Poor Skunk Apple really is the runt of the litter. I think we can blame my rookie mistake of giving it a gallon of water that was way too strong. It's been struggling to recover ever since. Hopefully this little guy will catch up eventually, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Well, another year has come and gone. Yesterday was New Year's Eve, and I want to wish all of you a happy and healthy 2025. May this year bring you all the things you've been wishing for. Let's make this the best year yet! I can't believe how much my plants have grown during this stretch! It's like they've been on some serious plant steroids. They've all at least doubled in size, some of them even more. I have a hard time with overwatering, especially now that it's harder to let them dry out. I just don't know if I'm damaging the roots with all this growth.

9/28 Day 24. Raised air pumps above the water line using two 5 gal buckets. Removed the inline air backflow valve and this increased aeration greatly! - Feeding day. Red TDS 850. EC 1.8 / Blue TDS 800. EC 1.7 / Yellow TDS 785. EC 1.6 / 10ml CalMag, 10ml Micro, 5ml Grow, 5ml Bloom, 2ml UC Roots. Will check TDS & EC through the week as they are starting to drink up the water. - LST started today. I will be adjusting them daily to pull off shoot branches in different directions. 9/30 Day 26. Added water for the first time. Used purified drinking water from the grocery store (Ph 7.45 TDS 95 EC .2) and PH'd it down to 5.9 10/1 Day 27. Readjusted the LST wires and added some new ones on the stems that can now be pulled in different directions. Red suffered a break on the main stem that went 1/2 through the stalk. I decided to use the LST wire to push it back together so that it can heal. I will still train the other shoots in different directions and let the main stem just do it's thing. Blue and Yellow pulled in new directions to open up the middle and spread out the stems. - I defoliated (light amount) some of the 3 leaf blades that were touching the container lids, and any larger 5 leaf blades that were blocking light to any new shoots with new stem growth and potential bud sites. I wanted to allow the air flow at the lower section of the plant. 10/2 Day 28. Everyone is bouncing back from the LST. Keeping a close eye on Red and the injury healing. I've decided to do a 1/2 of a weekly feed every 4 days instead of a mass feeding once a week. I will test the TDS and EC, see what the plants are telling me before I feed of course. The seeds germinated after 1-3 days, 1x runtz unfortunately did not germinate. 3 Days after the germination the plants were growing too quickly so I repot them them in deeper and increased the light intensity to 50% = 100 watts. When repotting in biobizz light mix, the plants were also given a load of Mykorrizah from Great white premium.

Hey now, so I got the final toppings completed about 5 days ago, I started LST the day after topping and will continue for another week or two and then switch them to 12/12 on LED's and let them do their thing. She is still growing slow but sturdy, with extremely tight inter-nodal spacing and very thick and sturdy stems/structures. I am thinking about staying with the MH bulb for a couple more weeks and then making the transition either when she outgrows the footprint of the bulb, or when it's time to flip to flower. Try and fill this side a little. She is quite big already, just needs to find her stride again after the undue torture. 5 apex stems with 20-30 mini cola, let them develop a little, with the apical dominance shattered, all those 20-30 will all compete with each other as soon as that stretch is initiated. Key to a good stretch is making sure the plant is cycling efficiently, with large ATP conversions occurring lights out. For now, I'm keeping light intensity high. A plant will slow its vertical growth in very high light intensities, leading to a more compact form with thicker stems and leaves. This response is a protective mechanism against light stress, which can damage the photosynthetic apparatus and lead to symptoms like leaf scorching, yellowing, and brittleness. Instead of growing taller, the plant invests its energy into creating a more robust, stress-tolerant structure. Providing plants with necessary antioxidants helps protect the photosynthetic apparatus by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) that cause damage from excess light. UV light exposure can impact the xanthophyll cycle by either enhancing its photoprotective role or causing damage, depending on the intensity and type of UV radiation. UV exposure can trigger the synthesis of more xanthophyll cycle pigments to increase the plant's capacity to dissipate excess energy, but it can also cause direct damage, particularly to Photosystem II, and may lead to a decrease in the de-epoxidation state (DEPS ratio) which indicates a reduced capacity to dissipate excess energy. Plants can respond to UV stress by increasing the synthesis of xanthophyll cycle pigments, such as violaxanthin and zeaxanthin, to improve their photoprotective capacity. UV-induced changes in xanthophyll cycle pigments can be linked to a plant's overall tolerance to high radiation stress. The xanthophyll cycle helps protect against photoinhibition, which is especially important when the plant is exposed to high levels of both UV and visible light. High doses of UV radiation can directly damage photosynthetic components, including the proteins, lipids, and pigments in the thylakoid membranes. Exposure to UV radiation can have a mixed effect on the de-epoxidation state (DEPS ratio) of the xanthophyll cycle pigments. While protective measures are activated, a high dose delivered over a short period can cause stress that overwhelms the plant's defenses. Photosynthesis is highly sensitive to UV-B. While we’re a week or so away from harvest, the plants are responding beautifully, showcasing stunning fades that highlight their unique genetics. This fading process is a critical part of the journey, helping the plants naturally finish their cycle while preserving those complex terpene profiles we all love. The Mold Incident: A Teachable Moment This week brought a challenge—a few buds succumbed to bud rot (Botrytis), particularly on the Papaya Zoap and a single bud from the Gorilla Melon. While disheartening, it’s a reminder that mold can occur even in the most well-maintained gardens, especially with dense colas and a full canopy. After a thorough inspection, all affected buds were removed and discarded to prevent the spread. A quick note to all growers: defoliation plays a massive role in airflow and prevention of such issues. This is why mid-flower defoliation is a game-changer, and I’m grateful it kept the rest of the garden healthy! Papaya Zoap’s Unique Quirks The Papaya Zoap continues to be a star of the show with its frosty buds and… albino tips! These tiny white tips are likely from being too close to the lights. 420FASTBUDS ORT2108 WEEK 7 The two of these little ladies have transitioned in bloom very nice. I did a light defoliation to the lower nodes to allow the plant to focus its energy on the upper flower sites. They where starting to have some nute burn so I backed off the nutes when feeding for a water or two. Over all growing has been good. Happy Growing

It was sunny and comfortable in the 70-80s with 50% humidity. This means that whatever the temperature is, the air feels like it, not 10-15 degrees hotter. Nothing to report.
