🌱 GMO Cookies — Week 5 (12/12 From Seed) Late Veg / Pre-Flower Transition General Vibe The girls are feeling amazing this week — calmly exploding, super elegant, and bushing up beautifully. Structure is compact yet full, with a very balanced expression across the canopy. No rush, no stress — just plants doing plant things. Training & Structure We’re continuing with very gentle LST — mostly bending and positioning leaves rather than aggressive branch work. The goal is simple: • Open light pathways • Encourage lateral growth • Let the plants decide their final shape They’re responding incredibly well: tight internodes, bushy profiles, and strong posture. You can clearly see the progression in the photos from the beginning to the end of the week. Growth Stage Observation By the end of this week, we’re starting to see early pre-flower signs. Nothing dramatic yet, but the transition is clearly beginning. ➡️ Next week’s update should start showing more defined flower development. ⸻ 💧 Nutrition & Water Strategy This week we introduced CalMag Pro — not because the plants are asking for it, but as a proactive step heading into flower. Why now? • We’re using collected rainwater + dehumidifier water, which is extremely soft • Before stacking base nutrients and supplements, we need to build a proper mineral foundation • This ensures stability and availability later, especially during stretch and early flower demand This is preparation, not correction. Autopot Zone We’re running two feeding zones in the tent (6 plants total), which is why you’ll see different measurements in the diary photos: • Autopot zone: mineral-based recipe only • EC: 2.29 • pH: 6.0 • (Organics don’t play well with Autopots — keeping it clean and stable) • Solution temperature: ~22–23°C across both zones • Slightly warmer on purpose to support root activity during colder weather ⸻ 🌡️ Environment • Humidity: ~58% • Temperature: ~21°C Outside conditions have been tough this week (4–5°C with 90–98% humidity), so honestly, we’re happy with how stable the room is holding. More importantly, the plants are reacting calmly and positively, which always matters more than chasing textbook numbers. CO₂ remains unchanged at ~666 ppm — steady and sufficient for this stage. We’ll reassess during flower. ⸻ 💡 Lighting & PPFD • Top light: 100% • PPFD: ~700–850 (depending on plant size) The girls are praying to the light — no pushing, no forcing. We let them grow how they want to grow. Under-Canopy Lighting (LumiFlora) By the end of this week, we’re turning on the under-canopy lighting for the first time. Why now? • Plants have grown past the fixtures • It’s time for them to start recognizing photons from all directions • This prepares lower growth for the coming stretch and flower set We’re starting very gently at ~30% power, then increasing slowly based on plant response. No shock, no rush — just layered light introduced with intention. I cleaned the roots this week with lots of tap water. The PPM drain was at 1100 and I lowered it to 550. Then I gave 1L of fertilized water at 850PPM to each plant. Week 3 of flower Things are humming along nicely. The Red Hot Cookies (back left), Lemon Orange (back right) have really stretched out and are really throwing out bud sites. The Mimosa X Orange Punch (front right) is really starting to get into flower now. Although I flipped to 12/12 3 weeks ago she seems like she is really only in week two of flower now. Welcome to my Fast Buds sponsored shootout and living organic soil v coco side by side. I also plan to use this grow to my full advantage regarding a few age old nagging questions about methods. I have had a keen interest in L.O.S ( supersoil) since reading a few threads a while back on how amazing and productive it can be. After too much research and procrastinating I had to give it a go. I have been a decades coco/nft grower and recently threw my hat in the rdwc ring too. I have avoided soil due to the overwatering worry ( heavy handed chimp brain !) and the best potting soil/feeds. Catching up on the advances in indoor soil gardening and organics led me too subcools supersoil recipes to name a few but being a town dweller with farms everywhere around me still drew blanks on a lot of the ingredients needed and where the hell I could even begin to get them from. Thankfully , commercial savvy has now made buying it in ready to use and with a full range of beneficial bacteria ect available in amendments from a grow shop here in the uk. ecothrive have realised the potential for us to dive into this medium with all the mixing , measuring and resourcing. I bit the bullet and £150 later I now have 4 x37Litre pots that will be used for as long as I want to feed the soil for without EVER needing nutrients again potentially. The coco has also had charge mixed in to encourage the bennies to colonize there too. I will be using the shogun nutes that I know do the business with coco to compare with for yield , growth and taste. I have 3 seeds each of 4 Fast Buds Strains to use as a control for the grow and am journaling each strain in their own diaries. This statement will be used to start each one as the information is identical at this point but following this I will do them individually. I am now starting their second week since opening the seed packets , straight into soaked and shook root riot cubes and into the heated propagator. They had all showed their heads by end of day 3 and a couple needed helmet surgery to open up without being hindered . I have has them in the prop for a few days but they needed to get settled as they were popping roots out all over the cubes. They have now been in their final pots for 2 days complete and starting their 3rd today at day 8 since planting in cubes. I am impressed with the speed and success of these girls already (12 of 13 germinated) . Well done fast buds. So here we go folks , any comments , ideas ,questions , advice are always welcome and I hope we can have some fun experimenting with defol v non defol , topping v fimming v bending and any other curiosities along the way. 1/2/23 - The lady is getting fairly close to harvest so I've added the dry KoolBloom to her mix... not real sure if you're supposed to use it WITH the liquid but since the liquid is already in the bucket and since it's really hard to get a potassium or phosphorus toxicity, yeah... why not! She'll be coming down in a week or two.... I'm kind of excited! OH! And btw, this lady's leaves just naturally curl down - nothing I did changed that, EVER... and she certainly didn't have a nitrogen toxicity and her pH was always pretty spot on... it's just the way she grows... she's, well, DIFFERENT! LOL! 01/03 - Really bulking up all over... trichs are getting pretty milky so it shouldn't be long now! 01-06 - Reduced her EC to 0.6 for the next couple of days. Going to harvest on Sunday, I think! 01/04 - She's really happy... REALLY happy! And I'm so happy with her!! 01/05 - I've pretty much decided she's going to get the chop this weekend. Since her CBD:THC is 30:1, I'm not going to get amber trichs on her so am relying on other means to measure her readiness for harvest... her fade is continuing, her pistils are becoming mostly brown, her buds are pretty fat and dense, her EC is rising and pH really falling madly so she's telling me she's got way too much food at present (and I haven't increased that at all) ... which means she's probably leeching nutes into the water ... anyway, this weekend will be her last ... I'll change out the bucket today and just put her on FloraKleen for a couple of days... Trim jail, here I come! :-D Happily!! 01/07 - tomorrow is the day...

I tried her now several times. She get's better every week during cure but after roughly 1,5 months, she still tastes only slightly like a cookies strain.
