Plants that are too far from an adequate light source will respond by accelerating stem growth in order to get closer to the lamp themselves. Especially when there are many other plants. A lack of lighting can easily cause overcrowding in a growing chamber, reducing the steady progression of your crop and the distance ratio between your bulbs and your plants. To address this problem, be sure to provide enough light to your plants to prevent stem growth. At the same time, you should not position your lights too close to your plants either since this would also result in an over-stretching of the stems and in some cases, the loss of your crop. In addition to the distance between the light source and the plant, the type of light you will use also affects the size of the stretching of your crop. The orange and red lights encourage stretching and result in thinner, larger stems. And conversely, blue light stimulates a growth of thicker stems and a smaller size. When a species is ready to enter the vegetative phase and undergo its most drastic stretching period, metal halide lamps can be used to deter far too long stems. THE HEAT Heat is another essential element that can determine the stretch size of your plants during vegetation. Temperatures above 27 degrees push the stems to lengthen more and more and will propel the potential of sativas to push as high as possible. Heat lamps that are positioned too close to plants create an intolerable environment that will grow large, soft plants that will potentially wobble until they fall and lose flowers in its fall. OTHER CAUSES OF STRETCHING There are multiple variables that can lead to the stretching of plants beyond what could normally be expected of the plant. Environmental stressors resulting from transplantation (when a plant passes from one pot to another) can cause the plant to return to shock. This will eventually trigger a reaction causing a stretch. Cannabis plants that are not grown in decent conditions or do not receive enough nutrients will respond in a variety of ways and this includes stretching. Crops that are not spaced far enough apart are likely to stretch to sting the light to other plants. Due to extreme proximity, the plants will fight among themselves to reach the light, forcing them to expand as much as possible throughout the crop. HOW TO CONTROL STRETCHING DURING FLOWERING Stretching during flowering, you guessed it, takes place when you move your plants from the vegetation stage to the flowering stage. This is a completely normal reaction, as your plants are preparing to bear the weight of their heads. Stretching of a plant at the beginning of flowering varies widely; some plants can double in height while others grow only a few centimetres. There are, however, two main variables that can give you at least an idea of how your plants are stretching during flowering, and how much. Here are these two variables: Variety: Genetics has the greatest impact on the size of your plant. In general, sativa varieties stretch more than indicas and tend to develop long, slender stems. Light: Some lights, such as HPS, are more likely to encourage stretching. In addition, great distances between your canopy and your lights will cause the plants to stretch as they try to get closer to the light source. Stretching during flowering usually lasts the first two weeks of the phase. To minimize stretching, keep your lights between 10 (for CFL) and 30 centimetres (for HID) of your canopy. Finally, choose indica varieties if you have a smaller growing space. HOW TO AVOID STRETCHING In many cases, you can expect your cannabis plants to stretch during the flowering phase. Keeping that in mind helps to make a plan in case your species ends up growing much more than you could have imagined. If the information is available, get information on the standard size of your species and compare it to the size of your growing space taking into account the necessary distances between the bulbs and the plants. TRAFFIC While outdoor crop operations benefit from natural air to naturally limit stretching, indoor crops must assume the maintenance of air circulation within a confined space. Basic ventilation is enough to help the cannabis stems strengthen and become thicker rather than too high. In this way, the plants continue to grow vigorously without reaching heights and at the same time, your tolerance ceiling. MANUAL INTERVENTION For growers who want to get their hands dirty, there are physical procedures that can be done to reduce stretching. Similar to the natural effect that the wind has on cannabis plants, manually bending the leaves and stems will cause tiny cracks in the plant's tissues that will cause the plant to focus on regenerating its wounds instead of its vertical growth. THE TOPPING Topping is a form of manual intervention on cannabis to influence its performance, shape or size. In essence, topping is a process in which a new node is cut, growing from the plant to reduce its size and create a "v"-shaped notch that will eventually form two heads. Topping may be an effective measure to combat stretching, but it is important not to do so when the flowering phase begins. In most cases, an abnormal stretch of cannabis plants will not completely destroy your crop. In fact, stretching can indeed help increase your performance. For growers with a growing operation large enough to contain tall plants, stretching can increase the total yield of a species with more vertical space for head formation. In both cases, stretching can easily be planned in advance and there are multiple solutions to help you with this problem which is all too common. May the force be with you 💪

These ladies had to restart and be replanted 3/20 she is on day 26 looking fine and swell. I’m happy with her so far she will be my last batch before summer is done for. Getting warm over in these parts.

