Folder 03 – Chem Brulee – Pheno B | Week 2 If Pheno A is expressing elegance through spacing and structure, then Pheno B is taking a different route. Compact. Purposeful. Focused. This phenotype is developing into a beautiful little powerhouse. From the very beginning, Chem Brulee Pheno B has carried a slightly different personality, and that contrast is becoming even more apparent during Week 2. The internodal spacing remains noticeably tighter, creating a denser canopy and giving the entire plant a compact, sturdy appearance. Every new set of leaves seems determined to stack directly on top of the last, building a structure that feels efficient and well organized. The first thing that catches my attention is the vigor of the new growth. The apical growth tip is expanding rapidly, producing healthy, vibrant foliage with excellent color and leaf development. The newest leaves display beautiful symmetry and texture, suggesting that the plant is completely comfortable in her environment and actively pushing forward. The stem is thickening nicely and already provides a strong foundation for future development. Combined with the tighter node spacing, it creates the impression of a plant that is investing heavily in structural strength before committing to vertical expansion. Looking down from above, the canopy appears remarkably balanced. The side branches are beginning to establish themselves while remaining neatly tucked beneath the upper growth. This compact architecture often becomes particularly interesting once flowering begins, as closely stacked nodes can develop into dense flowering sites throughout the stretch phase. One characteristic I especially enjoy in this phenotype is the way the foliage naturally frames the center growth. The plant seems to be building upward while simultaneously maintaining a clean and organized structure, making every stage of development easy to observe and document. Chem Brulee Pheno B is a perfect example. While sharing the same genetics and receiving the same care as her sister, she is already revealing a more compact and tightly structured growth pattern. Neither approach is better. Just different. And that difference is exactly what makes phenotype hunting so fascinating. Mr. Baggy has naturally approved the progress report and continues his highly specialized role as Director of Leaf Inspection and General Garden Supervision. As Week 2 comes to a close, Chem Brulee Pheno B stands healthy, vigorous, beautifully compact, and fully on track. This week brought a mix of progress and a little drama. On Day 30, the Do-Si-Dos Auto was top-dressed with worm castings, Stonington Plant Food, and fish bone meal, then watered with a Big Bud nutrient solution (2 ml/L). She responded well and showed continued healthy growth. On Day 32, a surprising discovery: the main stem had snapped during earlier LST without being noticed, effectively topping the plant. The damage was clean and the plant adjusted quickly, redirecting growth to surrounding branches. LST ties were released temporarily to reduce stress, and leaves were tucked to expose new growth. Light LST resumed later in the week to maintain an even canopy. Humidity ranged from 53–65% and temps hovered between 75–81°F. Lighting was gradually increased to nearly 75% over the course of the week, with the light height raised to 21" above the canopy after redesigning the desk setup. The plant was placed onto a new auto-watering base, raising the pot height and improving drainage and airflow. No Cal-Mag was applied this week, but a Cal-Mag watering is planned for early Week 6.

Plant suffered of poor quality water, problems of transpiration and nutrients absorption due to pH unbalanced values, low humidity level, both light and ventilation intensity excess. Humidity is under control: stabilised between 45% and 50% continuously. pH has been fixed to 6.0 in all H2O solutions. Exhaust fan has been equipped of a rotative knob control in order to settle power: once desired humidity level is overpassed ventilation can be returned to max speed in order to maintain 24,5 Celsius degrees. The plant well reacted to the care it received and the measures put in place, which given the visible critical health condition, were drastic and extreme. Possible combination of over feeding, overwatering and excess of light, responding to stress to be identified, on the basis of following visible symptoms : - leaves have turned thick, fat, dark deep green; - leaves start curling; - leaves hint a deep yellow hue; - new leaves are born with light green and yellow tips; - leaves report burnings such as fresh black spots which turn into dry brown spots; - 1 leaf at the third node is born with 4 tips, the second one is a 5 tips leaf correctly. Additional considerations to be uploaded asap regarding : - Biochar pH 8,5; - Biochar nutrients absorption and retention capacity in relation with organic growing; - Biochar and Coco Coir micro and macro nutrients binding capacity; - moon effect during plant life cycle; - huge vitality has been noticed during crescent moon appearance; - plant is asking for more and more feeding; - growing will be abandoned for no more than 96 hours therefore a self irrigating cotton rope wick system has been implemented. Edging along. Less leggy now. Would probably benefit from longer hours of light, but my Haze is in third week of flowering and 12/12 is mandatory just now. Haven't filled the DWC pot yet. Once a week I dip the rockwool in a weak Ionic Hydro Grow solution. That's all she gets, for now.

