 7...... At the moment I can't give you exact feeding amount, because I have to adapt to every plant differently, due to the different deficiencies. Plants look good though, the cherry cola buds start smelling and it's awesome, can't wait to test. The bigbud will take longer if I see bud development. But holy, they seem to be good yielders. Just curious to see how fat they will become. Update day 46 After some days of individual feeding the problem seems to be more or less settled. Only the big bud get extra nitrogen, cause it looks like they inhale it like I will do to their buds later:) So here is the 2 feeding schemes I am using now......All calculated per litre......the now receive about 750ml-1l of nutrition, besides the normal watering Sorry, I tried editing the format so it is clear which ammount belongs to which nutrient, didnt really work out.......only biogrow has two different ammounts.... Biogrow 1.5ml / 5ml Algamic 2ml CalMag 0.5ml Biobloom 4ml Topmax 4ml Canna TraceAmix 1ml And now imagine, I had to give them even more for about 2 weeks, as they were showing increasing deficiencies. This is by far the hungriest bunch of Ladies that I have grown. As far as I can guess from today, I think I will have to harvest on 2 different dates unfortunately. This really wasnt the plan and needs extra investing in another filter/vent for drying. Well, so I am forced to use my second tent, really horrible,lol........I already see me vegging while blooming haha. 3 cherries will be finished at week 10, the other one (the cripple I mentioned during vegetation) will need about two weeks more. I gues she will finish together with the bigbud. Concerning the "cripple" I have to say, it is not due to bad genetic......This one was just very sensitive with the ammount of light she got the first 2 weeks and this made her very slow in her development. About the bigbud I also made a mistake which was pretty stupid I guess.........She showed gender and I switched nutrition, but with the same ammount as the cherry cola, not keeping in mind she will need a bit longer and therefor needs to be fed differently. I guess that caused the problem for her. Well, we never stop learning, as long as our Name is not Donald J Trump..... What else can I say...........in an hour and a half the light will turn on and this time wont pass by, as I am fucking curious....... update day 47 Well, it is freakin insane........I increased watering level to 2,5 l per plant........like 1l pure water and then 1,5 nutrition.........cant believe myself. Popped these seeds on Monday (30/03/20). Germination Method: Soaked seeds in Vitathrive overnight and transferred to Jiffy pellets. I used the excess water with Vitathrive to soak the pellets 👍. Two days later, what I’ll reference now as P1, popped out. P2 is two days behind. These seeds were sent from BF over a year ago. Day 5 - Placed both in 1 Gallon fabric pot with an amended Coco Coir mix. Grow medium (per 1 Gallon) in Vivosun 1 Gal Fabric pot. Coco Coir, 1.5 TBSP of Gaia Green 4-4-4, 2 TBSP Earthworm Casting. I debated doing a synthetic run again but love the simplicity of using Gaia Green. I will start early giving the plants some Organic Cal-Mag for General Organics. Outcome of mix TBD LoL... Lights: HLG 65W 4000k QB for the first 2-3 weeks depends on space. HLG 95W - Week 3 to 6 or until the 3x3’ tent is open for business. I plan (I change my mind on a daily so we’ll see) to do a two plant in a 3x3’ flowering tent under the HLG QB 288 (260W 3000k) Game Plan Last grows I had amended my mix with Feather Meal which caused Nitrogen Toxicity in both plants. For this run I plan to start extremely light and adjust accordingly, meaning I’ll top dress with FM as needed or maybe at week 2. Plants currently under humidity dome with vents open as I have the strawberry nuggets on the other side finishing up (need low humidity for the next two weeks). Veg time will be at most 6 weeks if I’m running both plants in my flowering tent. Recommend flowering time for this strain is 9-10 weeks therefore plenty of growth will occur once the switch is flipped to 12/12. Why Phantom OG? We’ll I’m a fan of Sativa Dominant Hybrids. Read great reviews on this strain and looks like a strain that will produce enormous buds, to be seen.

By the end of week 15 from seed, the plants are doing great. The 400W HPS lamp, paired with a ventilated reflector, keeps the grow box at a pleasant 23°C. Temperatures did hit 28–31°C for a couple of days, but the heat has since subsided, and the plants are very comfortable now. During the hot spell, the Hydro-Easy system was consuming 2–4 liters of nutrient solution per day. I’ve been using Snoop’s Bloom RO (parts A and B), Hesi PowerZyme, and PK 13/14. Since the second component of the Snoop’s line contains calcium, there’s no need to add extra CalMag. Eight excellent main colas have formed, and the central buds are also nearly fully mature. I’m waiting for the plant to finish ripening—once its water consumption drops, I’ll switch to plain water for the final flush before harvest. The aroma is strong, and the leaves are covered in trichomes ("sugar"). Earlier this week, I applied Simplex Power stimulator as a foliar spray to boost sugar production.

