🌸 Lava Cake – Week 7 Flower (Harvest Special) 🌸 This week marks a major milestone in the Lava Cake journey: we harvested phenotype two, who had been affected by bud rot. Bud rot may have tried to take the best from us, but we didn’t allow it. Every infected part was carefully removed, and the remaining healthy plant was harvested and is now drying as a whole plant under controlled conditions. ⸻ 🙏 Apologies & Context We know this is technically a flower week update, but due to the new updates on Grow Diaries and the desire to share photos, videos, and the story of this harvest so we’re combining the harvest with the flower week report. The next report will be the official “Harvest Report”, covering: • Drying & trimming process • Curing updates • Smoke review ⸻ 🌿 Quick Recap – From Seed to Here • Germination: Smooth in the Cannakan with Aptus Regulator & Start Booster, 3 seeds, 2 kept. • Vegetative Stage: Robust growth under Black Series 600 LED and later ThinkGrow & Lumatek LEDs. Root development and early structure supported with Aptus super soil and micro/macro mixes. • Transplant: Into 11L fabric pots, carefully monitored environment, roots thriving. • Early Flower: Weeks 1–4 brought thick white hairs, dense colas, and heavy branching. Nutrient support included Aptus Regulator, CalMag Boost, Plagron boosters, and All-in-One Liquid. • Mid Flower & Challenges: Week 5–6 showed signs of bud rot. Lava Cake #2 needed early harvest; Lava Cake #1 continues to swell and thrive. Through all of this, the Lava Cakes proved their resilience and quality, showing that even under stress, their genetics shine beautifully. ⸻ 🌱 Week 7 – Harvest Details • Bud Rot Management: All infected material removed and disposed of immediately. • Harvest Technique: Whole plant harvested, inspected, and prepared for controlled drying. • Drying: Slow, careful drying in a separate, stable environment to preserve aroma, terpenes, and cannabinoids while minimizing risk. Even though bud rot forced an early cut, the flowers are still dense, fragrant, and high quality. The flowers were so dense and weighty that some branches were starting to bend, snap, and strain under the load. While this is a testament to the plant’s vigor and genetics, it also increased the risk of further bud rot and damage, making an early, careful harvest the safest and most sensible choice. Even under pressure, these girls delivered impressive structure, weight, and resin coverage, proving their strength and quality until the very last moment. Gave just some water, no nutrients. Dimmed the light down to 65%, I think the green gelato got some light stress.

Last week went well. She has grown tremendously in the last two weeks. Most growth has taken place in the last week. Over a foot of stretch. Because she was growing so much faster than the other autos, I put her in her own spot with her own Mars Hydro ts600 so I can adjust the light height just for her. I'm hoping she starts stacking on some bud. It seems like she isn't going to be a purple pheno, but oh well. As long as she turns out decent. She responded well to topping, lst and supercropping. She also seems to like the organic diet. I will update as she progresses. Until next time happy growing to everyone! 4/30- She is still stretching some but not as much. Starting to add bud mass. The bud is starting to get a purple coloration to it like I had hoped. Next time she will be grown with a soil mix that has 35% coco coir in no less than a 5 gallon aerated fabric pot to maximize the potential. I am also going to make sure she has the best lighting from the start. Because she wasn't as close as she should have been at first, that is why I think she is as lengthy. Just going to get a feel for her and improve for the next grow of this strain. Will update as she progresses.

She's staying shorter, that's her genetics -good old NL. Very excited for the strain, the flower that I currently have is my favorite smelling strain ever. I hope this phenotype smells like that. It's one of those strains that you keep smelling over and over again, it just keeps luring me back with that beautiful smell.

