🌱 8Ɨ8 Adventure – Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e (Plant A) | Week 4 Building Strength Before the Fireworks Begin Welcome back to another chapter of my 8Ɨ8 Adventure, a project where twelve unique cultivars are sharing the exact same environment while every phenotype is documented individually throughout its entire life cycle. Growing every plant under identical conditions allows each genetic to tell its own story, revealing the subtle differences in growth habits, structure, vigor, and personality that make phenotype hunting such an exciting experience. This week we’re shining the spotlight on Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e – Plant A, a lady that has quietly been building an impressive foundation while showing signs that she’s ready to become one of the standout plants in the room. Every update she becomes a little bigger, a little stronger… and a little more interesting. āø» 🌿 Life Inside the 8Ɨ8 Jungle The environment continues to provide ideal conditions for healthy development across the entire garden. This week the room has been running at approximately: • šŸŒ”ļø Temperature: 33.3°C • šŸ’§ Relative Humidity: 63% • ⚔ Nutrient Solution EC: 1.36 mS/cm • pH: 6.12 • šŸ’¦ Reservoir Temperature: 25.7°C Despite the warmer temperatures, vigorous airflow keeps fresh air moving throughout the canopy while maintaining healthy transpiration. Every cultivar continues receiving exactly the same care, making the differences between genetics even more fascinating to observe. āø» šŸ’§ Feeding Program Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e continues receiving the same balanced feeding schedule as the rest of the garden. Nutrition this week: • Plagron Terra Grow • Plagron Power Roots • Plagron Pure Zym • Plagron Vita Race (foliar application) The response has been excellent. Healthy color, sturdy stems, and vigorous new growth suggest she’s making great use of everything available to her. āø» 🌱 Growth & Development This lady has really started to find her rhythm. Over the past week she has put on noticeable vertical growth while maintaining a beautifully symmetrical structure. Every new node appears clean, evenly spaced, and packed with healthy growth. One characteristic immediately catches my attention… Those fan leaves. They’re becoming absolutely enormous. Each new set seems broader than the last, creating an impressive solar panel capable of capturing every bit of available light. The leaf color remains beautifully uniform, with rich green tones extending from the oldest foliage right into the newest growth. Structurally she’s also beginning to separate herself from some of the other cultivars in the room. Where others are stretching aggressively or branching heavily, Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e seems determined to build a thick, balanced framework first. She feels composed. Confident. Like she’s quietly preparing for something special later in flower. Although she’s beginning to show increasing activity around the upper nodes, I’m still considering her firmly in vegetative growth as she continues investing her energy into building size and strength. āø» āœ‚ļø Training & Canopy Management This week has been all about allowing the plant to develop naturally while making only small adjustments where necessary. A little leaf tucking has helped expose developing side branches, allowing more light to penetrate deeper into the canopy without removing valuable foliage. At this stage those massive fan leaves are working in her favor, fueling rapid growth while protecting the young shoots beneath. Sometimes the best training is simply knowing when to leave a healthy plant alone. Right now she’s rewarding that patience. āø» šŸš€ Looking Ahead I’m genuinely excited to see where this phenotype decides to go. Every week she’s revealing a little more character, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that she won’t simply blend into the rest of the room. With her broad leaves, strong central stem, and balanced branching, I wouldn’t be surprised if she develops into one of the dominant plants inside the tent once flowering is fully underway. For now, the plan remains simple: Continue providing a stable environment. Allow her natural vigor to lead the way. Keep encouraging healthy structure without rushing her development. Sometimes the strongest performers are the ones that spend a little more time building the foundation. āø» šŸ’š Final Thoughts One of the greatest joys of this project is watching every cultivar write its own story. Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e isn’t trying to imitate anyone else in the room. She’s growing at her own pace, building her own architecture, and showing characteristics that already make her stand apart from the crowd. Those beautiful oversized fan leaves… The vigorous vertical growth… The healthy, vibrant canopy… Everything points toward a plant with enormous potential. I’m incredibly curious to see how this unique phenotype expresses herself once flowering begins. The journey is only just getting started. āø» A huge thank you to Plagron for providing the outstanding nutrition that keeps this garden thriving, Zamnesia for the incredible genetics and equipment helping bring this project to life, and of course to the entire GrowDiaries community for all the support, encouragement, and inspiration throughout this adventure. Growers Love and thank you all for following along with my 8Ɨ8 Adventure. I’ll see you in the next update, where Chem BrĆ»lĆ©e will continue revealing exactly what she’s capable of. šŸŒ±šŸ”„

These girls are exploding like the bomb seeds they are! Always a treat to grow any Bomb seeds in my experiences. I have grown Both Atomic and Widow bomb before and great seeds/genetics and amazing top shelf buds on massive plants. They are really blowing up now there roots are in the water and all 4 have been topped in prep for LST and there screens. I also installed my DIY reservoir cooler and wrapped my buckets in reflective insulation stuff to keep heat out and keep water cool. Will post some results when I test it more...

