Why we changed nothing (and why that’s not doing nothing) Your room conditions: • 🌡️ Day temp: ~28 °C • 💧 RH: ~65% • ⚡ EC: 2.4 • pH: 6.5 • 📏 Height: ~40–80 cm • 💡 LED lighting On paper, some growers would panic at 28 °C in flower. But here’s the key difference between growing by numbers and growing by understanding: Under LED, leaf temperature ≠ room temperature. LEDs don’t radiate infrared heat like HPS. So while the wall sensor says 28 °C, the leaf surface is usually 2–4 °C cooler. And the plant does not “feel” the room — it feels its own leaf temperature. That’s where leaf VPD comes in. ⸻ Leaf VPD — the part most people skip VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) is simply the difference between how much moisture the air can hold and how much it actually holds. But here’s the nuance most charts miss: • Room VPD is calculated with room temp • Leaf VPD is calculated with leaf temp So if: • Room = 28 °C • Leaf = ~24–26 °C • RH = 65% 👉 our leaf VPD lands right in the comfort zone for early–mid flower. And the plants are confirming that with their behavior: • Deep, relaxed green • No tacoing, no praying too hard • Internodes strong and structured • Uniform nutrient uptake across phenotypes That’s the real data. We’re not ignoring numbers We’re letting the plant be the final authority. Stability here beats “fixing” something that isn’t broken. ⸻ Defoliation — why this time was heavier Let’s be very clear: This was not aesthetic defoliation. This was functional defoliation. Context matters: • 🏠 8×8 room • 🌱 ~27 plants • 🌬️ Airflow, light penetration, humidity pockets all scale differently Sometimes a single plant wouldn’t “ask” for leaves to be removed — but the room does. Why you defoliated: • Improve airflow through a dense canopy • Reduce micro-humidity pockets • Allow photons to travel deeper, not just hit the roof • Reset apical dominance and refocus energy on flowering sites Yes — i went harder than originally planned. But: • Genetics are strong • Plants are healthy • Root zone is dialed • Feed is stable Healthy plants recover fast. Stressed plants don’t. These girls are the first category. And importantly: we didn’t stack stress. No feed change. No environment change. No light shock. That’s how we “go hard” safely. Week 6 flower, half way there! Buds are starting to fill in now and getting some decent frost. A couple of tops are getting more light than others, and fattening a bit more and looking real nice. It looks like there is some purple starting to come out at the tops. Also spotted some discolouration on a few leaves closest to the light, so I turned the one light down to 60-75%, no need to push it at this point and burn her up! She will go as fast as the soil and environmental conditions will allow her to. Hand watered in Gaia Green Soluble Seaweed Extract 0-0-17, otherwise water drip is running on same schedule. Just using straight tap water that sits in a 30 gallon reservoir with a submergible water pump running 24/7 breaking surface and aerating water. Water comes out the tap @ 7ph and less than 15ppm. This week went really well ! Today we are at day 79 from seed an looking beautiful! One Forbiddin Runtz got chopped an hung to dry out an the rest are still flushing out through the rest of this week! Very nice looking fades coming along on the fan leafs from purple to green , so beautiful ! So happy with these genetics from @fastbuds_genetics! Super sticky an smell is so amazing, room full of purple punch’s an Forbiddin Runtz the smell you can’t beat, so many berries!!! Well stay tuned for next week! Cheers y’all

El ph se controla en 6.5, la temperatura la tenemos entre 24/21 grados y la humedad ronda el 50%. El ciclo de crecimiento puse 12h de luz, el foco está al 50% de potencia. Starting to take off this week :) some odd leaves going on one of these ladies, but both look happy and healthy:) Will be starting very weak cal mag towards the end of this week as I have very soft water currently.