Mimosa is putting on some serious weight, extremely vigorous. so far i’m feeding it twice a week with a teaspoon of Biocity bloom and nova bloom and a half teaspoon of biocity silica

24/03 watered AGAIN after 2 days with 1.5L 5.9 PH 1.5 EC, 5ml/L of Terra Bloom. So far im really happy with plagron. Just one bottle for grow and one for bloom and the plants look healthy and show no signs of deficencies. really happy with the product. Moreso than biobizz, where i used Grow, bloom, calmag, activera and topmax and still fought deficencies here and there. I also am conflicted about the trellis net. I like what it does but i think my tent is too full with plants or too small to really enjoy it growing-wise. I cant move the plants and its hard to reach them during watering. So i removed it again. its an on/off relationship with us :D I also did some more defoliation, PROMISE ITS THE LAST TIME. i took out the plants of the tent for it to better reach the insides of them and made some nice videos of their progress so far. ALSO: Tent smells really good and overwhelming when i open it! sadly, it escapes pretty fast so ill put "normal" smell on here. but its decent! Every day she seems to reinforce her structure before adding more height, creating the impression of a little powerhouse preparing for something much bigger. Rather than racing upward, she has concentrated on building a compact, incredibly symmetrical framework. The internodal spacing is noticeably tighter than her sister’s, giving the plant a dense appearance with very little wasted space. Every new node emerges neatly stacked above the last, while the stem continues to gain thickness and strength. Her fan leaves are broad, beautifully coloured and remain perfectly turgid, indicating that both the roots and overall plant health are progressing exceptionally well. Despite her more compact stature, growth has been anything but slow. Each day reveals another layer of healthy new growth hidden beneath the canopy, quietly preparing for the weeks ahead. She may be smaller today, but she certainly doesn’t feel behind. She simply has her own strategy. ⸻ 🌿 Training Progress This week focused on gentle canopy management while allowing the plant to maintain its naturally compact structure. Leaf tucking became increasingly important as the dense foliage began shading the developing secondary branches beneath the canopy. Small adjustments throughout the week allowed light to penetrate deeper into the plant without causing unnecessary stress. One particularly encouraging observation has been her response to training. Although naturally tighter than her sister, every adjustment quickly resulted in fresh vertical growth from the lower branches. Rather than resisting the training, she appears to be steadily building a beautifully balanced canopy that should become increasingly productive as flowering progresses. Patience with this phenotype feels like it’s going to pay off. ⸻ 📸 Behind This Week’s Photos The photographs tell the story of a phenotype that prefers quality over speed. Early overhead shots reveal a compact young plant with outstanding symmetry and broad, healthy fan leaves radiating evenly around the stem. As the week progresses, the canopy fills in noticeably while maintaining its tight structure. The close-up images beautifully showcase vigorous new growth emerging from every node, with fresh shoots pushing confidently toward the light despite the naturally dense foliage. The side profile highlights a thickening main stem supporting an increasingly complex canopy, while the final macro photographs capture the first signs of a plant preparing to transition into its next stage of development. Every image reinforces the same impression. Compact. Healthy. Confident. ⸻ 🌸 Looking Ahead The next week should be particularly interesting. As the lower branches continue catching up beneath the canopy, I expect this compact structure to gradually transform into a dense, evenly distributed crown of flowering sites. Her naturally tight internodes may ultimately become one of her greatest strengths, potentially allowing her to produce an incredibly uniform canopy filled with closely stacked buds. Easy as from day one , the seed was up in 2 days and never looked back . She loved the heat mat for the first few weeks and then responded so well to being tied down . Less than 90 days from seed to smoke and plenty of it .

The plants are now growing slower in height and start to develop real flower clusters at all tops. Both Barbarian (=AK-47 x Barbara Bud) plants are bushy with lots of budding sites, but plant#2 is now 15 cm taller than plant #1, which is a little more bushy than #2. Both plants are healthy and still enjoy the normal recommended feeding schedule from Advanced Nutrients.

I put it in a glass of water , later I will transfer it to paper towels . as practice shows , the method is working . It's not the first time I've used it. the main thing is to squeeze a towel well, so that the seeds do not rot. temperature 24-26 humidity around 60%

Bumped up the nutrients this week. not by much, though. Just enough to top off. I prefer to make gradual increases and underfeed rather than overfeeding. To me it's easier to correct problems of underfeeding than to correct the problems from overfeeding.
