some little struggles this week

I am living in South Africa, Cape Town, we are heading into summer now so it is the right time to plant.... I potted this lady today so when the sun is out she'll be going outside.

The plants had been a little root-bound before transplanting them into the bigger pots, this showed in a yellowing of the leaves and a slowed growth. During week 5, now in the bigger pots, the plants are recovering quickly. The start to grow in a nice healthy green color and quickly get bigger in size. Since the light-mix has nutrients in it for appr. 2 weeks, I only add a little BIO NOVA Roots and BN-Zym to my 'FLEXITANK' reservoir. After adding the nutrients I measure the ph-value and see its 6,6. That is too high for cannabis-plant on soil, they cannot take up all nutrients at that ph-level. Therefore I use ph-min from BIO NOVA to decrease the value of the 100 liter nutrient solution in my reservoir to ph=6,0. At this ph-level the plants can take up all nutrients they need for a healthy growth. My two SANlight EVO4-120 LED-fixtures are hanging 75 cm above the plants and are tilted inwards by 11 degrees, following the recommendations of the lights manufacturer. The fixtures are dimmed to 60% of power (=1 green light ON on the dimmer) at this stage, so they plants get a nice stretch and grow into bigger plants fast.

15/01/22: Everything is looking good and as it should - the plants are really showing their sativa genes super tall for the 10liter pots. the largest is 43 inches high with the rest of them an average of 36 inches high. Defoliated a few days ago with the lower fan leaves to promote concentration on the buds. the sites are very bright green and showing good signs of pistils developing.

Really fun plant to grow out I got just over a quarter pound dry, I really dig the taste of this lady like a pastry of some kind with a cherry finish. Over all excellent finished product very pleased about it.

Ladies still drink a lot of water, 3,4 L every 48 hours. Main cola flowers are getting big, side colas less but still 2 weeks to go so hopefully they will continue. The lady in the front, plant and buds have another aspect then the other 2. All of them are cherry cola. Also had some issues with her during veg phase and she began flowering earlier.

Day 33: What an amazing height and bud gain in just 3 days! Lady #1 is 67 cm tall now, her sister a tad smaller. Both still have a great color, and I dared to cur away just the lowest branches and leaves that do not look like they could gain height in time. Really enjoying this strain so far! At the end of their day, they are a bit dropping leaves, so clearly no hunger for more light. The impressive growth speed continued on their buds: Tallest lady at 70 cm now. Their next morning shows growth is still at an impressive 5 cm/day as lady #1 with her leaves erected again stretches now 72, the maximum of my previous growth. Pulled the lights as close as possible to the ceiling and hope they won’t make it much more than 1 m. I activated the Sansi 30 W folded wings LED to give them somewhat of a morning and evening light and to add some more light to their overlapping center branches in the middle of "their" day. Sadly that’s causing some interference to the timelapse videos, but I can’t say they’re perfect if it wouldn’t. Watching the timelapse video of day 34, I have the feeling the additional light rather irritates them. Maybe the interference is not only visible for electronic eyes. I’ll keep it off next day for comparisons. Day 35 shows stretch speed has reduced indeed and they seem to be concentrating on leaf and bud growth instead. 75 cm, so we are currently at "only" 3 cm/day. Watered them with a HPE/Bud growth mix again last night, about 1 l each. Well, forget my words about reduced growth. After they recovered during the night, we are at 77 cm for lady #1. Which measured at 78 with hanging leaves in their day’s evening. I must have missed a day number – day 36 concludes their 5th week. I gave them another 2 l of fertilised water each and will lave them for the weekend again. Video shows that growth concentrates now more on leaf and bud development than on gaining height. So I guess my 160 cm tent will be sufficient. For a moment I was worried, but it looks like stretch is over. Anyway, time to rearrange the camera next week. Leaves are running out of focus.

Alright, guys, another week and this girl is stacking!! Day 33 of flower and I have a feeling this girl's gonna be a good yielder of some frosty nugs, and hopefully this plant produces some baseball bats.. the inner noodle spacing is perfect for this 👌... Que pasa familia, vamos con la cosecha de estas Tropicanna Poison F1 de Sweetseeds. Esta variedad me resultó bastante sencilla de cultivar, y si no la maltratas crece sana a mi parecer, la flor se ve increíble, tiene una cantidad de resina considerable y unos tonos rojos muy peculiares, se ven muy apetecibles. El olor que desprende es muy peculiar es muy dulce con toques terrosos, a mi parecer, no pinta nada mal, las flores están prietas. También os comento que la variedad es muy fácil de cultivar y no da mayores problemas, el ciclo no es largo, cuiden con la altura ya que se desmadran un poco. IMPORTANTE destacar: En las fotos comprobaréis que ya no hay botes de cristal con sobres de bóveda, ahora hay Grovebags. Que son una especie de sobres o bolsas que retienen el peso, previene la aparición de moho y mantiene intacto el terpeno, para que el curado sea más óptimo. Hasta aquí todo, Buenos humos 💨💨💨