She's still beautiful. She's still developing. She's still showing us those lovely flowers. And she's getting closer to the end of her journey. But, of course… She wouldn't be Candy Rain if she didn't give us a little surprise along the way. 😂😂😂 Because just when you start thinking that a plant is approaching the finish line, she decides to throw fresh white hairs all over the place. Everywhere! 🌸?🌸?🌸 And naturally, the first thought is: "Girl… are you starting another round?" 😂😂😂 Not so fast! Because although those fresh white pistils might make her look like she's trying to start something new, the trichomes are telling a different story under the microscope. And that's precisely why we don't judge a plant's readiness by one visual clue alone. Candy Rain is getting close. Very close, I believe. My current feeling is that this could be her final week, but that's an expectation, not a promise. We'll keep looking, keep observing, and let the plant tell us when she's ready. No rushing. No guessing based on white hairs alone. Our solo survivor. Our beautiful green girl. Our plant that seems determined to fill herself with flowers. And now, here we are, approaching what may be the final chapter of her flowering journey. She's still beautiful. She's still carrying those developing flowers. And she's still giving us new details to observe. The most noticeable thing this week? Those fresh white pistils. ?🌸 They're appearing across the plant, and if we were judging solely by the pistils, we might be tempted to think she still has a long way to go. But that's exactly why I don't want to make that assumption. Different cultivars can behave differently as they approach maturity. Some continue producing fresh pistils late in flowering, and that alone doesn't necessarily mean the entire plant has restarted its flowering journey. We need to look at the whole picture. The flowers. The overall development. The trichomes. And how everything is progressing together. Candy Rain is getting closer, and the microscope is helping us understand where she actually stands. Some plants give you a fairly straightforward progression. Others keep surprising you. And Candy Rain? We're using that additional capability with controlled output rather than simply running everything at maximum. Our recent target has been around 1,500 PPFD across the upper canopy, with the actual intensity varying according to canopy height and position. Lumiflora also contributes additional light deeper in the canopy. And Candy Rain is receiving those same general lighting conditions as the rest of the room. But her response is her own. They're different parts of the light spectrum, and plants can respond to them differently. Red light is commonly associated with photosynthetic activity and plant light signalling. Far-red light is particularly relevant to phytochrome signalling, which helps plants interpret changes in light conditions and the transition between day and night. The response depends on the spectrum, intensity, duration, and the plant's wider environment. So when we talk about our 15-minute period, we're talking about a deliberate lighting routine we're testing and using in this room. We're not claiming that fifteen minutes is a universal magic number, or that every plant will respond in exactly the same way. As always, we observe the plants and consider the whole environment. 🌿🔴🌙 ──────────────────────── 🌙 HELPING THE PLANTS TRANSITION INTO NIGHT One of the reasons people experiment with end-of-day far-red is the way plants use light signals to interpret their surroundings. Plants don't simply know that it's nighttime because somebody switched off a lamp. They respond to changes in the spectrum and intensity of light, and those signals can influence different aspects of plant development. But I don't want to credit every little change to one specific light or one particular setting. The plant is responding to the whole environment. Genetics. Light. Nutrition. Temperature. Humidity. Water availability. And the way all those factors come together. Candy Rain's fresh pistils are interesting, but I wouldn't automatically attribute them to the red-light routine. And still finding ways to keep me guessing. 😂😂😂 Those fresh white pistils are appearing all over the place, but the microscope is giving us a different perspective. She's not ready just yet. And although I suspect this could be her final week, I'm not going to pretend that I know for certain. The plant gets the final say. That's the rule. We've also been continuing our lighting experiments, including the 15-minute red-light period after the main lights go off, with far-red and deep-red wavelengths forming part of our wider lighting approach. The science behind plant light responses is fascinating, especially when we look at phytochrome signalling and the Emerson effect. But we're keeping our observations separate from our assumptions. We're not claiming that the lighting routine caused her fresh pistils, nor that it guarantees a particular harvest outcome. We're simply documenting the environment, watching the plants, and learning as we go. And that's what the 8×8 Adventure is all about. Twelve plants. One shared room. Different genetics. Og kush is nearing it's final stages of flower. I did notice the top bud started developing bud rot but it was caught early enough that I am hoping it didnt spread any further. Mystery strain looks like it is finally in early flower stage. It has been raining almost daily so the plants have been living under a green house roof.