Zkittlez - Growers Choice Day 88 - watered with 2L of RO tap water with defined above nutrients, mixed in order and pH'd to 6.3. Week 7 of flower and she's looking absolutely fantastic! She looks to have reached maturity, with about 50% of her trichomes turning milky and pistils turning amber! She smells just like Skittles, that fruity candy smell and her colours look just like the rainbow too, with shades of lime green, red ambers and yellowing in places! Another couple of weeks and she'll be ready for harvest 🙏🏻

Good week my diesel glue is really starting to branch up after topping at the end of last week I have continued 4days ago and today moderate defoliation I need the Poppin Cherrys pheno to get growing lol, I had a cultivator mystery stain, not last grow the one before that had a decidely slow start but bloomed into an exceptional phenotype, hopefully more similarities than Early leaf structure

The Blue Dream has been defoliated to expose more flower sights. She is suffering from a slight nutrient deficiency with the leaves turning yellow. The Blue Dream has received a dash of chicken poo and a swig of compost tea. The lady receives her feedings as required as usual. The plant has grown a steady 5cm this week. She is emitting some kind of floral aroma and her stigmas are filling most of the internodes plus calyxes beginning to swell. Caution must be taken through the next three weeks. Deficiency must be fixed. She stands at 85cm tall!

I was happy when i've seen the weight, i expected 70 or 80 grams and it's the double. I'm not sure if i will grow this strain again soon, there is plenty of strain waiting to grow.

Day 64 - The start of week 10 and not much longer before chop. Looking like 2 weeks tops but I’m gonna keep an eye on the trichs and pistils and when they say she’s ready, she will get the chop. Day 65 - Nothing much new today, she’s doing her thing and fattening up. Still thinking about 7-10 days till harvest so will run foxfarm sledgehammer through her next watering and nothing but water till the end. Day 66 - Gave the girl a gallon of water and some sledgehammer today to try and push the nutes out. I’m thinking she’ll probably be getting chopped next weekend or a few days after that. Just want her to fatten up a bit more and get more amber in the trichs. Day 67 - Nothing new today, just letting her suck all the nutes left in the soil and then suck her leaves dry. Hopefully it’s this weekend sometime but I’ll let her go until she’s ready. Day 68 - Checking trichs daily and she’s not require ready yet. A couple amber in there with a few still clear and the rest milky. Once she dries, I will give her another gallon of water and sledgehammer and let her go until she’s done. Day 69 - Coming to the end of week 10 and going to give her one more flush with the sledgehammer tomorrow and will just let her dry up until I decide to harvest. Really can be any day but will probably wait until the end of the weekend. Day 70 - The end of week 10 and gave her a final flush with the sledgehammer tonight. Will let her ride it out without anymore water until it’s time to harvest. Trichs are all milky with a few amber so she’s getting close.

Through out the week she received a foliar spray of Epsom Salt to prevent any Mg issues the others had in the tent. She is the shortest and smallest of the bunch but her foliage is the most vibrant. Very healthy and strong stems forming.

Week 2: The adjustment Hello dear growers and groweresses, it’s time for an update on my grow. My plants have completed the second week and have continued to grow. But they also faced some challenges that I will tell you about. The adjustment My plants have adapted to the new conditions in my room this week. I realized that I had my lamps too close to the plants and that they got too much light and heat. This resulted in them not developing as well as I had hoped. I therefore hung my lamps higher and reduced the intensity of the light. I lowered the PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) from 400 to 280, to give the plants a more comfortable environment. The PPFD is a measure of the amount of light that the plants receive per square meter and second. The higher the PPFD, the more light the plants get, but also the more nutrients and water they need. The plants accepted the change very well and recovered quickly. They started to grow stronger again and formed more leaves. They also got a nicer color and look healthier. One plant that suffered a lot was the Frosty Nightmare. She was overwatered and had trouble developing. She was smaller and weaker than the others and had yellow tips on the leaves. I therefore gave her less water and moved her away from the other plants, to give her more space and air. She recovered and grew again. She is still the smallest of all, but she has potential. I also increased the temperature in my room by 1 degree, to give the plants more heat. I set the temperature from 22 to 23 degrees Celsius, which is still in the optimal range for the plants. The plants liked that and showed me that by their growth. I let them vote democratically, by observing the plants and interpreting their reactions. :D The water filter I also want to introduce you to my water filter from Watertrim, which I use for my grow. It is a great product that saves me a lot of time and money and is also better for the environment. The water filter has only two connections: an inlet and an outlet. So it has no waste water, which would otherwise go into the drain. It has different options of the filter, depending on how much water you want to filter and how high the EC value of the tap water is. The EC value is a measure of the electrical conductivity of the water, which depends on the dissolved minerals. The higher the EC value, the more minerals are in the water, which are not always good for the plants. My filter filters at an inlet EC of 1.0 1000 liters, before it needs to be renewed. Since my tap water has an EC of 0.5, I can filter 2000 liters with it, until I have to renew it. That costs about 100 euros and works easily and quickly via the post. The flow is almost 1 to 1 in speed, so no more waiting. I can tap the water directly from the filter and use it for my grow. I use the filter as follows: I tap water at the filter. I pour normal tap water on it, until I have an EC of 0.3. I add fertilizers etc., depending on what the plants need. I check the EC again and adjust it if necessary. I also adjust the pH value, which should be between 6.2 and 6.5, to ensure optimal nutrient uptake. I give the water to my plants. The water filter is really a great product, even if it is not very cheap in the purchase with once of 240 - 390 euros. But it pays off in the long run, as it saves me a lot of work and costs and also improves the quality of my water. u can find it here : https://watertrim.de The outlook I am very satisfied with the result of the second week. My plants have adapted well and recovered from the problems. They have grown further and formed more leaves. They have recovered well and showed a great growth. I am very excited about the next week, where it goes to the repotting and the ladies can try fertilizer for the first time. I will fertilize this run only a little late, even if I use osmosis water this time. The soil from BioBizz is really great and can carry the first weeks well alone. Week 1 of flower is finally here. Tons of growth! One more foliar application of Chitosal this Saturday. These plants need a thorough cleaning underneath at the two week point to allow flower initiation without stress. I will be watching closely for deficiencies in laughing Buddha and blueberry. With the size of the plants a heavy feed schedule might not satisfy requirements. I see a noticeable increase in the quality of plant growing directly under the Hortilux in comparison to the mars hydro supplemental lighting. I am debating adding flora nectar to my nutrient regiment to help in the flavour profiles. I have recently added terpinator from Rhizoflora to increase resin glands on bud structure. I can’t wait to see flowers develop, am hoping for a heavy yield from laughing Buddha and blueberry

