DLI = the total amount of photosynthetic light (photons) a plant receives over one day. It’s expressed in moles of photons per square metre per day (mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹). While PPFD (μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹) tells you instantaneous light intensity, DLI tells you how much light the plant actually used that day. ⸻ 2) The formula (how to calculate it) Use this exact formula: text{DLI (mol·m}^{-2}text{·day}^{-1}) = frac{text{PPFD (μmol·m}^{-2}text{·s}^{-1}) times text{seconds of light per day}}{1{,}000{,}000} Where seconds of light per day = hours of light × 3600. I’ll show worked examples so it’s easy to follow. ⸻ 3) Worked examples (digit-by-digit so it’s crystal clear) Example A — your reported PPFD ≈ 766 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹ and 11 hours light • seconds of light = 11 × 3600 = 39,600 s • photons per day = 766 × 39,600 = 30,333,600 μmol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ • convert to moles: 30,333,600 ÷ 1,000,000 = 30.3336 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ So: 766 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹ × 11 h → DLI ≈ 30.3 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ Example B — same PPFD but 12 hours • seconds = 12 × 3600 = 43,200 • photons = 766 × 43,200 = 33,091,200 • DLI = 33,091,200 ÷ 1,000,000 = 33.0912 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ Example C — other quick refs • 700 μmol × 11 h → DLI ≈ 27.72 • 800 μmol × 11 h → DLI ≈ 31.68 • 400 μmol × 11 h → DLI ≈ 15.84 • 1000 μmol × 12 h → DLI ≈ 43.2 (You can plug any PPFD and hours into the formula — those are ready-made reference points.) ⸻ 4) What DLI targets are useful for cannabis? • Vegetative (gentle): ~12–25 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ • Flower (typical good range): ~25–40 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ — most home/pro growers aim here • High-intensity/CO₂-enriched commercial: 40–60+ mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ (needs CO₂, stronger conditioning) So your example (≈30 mol·m⁻²·day⁻¹ at ~766 PPFD × 11h) sits very nicely in the flower range. That explains the dense bulking + heavy resin you’re seeing — our DLI is right where White Widow loves to convert energy into flowers. ⸻ 5) Practical implications — what DLI affects and what to watch • Higher DLI → higher photosynthesis → more carbohydrate to drive bud bulking and terpene/trichome production. • Higher DLI requires more water and nutrients. Plants transpire more and pull more minerals; be ready to feed and irrigate appropriately. • Leaf temperature / heat stress: pushing PPFD up increases canopy energy/heat — keep airflow, VPD, and room temps under control. • CO₂ matters: if aiming beyond ~40 mol/day, elevated CO₂ (e.g., 800–1200 ppm) becomes productive; otherwise additional light won’t be used efficiently. • Distribution matters: DLI is an average over the canopy. Hotspots or shaded pockets mean some flowers get too much or too little — even light spread (and PAR mapping) matters. ⸻ 6) Actionable tips for your run (based on your 11/13 / 12/12 experiment) • We’re hitting excellent flower DLI (≈30 mol/day at 766 μmol × 11 h). That’s why buds are dense/frosty — keep the rhythm. • If you shorten hours (e.g., 11 h) keep PPFD high to maintain target DLI. If you lengthen hours (12 h) you can reduce peak PPFD slightly and still hit the same DLI. • If you raise PPFD to chase more DLI, ramp slowly (a few μmol/sec per day) to let stomata and roots acclimate — avoid sudden bleaching. • Watch watering & EC — higher DLI → faster uptake → more frequent but measured feeding. • If you ever push DLI 40 mol/day consider CO₂ enrichment and perfect VPD control to have that extra light used efficiently. ⸻ 7) Quick rules of thumb • Want to hit ~30 mol/day with 11 hours on the clock → aim for roughly 700–800 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹. • Want ~33 mol/day at 12 hours → ~766 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹ matches that nicely. • If you see leaf cupping/bleaching, you’ve likely exceeded safe PPFD for that canopy or temps are too high — back off, check VPD.