Topped them after 2 weeks. We’ll see how they handle it. After week 4 i put them on 12/12. Im looking for a Midday Strain and this is one of them. Small plants creates strong buds. Im curious what the taste and effect really is.

The week starts Monday, Jan-13 in flowering stage. The plant is growing fast, stretching long and I'm constantly tying down branches to maintain an even canopy. There's also a stronger scent of lemon already in the tent. Carried out substantial defoliation of almost all the big fan leaves and a few little stems that were not likely to make it above the canopy. Avoided defoliating the major cola branches. This encourages the plant not to waste resources on a node which is only going to produce ā€œpopcornā€ buds. The plants reacted well to the defoliation and were looking good by the end of the light cycle for the day. The net is completely full and this will be the last week of applying any LST as part of the ScrOG setup. Light is maintained at 30cm distance from canopy, with daily fertigation at lights on - watering almost 3L per day. Lowered the average RH in the space to 50%. ----prior 4 weeks updates ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Jan-06 in flowering stage. The net is filling up nicely with the ScrOG process being enjoyable - just tucking branches nicely under squares once stretched enough. Lost a branch end with 3 nodes accidentally whilst tucking away so now I'm super careful. The Sativa dominant strain is stretching nicely and bends easily. Minor defoliation of lower branches and fan leaves continues daily. Light is maintained at 30cm distance from canopy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Dec-30 in vegetative stage - switching the light regime to flowering. Initiated flowering with an extended dark period prior to switching light regime - this practice is supposed to promote a faster initiation of flowering by the plant. Maintain lights off from Dec-31, 10:00 until Jan 1 - 18:45 allowing a 32hr darkness period prior to switching the light regime. Light regime is set for 12.5/11.5 on/off allowing me a better maintenance window for my living situation. Both plants are growing fast and strong, showing their genetic traits. Some shoots are going through the net already. Have started to tuck branches as they grow to fill up any gaps. Did minor defoliation on both plants near their stem base and centres. Some green algae on roots/coco medium on the surface of the pot. Have defoliated some more which hopefully helps with air circulation at the area. Will monitor over the week - may need to decrease watering frequency, although they seem to be keeping up drinking. Lowered the High Humidity setting of the extraction fan to 60% - which effectively keeps it running at least 75% of the time, and removed the humidifier. Will monitor and adjust as necessary lowering the setting to 50% in a few weeks whilst flowering. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week starts Monday, Dec-23 in vegetative stage. Installed the ScrOG net - Set at 20cm from the base of the plants, being 55cm from ground. The plant is showing great growth, lots of branching and new growth sprouts. A few branches are beginning to come through the net and almost all main branches are now tied down horizontally after the two recent toppings. Applied more LST and will wait for the branches to reach the net and start tucking. The AC Infinity fan is currently only running intermittently with its current settings. This seems to impact the utilisation and effectiveness of the carbon filter in use. The desired outcome is for the fan to be running for longer periods whilst in Auto config. Lowered the High Level Humidity from 70% to 60%, and more importantly, lowered the Max Speed from 4 to 2 with the intent that a lower fan speed will result in longer periods where the extraction fan is operated to remain below threshold targets for the grow space. Plant growth continues to be strong at the end of the week. Big fan leaves near the top are beginning to look a little serrated and dark, similar to the start of this grow. This may be due to the extra CalMag being added which was the issue at the start of the grow. Will keep monitoring and half the CalMag dosage on next feed. Importantly, I have learnt nutrient mixing of the CalMag should be done prior to the Canna Coco A & B. To date I have done the opposite which may explain my earlier issues. Fertigating daily at the start of the light cycle. One more week of vegetative growth before switching to flowering although I may need to switch earlier due to the vigorous growth and considering the stretch yet to come. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ................................. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My grow setup includes; - Secret Jardin DS120W tent (120cm x 60cm x 180cm) placed inside the bedroom. Passive intake of air is from a closed off section of the room where the central heating boiler sits - the intake is warm air (20 degC.) and fairly dry (40% RH) during the winter months. - Mars Hydro SP250 LED light - extraction fan - AC Infinity Cloudline T6 - ventilation fans - aquarium heater - small oil heater - small dehumidifier - 20L Airpots and 3.5L general pots for seedling stage - Canna Coco substrate and nutrients - pH and EC/TDS meters - Thermo/Hygro meter

So it's the end of week one after germination and we have a little mutation going on from the looks of it....I'm sure she's going to grow out of it but it looks like she doesn't have a main stem lol. I'm curious to see how this one grows in the next week or two. Very interesting šŸ¤”. Anyways we started the alfalfa Ferment from Growing Organic and they have BAS Craft already mixed into their soil. The autos we're running organic so I really don't see us adding anything until around late veg. Thanks for stopping by and we'll see ya next week.