My oh my, what a difference a week and a dimmed down light can make! I expected to have to have it covered for longer period than I actually did as well. I don’t know what there is to say really, you can see I have repotted into the Autopot XL so it is probably the smallest Autopot XL grow there is! I was super careful to actually cut the paper pot it was in away as I didn’t want the auto to think that was the bottom of the pot and start flowering. I simply prepped what it was going into and wetted it and ripped it off then buried it - it was a little leggy from the windowsill action so I sorted that. Somehow the dimmer that was broken is no longer broken so that’s cool - its on about a third of the total of what’s it can put out atm. Honestly, I thought this plant was going to die before! It still might but it looks a fuck load better now than it did! I am going to have to start mixing up some hydrocrop notes as it’s what I have on hand. I’ve always had great results with it before so why not. I am back in touch with FastBuds and they have sent me some more seeds so hopefully next run I’ll be doing something a bit newer as they seem to always be pushing that THC value! So far, so good - now to have a look at other smoothie auto diaries too see what stresses she can handle in terms of training. Edit: it’s been a couple of days since my last update but I needed to add a small reservoir for the Autopot XL to run from so I nominated a 5l plastic jug. Only after drilling the hole for the Autopot filter and plug I realised I needed to get to the inside of it so I cut away the section that was the lid so I can still use the handle and it has structural integrity. Everything seems to have gone swimmingly but the jury is still out on whether a 5l bottle will be enough for 1 plant - I can’t remember how thirsty the smoothie one was from before. It’s a resilient plant though - it recovered so quickly from germing on the windowsill. The tent is pretty sketchy because i had to cut down the poles to make it fit the space and so the skin is a bit saggy. Still, she seems to be thriving - the light is on about 50% (75w) and before I connected up the ‘res’ today I was just spraying a very small amount of water that had mammoth p added to it after it had been PH’d to 5.5 ish. I did intend to go with grow dots but unfortunately they have taken too long to come now - its in its final pot and im not messing around with slow release now we are coming into veg, they would surely be behind schedule. I have been using the trusty Hydrosol by Hydrocrop - its cheap as chips and has a cannabis specific feed chart that has never let me down. I was using GHE before and this is like 10x cheaper and i get the same results. Once you have worked out your concentration and diluted the powder into bottles it is very similar to any other rip off, cannabis specific bottle feeds, only you get enough powder to make 5 bottles worth of each so it works out super cheap, you dont need to mess around with silica, it literally has everything the plant needs so no PK boost either, you simply adjust the ratio of bottle A to bottle B and it boosts the PK and lowers the N. It also has enough calcium and magnesium - although they do sell a cal mag but they specify it is specifically for buffering coco - fair enough. I’ve never had any luck doing that and my plants always die using that bricked coco that I have buffered myself but that’s just me - my mushrooms love it though and I dont have to do shit to it either!

absolute beast and definitely my favorite strain of this run so far. i love the internodal spacing on this one, its a very sturdy plant with strong branching.

I realized the height was getting out of control for the greenhouse. Tied everything down and now it's starting to hook. Lots of lst and supercropping. The Coco Bruce back left too some bad damage today lost 2 big stocks, we'll see how she recovers. Happy growing everyone!

2/12: I moved the Platonium, both Sucrose Overdose, and the last Muscadine Wine into the dark. The Velvet Sugah Bref, GG4, and Berry Bomb are the last plants from this diary, and they are just getting water and Liquidsoil. They are all in the closet now and getting blasted with extremely cold winter air and intense UVB for their last week. 2/13: I harvested the Platonium, both Sucrose Overdose, and the last Muscadine Wine tonight. Sexy sexy bitches...ooh la la! Not embarrassed to say that I got major wood while giving them a bath...😜

Week started how I hoped. Rain stops and the sun is shining several hours per day. But it is still cloudy often.

Week 11 Cherry Cola. Watering 0.6 L morning and night. Buds are thickening up nicely. Looking forward to harvest!

Went home for Mardi Gras for 3 and a half days and came back to ladies loving life. I kinda over watered these ladies because I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to water them while gone and it worked out perfect I guess clan ask for anything more. The Black Cream auto shod be on the path to just focusing on bud development. She grew a half an inch this week so hopefully that the most she gonna stretch. Buds smell sweet somewhat strong. The Green Poison is on her way to be a monster jus now entering her flower phase. She may be going for 12 weeks at this rate none the less I jus going with the flow making sure I’m paying attention to plant and how she reacting each day. I don’t really see anyone using the dry amendments ,let alone the medium I’m using, so I I’m jus doing what’s recommended on the bag and letting the plant tell me so far can’t complain