Decided that this week ive probably went a bit big on the 3 gal pots after reviewing other grows (Whoops, not the worst problem to have) so I invested in another tent to split the girls up. Im hoping this will improve the air flow later in the grow, well until I decided that it looked a bit sparse and started some 1 gal ladies away. Anyway im a massive idiot and burned the GG4, ive learnt the lesson of monkey see doesnt mean monkey should do. Anyway we'll get into that. Sun 5/6 Got myself drip trays for all the pots, which will be help keep the tents a bit tidier when the watering intensifies. Also picked up a soil moisture/pH meter, from further reading soil pH is going to be important (Foreshadowing here.....) Both GG4/Explorer watered today (Not measured, stupid) as meter suggested soil moisture was low. Fed around where I suspect root mass will be and moistened edges of pots. Ariel/Cindy not fed today as both soil surfaces were moist. Im concerened about little Ariel, but im holding out for here. GG4 = 6CM // Explorer = 3.75CM // Ariel = 1CM // Cindy = 1.5CM Mon 6/6 AM Cindy/Ariel surface sprayed as was dry. GG4/Explorer left untouched as they're moist. PM All plants sprayed until surface moist, warm day today and I struggle keeping the humidity high within the tents so the surface seems to dry rapidly on the seedlings. New tent should arrive tomorrow! Tues 7/6 AM Tent arrived and set up with GG4/Explorer Transfered. This tent has a MarsHydro 100W in. GG4/Explorer fed with 400ML water + 0.15ML Bio-Grow, having reviewed many other auto grows it seems that they're giving growth nutes early doors. I must be doing something wrong here so planning to slowly introduce Bio-Grow. Ariel/Cindy left alone as theyre looking ok. Well as ok as Ariel can look :S PM GG4 leaves are showing slight yellowing (That foreshadowing we we're on about), shit. Wonder if it could be light burn from the new light? Ive upped the light distance and will monitor. Wed 8/6 GG4 further development of yellowing with some browning now showing. Surely if it was light stress I would have seen a small improvement, but perhaps im being too hasty. Planning on waiting another day and seeing where we see any improvement. No feed for GG4/Explorer Spray feed for Cindy/Ariel Thurs 9/6 GG4/Explorer fed 150ML of just water as both are looking dry and feeling light to lift. Still no improvement on yellowing/browning of leaves however new growth is progressing so im not too concerned? Will need to ask wiser heads for advice relating to this. Further research is leading me to think ive nute burned it. MY water pH is coming out around 7.1 as well which wont be helping. pH down ordered as im sure ill need it anyway. Ariel seems to be recovering slightly now all be it pale on new growth, will monitor this little one further and see what happens. More seeds ordered so if shes not going to grow big I might slot her in a 1 gal and stick something different in the 3 gal. Thoughts? Fri 10/6 GG4 well and truely upset with me however only 2 leaves showing significant issues, however this is starting to spread. Posted a question and answers are reflecting that I have A) Too high pH water B) Have fed nutes far too early. Live and learn. Advice seems to show that around 6.2 will be a good range to shoot for. pH down didnt arrive today so will hold fire on any further feedings which works nice as all are moist enough. Have LST'd the GG4. Sat 11/6 Officially 2 weeks today. Whilst im disappointed in myself with the GG4 I suppose its normal to make mistake in something new so trying to not be too hard on myself. Ive got pH down and have fed both GG4(350ml)/Explorer(150) respectively with 6.2pH water. Hopefully this will be the start of the turn around a learning moment within a new hobby. I really appreciate the kind words from those that have already posted and of course any further advice would be massively appreciated. Frosty meu objetivo era coher elas a partir do dia 25 de abril mas elas vai ficar pronta antes, já tem bastantes tricomas brancos e alguns âmbar mas esses estão nas sugar leaves e não nos buds. Tive que amarrar uma delas pq os galhos estavam dobrando muito para os lados, é a que tá mais gordinha, tem uma com buds mais alongados e a outra com buds mais consistentes e bonitos só que menores. Diminui a quantidade de ferts e planejo fertilizar até o último momento já que algumas folhas indicam que elas tá consumindo o N que restou nelas. A temperatura deu uma diminuída e isso tá ajudando a produção de tricomas mas acho que a humildade tá alta para a floração, fica entre 60% 70%. Gostei dos ferts da Remo mas não consegui o mesmo resultado que tive com advanced nutrients e olha que eu nunca usei a linha completa e com Remo tô usando a linha completa, enfim, vale a pena investir na advanced mesmo com a diferença absurda de preço. Ansioso pela colheita 🌱💚

