Often, marijuana growers who have their plants in indoor grow tents or rooms with artificial lighting, take into account parameters such as temperature and relative humidity to maximize plants growth and bloom, thus obtaining abundant harvest with top quality flowers. As we will see later, these factors affect different processes of the plant, such as transpiration or nutrient uptake. However, we usually forget about another important factor that is related to the aforementioned ones: vapor pressure deficit or VPD. Broadly speaking, VPD is the difference between the amount of water vapor that the atmosphere is able to retain (which depends on temperature) and the amount of water vapor contained in it (relative humidity). It is usually measured in kilopascals (kPa). Providing our plants with a correct relationship between temperature and relative moisture will keep us on the right VPD parameters, increasing the plant’s activity and thus improving its growth and showing its full potential during the flowering phase. The ideal would be to adjust both parameters (temperature and humidity) to get the best possible VPD value, so that the development of plants will be amazing.In the chart above you can see the right temperature and moisture values to maximize the development of cannabis plants. The green zone shows you optimal values of VPD, in which it would be ideal to maintain the environment. The orange zone shows correct values, in which plants should not have problems to develop normally. However, red areas show values in which your plants will be very far from hit their full potential, since the relation between temperature and moisture is not optimal. With relatively high values of VPD (between 5 and 12) plants tend to open their stomata and release a considerable amount of water vapor into the environment (increasing their transpiration). This increase in transpiration results in an increase in the plant’s photosynthetic activity, which will need more nutrients and will improve its overall growth, both during growth and bloom. The best range is between 7.5 and 10.5, which we have marked in green. However, we must be careful that VPD is not too high (dark red zone) since the plant would close its stomata to avoid releasing too much water vapor to the environment, which would result in fast dehydration due to excessive transpiration. On the other hand, if VPD is too low (light red zone), the plant will also close its stomata for not releasing more water into the atmosphere, which in this case would be already saturated (it would have reached the maximum water retention capacity in a specific temperature). In this way, reducing transpiration will also reduce photosynthesis, which has a direct impact on the plant’s development and yield. That way, VPD is essential when it comes to offer the best conditions for the development of plants, also to understand its water requirements according to the nutrients used and thus adjust them correctly to meet the grower’s expectations. 02/23 - Week 3 Veg - Did some light defoliation on her inverted leaves mainly in the middle of the plant - She has definitely blown out some, will have to apply some LST on upper canopy sometime this week - Nute/Clean water feeds have become more frequent alternating once every 2 days. 02/27 - She blew out nicely - defolded the bottom portion of the plant to remove dead/decaying leaves and tied down her main tops (LST) to increase canopy coverage.

Trichomes are developing well, still mostly clear at the moment. The plant has finished stretching and is now focusing on bulking. I slightly increased her feed and hope she’ll put on more weight soon.

I fed her some warm tea with a little bit of molasses bat Guano and fish fertilizer (N) The buds are still green, so it’s safe to say she is healthy. My last mistake was eliminating nitrogen for the first two weeks of Flowering… her smell is still amazing.

* ***************** Week 2 of Growth From Seed, April 18 to 25, 2020 - Days 8 to 14 from germination ********************** * Getting rolling on week 2. She is not growing super fast. Suspect I have gotten a little heavy handed with the nutes again a little early on. Keeping an eye though and haven’t been too far off. Switch CalMag this week and going with GH as it has a 1% value for Nitrogen. Will be increasing the CalMag now as well. Will be getting ppm in the 500 range more this week. May start to introduce Sensyzime at the end of the week. Keep moving the lights up and down trying to dial in between 18” and 30” and see how they react. Seems to be about 28” right now they are happy. Playing with the VPD and finding that they are not as happy with the VPD up around 1.0 and rather happier around 1.4??? Happier meaning tips and looking like she is getting bigger. Played with humidity this weekend as well between 52% and 75%. Again, they seem happiest around 58%..........going to try that for a couple of days and see how they grow for the next few days. I feel they are alrighty slower at the high humidity. Apr 19, Day 9 - VPD - 1.3 - 2L watering today with CaMg and Sensyzime @ 1ml/L each. 240ppm with 5.9pH. - Had more runoff, that was the goal. Didn't bother to measure this though. - Just trying to bring the medium pH in line and reduce some of the ppm. - Things just aren't progressing as I think they should. Apr 20, Day 10 - VPD 1.5 - dry out day - lower humidity in tent to 55% Apr 21, Day 11 - VPD 1.5 - dry out day, again. Humidity kept low. - Added home made CO2 to the tent today. - 2.5" tall only. - wavy leaves so think she has battles some pH issues.......some sensitive than the other strains currently?? Apr 22, Day 12 - VPD 1.4 - Dry out day yet again but now raising the humidity back to 65%. - tips back up today. Apr 23, Day 13 - VPD 1.4 - 0.5L - P & V & Vitathrive @ 1ml/L, DF & CalMag@ 0.5ml/L = 410ppm and 5.9pH - primarily calmag and something for roots. - She has straightened out more today. Apr 24, Day 14 - VPD 1.4 - 0.5L - Voodoo and Piranha and VeloKelp @ 2ml/L = 180ppm pH'd to 5.6 - tough week.......she battled over watering as a result of some over feeding last week.