Fixed ec now fattening time

Day 43 since seed touched soil. Hard week past. Those long not drinking days when cycle was taking 8 days to dry out made damage, i still see magnesium, but now added some rusty spots and i cant understand is it calcium or my spraying of Leaf Coat and burn. No spray this week, will check if new will appear. Because of troubles i postponed flip and top up till next watering. It should be in 4-5 days. Done huge clearing, a lot new ties added. 3.5 liters of 6.3 phed dechlorinated water went in after training. Twins grow okeish, but i see some damage on them too, canopy forms very nicely tho, thin, but very well spaced. Planning to create scrog this week too. Mars Hydro TSL2000 is on 70% output, thinking to increase it with flip to 75. Light is working fine , really covers all space , great affordable light for colder climate. Day 45. Girls recovered from training very nice ! In few days flip . Day 47. Girls got top up. Put first level of scrog. Flipped to 12/12, tent is rammed ;) light output on 75%, 4 liters of 6.3 phed water went in. Top up was dosed, mixed well and laid on top, then i rough and mix top lair of soil with top up and only then i water. All pots are 30 litres ( grams and ml , have in mind ) : Ecothrive - Biosys - 5 ml / pot Ecotrive - Charge - 120 ml / pot Ecothrive - Life Cycle - 60 g. / pot Ecothrive - Bio Blend - 200 ml / pot. Think this will be my standart top up, i run out of Great White, have for one top up, will do it in 2-3 waterings seperately from all. Planning to repeat same top up at begining of week 4 of flower. Girls look better without spraying, most prob burn from too intense light, despite me giving 30-60 min of reduced to minimum after spraying. From now on - only when lights off. It was time to open the pot again and have look at what's going on. Did the Living consume all the leaves yet or is there a nice mold coming through? Are the Living even still living after last week's weather conditions? ---------------------------------------- June 21 The medium was in for a watering again. My youngest didn't like the taste of that particular banana so we tossed it in the pot as well. 3L of dechlorinated tapwater, with no feed and no microbes. PH Min to 6.3 ---------------------------------------- June 29 The medium was so dry, I had to water the pot first before any digging could take place. I was seriously concerned for the Army, having to withstand these temperatures. To my surprise, I actually found a couple still! Unfortunately the banana was all but untouched. That wasn't cool, digging it up and it not being infested with Worms. I'm holding my breath for next week. Day 22: Well we made it to the beginning of week 4! Who would of thunk! So we are starting week 4 on a good foot. No issues at this time and growing really well. Still such a squat plant. The nodes spacing is only like a half inch apart. WTH 🤷‍♂️🏻 Other than that the PH in my reservoir is dropping, usually it rises a bit everyday. I will have to remedy that before my midday feeding. I mean it was at 5.85-5.9PH so not out of whack but I was hoping for a drift of 5.9-61ish before I had to do a top off or change of the solution. Did some more light LST and leaf tucking last night before bed and will probably have to do more this afternoon. Day 23: River and Clara are growing really fast now. However I did notice the darkening of some of the new growth tips and a potential N burn. I believe this to be from a faulty PH tester I bought from nutetools dot com. Junk! So back to my old cheap meter. I will have to empty and clean out my reservoir today and make some more sauce for my plants so that I know it is PH’d correctly. What a pain in the ass. I am going to have a chat with them this afternoon for perhaps a replacement. Other than that onward and upward. Day 24: Not a whole lot to say today. Filled the reservoir yesterday. Sat and tried to figure out how to LST these super squat plants. I am thinking a couple haircuts are in order today. I think this will be beneficial to the little bud site that are partiallly blocked, but also for me to see what the structure looks like to get a better idea what I am working with 🤪 I am also thinking of upping my watering schedule to 4 times a day during lights on. I feel they are starting to drink a lot more and are probably just about to go into flowering mode. Day 24 Update: So I took the plunge and did some major defoliation and retied up all the LST work I did previously. They look so pissed off at me now… lmao. 🤬 You can see the before pics in my previous post from this morning. Also posting pics of how tiny my node spacing is.. Day 25 06/25/2021 - Today should be pretty hands off. Just letting them do their thing after the harsh treatment they got from me yesterday. (Defoliation and LST). I’m assuming they will need a couple days to recover, but, I will say they do look a bit less pissed off today than yesterday. Still no signs of sex. the tops are a nice bright green and the leaves are starting to deform like it really wants to flower. Hopefully, I didn’t screw it up by defoliating. The wait for flower continues. Day 26: These plants have bounced back awesomely after my heavy handed defoliation and LST. Putting on an inch a day and growing faster by the minute. They must have loved my nutrient ratio last feeding. I am going to do the same mix again today to refill the reservoir. Speaking of reservoir and watering… I think I am watering a bit munch per feeding as I am going through 5-6 gallons every 2-3 days for two plants. So I think today I am going to finally go to a 4 feed per day schedule and drop the time from 1min 10secs to 50secs or so. They should realistically only be getting a gallon a day a piece and still get good runoff to avoid any salt buildup. Have a 4inch and 6inch stretch a scrog nets ordered as well. Other than all that I think this first grow is going great so far! Day 27: Another day of mostly hands off and just watching the stretch. If my scrog nets come today I will hang the first one and that is about it today. Last night however, I did find a few pistils on Clara the smaller of the two and the no longer late bloomer. I also got my new Milwaukee MW804 4in1 ph/ec/tds/temp pen. Excited to have a reliable testing tool. One more grow day in the books! Cheers! Day 28: Well last day of week four. I was really hoping it would have started flowering by now, but we will hope for week 5. I got my scrog nets late yesterday afternoon and I put the first 4” net up. As you can probably see by the pics I really have no clue what I am doing. Also these plants are so so squat and compact I almost wish I had a 2” net. But, I think they are in stretch mode so we will see how that might effect my ability to a rig these a bit better. My plans for today are to do a quick clean and rinse of the reservoir and refill with a new batch of mutes I mixed up in the middle of the night last night. Then just let them grow I suppose. Not much else for me to do. 🤷‍♂️🏻Now on to week 5 tomorrow and continue to have a good grow. Cheers! 🥃