Popped 20 seeds and all seemed to be fine. I encountered a problem with one of the pink kush seeds. It seems to be sprouting with a very small root and it released itself from its seed shell in the paper towel. It died I have tasted all the strains except the G 13 Haze. So i hope to get 1 or 2 good plants. Especially from the Pink kush and orange sherbert. 10x Pink Kush, 5x Orange Sherbert, 2x Cookies Kush, 2x G13 Haze and 1x Utopia Haze. Growing in biobizz Coco mix. Using a soil nutrient for the first week or two

Week 11 — Creamy Beast Turbo Feminized by Seeds Mafia Our beauty has entered week 10 and is confidently approaching the finish line. The buds are swelling with resin, covered in a thick layer of trichomes, and the aroma is simply magical — fruity, sweet, rich, and warm. The plant keeps impressing with its structure and lushness. The SCRoG net is doing a great job distributing light evenly and supporting those heavy colas. Daytime temperatures stay around 25–26°C, dropping to 20–21°C at night, with stable humidity at around 45% and good airflow. As always, we're feeding her only the best — Xpert Nutrients, which have kept the plant healthy and vigorous throughout the cycle. Huge thanks to Seeds Mafia for this incredible genetics — this Creamy Beast Turbo is truly a monster in its class. And yes... we couldn’t resist and already tested the first buds! We quick-dried them in the microwave and lit up — and let me tell you: the effect is incredibly strong! Considering it was just a quick-dried sample, it's honestly one of the most powerful strains I've ever grown. We’re even more excited now for the main harvest!

Thinking about pull out a good amount of clones soon. From seed is a nightmare. My personal Ethos germination rate is not good. Amazing plant by the way. Once they pop they look good, strong, easy to train. Some are under the italian method. Dancing the tarantella. Super happy now!🦄

17/07 Die Buds werden größer und so langsam kommt Farbe ins spiel. Die Trichome sind noch nicht so weit und die Blüten bilden sich weiter aus. Gegossen wird weiterhin mit Wasser. Dünger hat sie bisher einmal am Anfang in der Blüte bekommen.

She is a monster measuring 1.94 cm 6'4 ft the same as me. She grew slow due to cloudy days. she is 2 different processes the bottom is the list and with big buds ready to be cut. The upper part has just begun flowering. her buds were cut at the bottom with 5% 15% amber in different buds. There are some big buds. I hope almost all ready as soon as possible this spring

Looks absolutely awesome. This is my first photoperiod and you can really tell the difference in density and overall quality. I wet trimmed her and froze the sugar leaves to try to make my first hash. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Set up cost (fixed costs) -Lamp: 40€ -Timer: 3,5€ -Pot: 4€ -Total fixed costs: 47,5€ Given 5 years (or 15 grows) usage time translates to around 3,17€ per grow in materials. Variable costs: -Seed: free (gift) -Soil: 6€ -Fertilizer: 3,50€ -Power: 15,21€ -Total variable costs: 24,71€ -Total costs per grow: 27,88€

As expected the signs of deficiency started to dissappear once the roots were formed D19: topped #1 D21: did some cleaning of the roots of #1 D22: topped #2 and switched the light to 20/4

Some budrot showed up last week when I got back from a week away. Cut off the 2 Cola's 2 inch under the spots. Doesn't seem to have affected the rest of the plant thank goodness. Must have caught it while it was setting up. Would like to harvest her next week and flush her for a week from now on. Will seek advice in questions.

Pretty simple first week! Seed took 3 nights for the taproot to pop and it was planted in its final pot on day 4. On day 6, it finally popped through the soil and on day 7 the little sprout is starting to grow up. There is a small piece of seed casing left attached. Going to leave it for a day or two. If it doesn't fall off, I'll do it myself. Thanks for stopping by! 🥦

04/19 - They are recovering accordingly after flush - Still has some yellowing but most of their green has returned - transplanting into 5 gallon pots by the end of the week - these will be a short run - No cloning - running as mothers through out the entire grow. 04/26 - Unfortunately these have locked out and are no longer vegging, I will keep the dairy up for research purposes but I will donate these to the fellow grower that runs outdoors.