Plant growing phenomenally really filled out the entire net and ready to let her grow up for the next week or two. Making tea as of today May 31st. Tea is made of worm castings, a little craft blend, a little big 6, and some blackstrap molasses. I plan on watering her with this tea starting June 1st. I added some European night crawlers today. They looked dead when I got them but I added them to the pot and everyone disappeared so evidentially they are still kicking. Pot already has red wigglers for topsoil aeration these guys will help aerate deeper in the root zone It’s been 7 days since flip. It needs a defoliation but I always wait at least 14 days especially in living soil. I’ll do a heavy defoliation at day 14 and likely another smaller one on day 42. Really looking forward to see how this thing flowers. Really interesting strain. Picked it up from a really legit lab in Michigan. They have tissue cultures for most cannabis cup winners; this strain is a bit of a no namer though. Seems like it was bred by a gentlemen known as kick flip genetics, looking at his cuts he clearly has access to high quality genomes, must be a reason this lab decided this was worth producing. I’ll find out God bless Edit June 1st: Noticed what could be some PM on a singular lower leaf likely due to humidity in the 70s so decided to do a pretty heavy defoliation. Did a lollipop for the first time ever. With lower leaf mass being removed the humidity is sitting around 55 now. Interested to see if the lollipop actually pushes energy to those top buds. I hate to do a defoliation at this point in flower(7 days into stretch) but she’s got plenty of leaves left and should recover quick God bless

She was always thirsty! She drank almost as much as my 10ft tall plant & she was under 2ft tall?! Handled LST very well. She had an abundance of leaves which looked like a beautiful canna-bush growing but come trim time ugh not so much. Her leaves started turning darker purple the last two weeks, making her even prettier! She was only 14 inches tall (LST) & wound up having 65 bud sites.

This week I transferred into 5 gallon pots & started to shape the canopy with daily low stress training and defoliating. Life's been hectic, as you can see my tents a mess.. keep the pimp hand strong growmies

Hi everybody!! Time is passing out and we ended also 6th week. I have still troubles with minators and while with other plants neem’s oil work great, for this lady it didn’t do his job. However she is super healthy and has a super sweet smell which is increasing day by day (Could this be why parasites find it so appetizing?). During last week we have had several storms and I have not been able to move it, however it has resisted very well to the rain and wind. The size of this bubblegum is still small, but her look is delicious. I hope she will meet my expectations regarding the quality of the smoke!

------GENERAL COMMENT------ Flush time, within the end of this week is now flush time. To summary this week i just kept on my feeding habits, Water with base > Water with boosters, alternating Recharge. My led seams to be crashing a bit, the colors are not stable as is possible to see in the timelapse. Trichomes are mostly cloudy, with a slight amber. 9 weeks flowering time will be exact, just need time to flush, they are maturing fast fast, hairs are getting orange in a blink. ------GG.AK47 COMMENT------ Compared to the Blueberry the nugs are thinner, still nice size, a bit less dense, thru the stems there are many popcorn buds, that is also due to the less removal on this girl to test. Loaded with colas and the scent is very sugary too, a bit stronger than the BB, and the hairs are turning orange faster, starting to look very mature. Defoliated a bit to avoid rot, will defoliate more for this reason.