She continues to develop nicely. Unfortunately I managed to break two more branches, from both she recovered instantly and the branches started to heal already. (Need to be a bit more careful going forwards). The quick healing I would either account to the genetics, but would also contribute it to the rizothonic from canna, as her root system is also a lot further than the plants I grew before. She already smells super strong, can bare keep the tent open for long.

Suivre les conseils semaine 1. Une fois que les plantes ont colonisées le pot de 1L, les rempoter dans des pots de 3L (qu'on va arroser avec 3L). Cela doit prendre 4 à 7 jours en moyenne. Surveiller l'aspect des plantes, les pointes des feuilles. Observer le haut et le bas. La couleur de la plante doit être uniforme entre chaque partie sinon c'est qu'elle a un manque ou un excès. Le plus souvent étant donné les engrais complet que nous utilisons il s'agit d'un excès. Dans ce cas il suffira simplement de faire un arrosage à l'eau au lieu de l'engrais et de reprendre les engrais à plus faible dose. Les tiges sont un bonne indicateur de la santé des plantes, hors génétique spécifique, elles doivent être verte et tendre, pas dur. On continue la FIM et la taille de certaines feuilles qui peuvent être gênante.

July 31: Another week of warm sunny weather coupled with thunderstorms bringing a decent amount of rain. Flowers are stacking and resin coming on thick developing complex odor. Harvest coming in a couple of weeks.

I wanted to use the flowering nutrients (I think it's the bloom nutrients) but it's been raining a lot lately. The soil is still quite saturated so I'll wait and see if it'll dry out a bit in a few days before I give it some food. So far the trichomes are more visible on both beauties. I've started to trim more of the lower and fan leaves. I would say about 1/4 of the bottom is pretty airy. Working my way up every day. It has been cold the last 2 days dipping anywhere between 10C to 15C in the evening and day time high of 15C to 18C. It's supposed to heat up (25C-28C) in the next few days but then back with some cold days again. That's the problem with Canadian Mother Nature; can't make up her mind. This will test my plants and see how they do with the ups and downs. Hopefully it won't affect them that much. I've also started rotating them in case the sun isn't getting certain parts of the plant. I'm not sure if it matters but it isn't cumbersome to do so why not. So far I've been lucky to not worry about any infestation nor abnormal leaf coloring. I usually do a deep watering only once a week if it's a normal week with no scorching hot days. There was a period of 3 scorching hot days and they definitely were droopy and thirsty. So I must have watered them 3x over a span of 7 days. Very excited to continue to see them grow into beasts!

I also gave her pot a 1/4 turn. 9/29- Yesterday I didn't water her, only turned her pot and checked her over... Wow! She's really ramping up the trichomes making her flowers look like their sugar coated! 🤩 I watered her today with 1.5g of de-chlorinated water with 1 tsp/g of unsulfured molasses added which was then ph'd to 6.4 @ 72℉. The molasses will give the microbial colony some additional food as well as supplying micro-nutrients to the plant. I finished out the daily maintenance giving her a check over and turning her pot 1/4 turn to ensure she gets light to every inch of her. 10/1- Yesterday was a 'no water' day as her pot was still fairly heavy to lift. Today she was watered with her usual of 1.5g of de-chlorinated water which was ph'd to 6.2 @ 72℉. Her flowering continues to impress me with her trichome production covering her flowers with 'frost' she's a sight for sore eye's! 😍 The end of next week we'll be getting close to her wrapping up with the 'Finish Line' approaching by Week 10, but it will all depend on when she tells me that she's ready to go! 10/3- With Week Seven coming to a close we're going into that last 3 +/- weeks for this 'Frost Queen' and she's looking like a Rock Star covered in bling! 🤩 I watered heavy yesterday and added 1 tsp/g of Unsulfured Molasses to the 1.5g of de-chlorinated water which was then ph'd to 6.6 @ 72℉. Her pot had some weight to it when I checked today so I'll skip watering her until tomorrow. I finished up today by checking her over and giving her pot a turn. ~Thanks for stopping in!