🌱 Ghost Train Haze — Week 7 From Seed šŸ” Quick Recap — How We Got Here • 12/12 from seed • Mineral base in AutoPots (steady availability, no dry-back stress) • Occasional top-feed with organic inputs • Selective defoliation in the room — but these girls were left untouched • Multi-layer LED canopy + under-canopy lighting • Week 7 from seed → stretch phase still active And now? She’s around 70 cm, some phenos pushing 80 cm, praying nonstop, stretching like she has somewhere important to be. That’s Haze. āø» šŸŒ”ļø Environment Snapshot • Day temp: ~28 °C • RH: ~65% • EC: ~2.9 (higher than the rest — intentionally) • pH: ~6.5 • Height range: 40–80 cm • LED full-spectrum, layered canopy On paper? Some growers panic at 28 °C in flower. In practice? Understanding numbers. āø» šŸƒ LED Physics — Why 28 °C Is Not 28 °C Under LED: • No infrared dumping • Leaf surface runs 2–4 °C cooler than room • Lower radiant load • Different transpiration dynamics than HPS So if: • Ambient = 28 °C • Leaf temp ā‰ˆ 24–26 °C • RH = 65% šŸ‘‰ Leaf-level VPD lands beautifully in early–mid flower comfort zone. And the plants confirm it: • Deep healthy green • No tacoing • No clawing • No light bleaching • Strong internode spacing • Constant upward praying That praying? Not stress-praying. It’s metabolic confidence. āø» ⚔ Why EC Is Higher on These Girls (~2.9) This is important. Ghost Train Haze is: • Vigorous • Long-flowering • High metabolic rate • High transpiration under LED She’s drinking more. She’s moving nutrients faster. She’s building vertical structure aggressively. If we fed her like the others? She’d outpace availability. So EC is slightly higher here to match: • Growth speed • Stretch demand • Structural building phase We’re not pushing blindly. We’re matching consumption. And the uniform leaf color across the canopy confirms uptake is balanced. āø» Let’s Talk Genetics — Why She’s ā€œLateā€ Ghost Train Haze carries heavy Haze lineage. That means: • Longer stretch • Longer flowering time • Slower early flower stacking • Higher final terpene complexity • More cerebral profile Compared to hybrids or more indica-leaning cultivars, Haze types: • Take longer to show flower mass • Spend more time building structure • Finish later But what do they give back? • Airy-but-resinous spears • Intense terpene complexity • Electric, clear-headed medicine • Beautiful, elegant bud architecture They compensate. Always. āø» šŸ“ The Stretch Question — Will She Outgrow the LEDs? At 70 cm in Week 2 flower? Yes. She’s not done stretching. Haze typically stretches: • 2–3 weeks into flower • Sometimes up to Week 4 depending on phenotype Expect: • Another 10–25 cm possible • Internodes to slightly elongate • Apical dominance to stay strong Bringing LEDs up soon? Smart move. Better to anticipate than react. āø» šŸƒ Defoliation Choice — Why We Didn’t Touch Her We left her natural. Why? Because: • Haze structure is naturally airy • She manages light penetration well • Over-defoliation can slow stretch momentum • She’s showing perfect airflow already Sometimes restraint is the better technique. āø» šŸ”® What To Expect Next Week You will likely see: • Continued vertical stretch (but slowing by end of week) • First real bud site stacking • Slight shift from lime green to deeper flower tone • Increased thirst What you should NOT expect: • Massive bud density yet • Hard swelling • Early frost explosion It’s too early. Haze builds in stages. āø» Stability Over Reaction We are not chasing numbers. We are reading the plant. Temperature? Fine. Humidity? Fine. EC? Matching demand. Structure? Strong. Leaves? Praying but relaxed. This is controlled vigor. āø» Final Thoughts Week 7 from seed. Week 2 flower. ~70 cm. Still climbing. And honestly? This is exactly what you want from a Haze. Patience now equals magic later. āø» šŸ™ Gratitude To the OGs. To the new followers. To the lovers and even the skeptics. To the GrowDiaries platform. To the GD community. To the sponsors. Photography is part of the story — it’s how we share the fine textures, the glow, and the quiet details that words can’t always capture. I’ve also started experimenting with photo stacking — a technique where multiple images, each taken at a slightly different focus point, are layered together to create one perfectly sharp image from front to back. It’s not digital enhancement or AI; it’s pure photography — a way to reveal the plant’s beauty in microscopic depth, from trichome to petal. You’ll even see a few shots of "ghost me" capturing the shots — camera, lens, setup — because every grow deserves not just to be cultivated, but documented like art. Day 84. She’s huge and growing bulkier each day it seems. I try to rotate her because she has grown over the light. She’s a slow finisher. But I’m hopeful of what she will become and how she will smoke.