WEEK 1:"COME OUT AND PLAY" ☠️Day 0...seeds are placed in a bowl with wet paper towels,on a heat mat... ...after 48 hours... they need more time... ☠️Day 000..after 56 hours 3 were ready to be planted,the other two seeds need more time...I planted them in coco coir.My earth is called "Coco Humus", it's a Greek product and it consists of coir, perlite and organic matter...I covered them with baggies for extra humidity...They are now under a 50 W Led light...Fingers crossed... ☠️Day 1...24/04/20...the babies have popped their first tiny leaves...their cotyledons are different than usual,they are a bit longer...the are under a 50W Led inside a cupboard..I have removed the baggies...they are still fragile and small ☠️Day 4...the babies are growing very slowly but they are OK ☠️Day 6...so they are growing very slowly...they have just popped their second pair of true leaves but they are still tiny...Our journey has begun... Here we are again! Flower Switch happened on Day 37, so in the middle of week 6, but for simplicity, i will condense the last Days of Veg into this here week 6. So a few days are missing from the final week count as i want to keep flowering weeks seperated from weg. Just keep in mind that she's about 3 days older then the week here would suggest. Its the end of the first flowering week and we can already spot lots of pistils, and the tops are getting ready to bud up! I defoliated her once before the flip and once on Day 43 because im scissor happy. Also, she was getting REALLY bushy, as you can see on the timelapse. Feeding is still the same 6L, around 6.0 PH, 5ml/L Grow and 1ml/L powerrots, will keep that going as long as shes stretching, then ill switch to flower nutes. Happens now every 3 days, though i suspect that it might be every 2 days soon, she is getting hungry. Pot is already somewhat light again and i watered her yesterday at the time of writing 😱😮

Earlier in the cycle, she was hit by a combination of: • Colder external temperatures • Environmental instability during early development • Slower initial adaptation compared to her sisters She never fully enjoyed the colder phase, and recovery has been slow but steady, not explosive. This update reflects a plant that is stabilizing, not one that is racing. ⸻ 🌡️ Environment Update • Day temperature: ~28 °C (successfully raised and now stable) • Humidity: ~65% • PPFD: ~600–850 (depending on height and position) • CO₂: ~900 ppm (now stabilizing around ~909 ppm) As outside temperatures remained low, the room naturally became its own heat source due to: • Increased plant mass • Higher light intensity • Addition of under-canopy lighting No forced heaters. No extremes. Just letting the system balance itself naturally. 🌬️ Airflow • Vortex extraction • Multiple cross-flow fans • Constant, gentle air movement No leaf chaos — just steady motion. ⸻ 💧 Feeding & Nutrition Strategy This week marks a clear transition phase. • EC: ~2.4 • pH: 6.5 (now transitioning downward — all feeds moving toward 6.0+) Why a Slightly Higher pH Right Now?