Plant has been getting straight pH balanced water this last week and minimal nutes. It is showing some slight nute burn so I let off a bit and raised the light canopy about 6”. I discovered that what I thought was a calcium or potassium deficiency was actually a rookie grower error by me. I have an RO system that I use to water all my strains in the grow room including this one, but when adding nutes to the water, it takes too long so I had been filling them up with well water. When I had originally tested the well water, I must had used a faulty testing agent as after testing it this last week, I was showing a pH of 7.5 vs. my RO of 6.2. Thus, every time I was adding nutes (multiple times a week) I was significantly fluctuating the pH between regular feedings and nutrient additions. To make matters worse, when I originally thought it was nute burn, I flushed each plant with well water and likely caused additional stress. Anyway, I have since learned that the well water needs to be treated, I only utilize RO water the last few days and plan to do so over this next week. Also, I have turned off the CO2 system as I was starting to see signs of heat stress on a couple of the strains (not this one). The literature I have reviewed suggested that these strains might be able to handle heat closer to 90F but it was also causing issues with high humidity so when I added a dehumidifier, it pushed the day temp to between 90-92F and the overnight temps were not getting low enough (maybe 85F or so). Maybe I could leave out the dehumidifier, but I was getting rH of 70% and didn’t want to risk any bud rot or mildew growth. So for now, I have turned off the CO2 and am getting high temps of 81F with 60% humidity and overnight temps of 74F and 50% humidity. The Future #1 has shown the least signs of stress and is fattening up its buds very nicely. Over the next few weeks I will start monitoring the trichomes for a nice milky color for harvesting.

End of Week 8 (First week of flower) Increased the CO2 to 1200ppm and the ladies love it, already started stretching within the first 3 days of flower which shows that CO2 definitely boosts the grow cycle of cannabis. The main top-sites are popping up everywhere and everything looks evenly spread out. I defoliated again because the fan leaves are growing so fast and blocking bud sites. I also did one last lower canopy maintenance and removed small and stalky bud sites and stems below the trellis net to make sure I get maximum energy distribution to the main colas. I also added some GHF BioEnhancer to make sure the soil-microbes are happy and that the plants reach their maximum potential. Pest Report: EXTERMINATED! Thrips VS Ladybugs VS Neem Oil... I decided to fight fire with fire - I purchased Swirski-Mites from Koppert (They are beneficial insects that feed on the eggs and larvae of thrips and other unwanted pests). As for the adult thrips - I got very lucky and found about 10 Ladybugs in my garden and decided to introduce them into my grow room as they will feed on adult thrips and any other unwanted pests. Then to be extra sure I know that neem oil hinders the life cycle of pests like thrips causing them to stop colonising in my grow room. So I sprayed the ladies every day during the dark period to make sure there are no pests that I or the Ladybugs have missed. Mission accomplished. No more wilting and definitely no more thrips.

Week 12: Tangie Finish Line in sight Today, I checked Tangie’s trichomes and noticed that 20% have already turned amber. This signals that it’s time for a flush. I’m using pH-balanced water (pH 6) with an EC of just 0.092 ms/cm due to my extremely soft water. My goal is to stress Tangie a bit in these final days to boost trichome production. I plan to remove some fan leaves two days before harvest and let the soil dry out slightly. She has about 4-5 more days to go. The aroma has become incredibly strong, with a vibrant, fruity scent dominating the air. It’s amazing how much more potent this smell is compared to the pre-harvested buds, which are now in the curing process and beginning to release that delightful orange and citrus fragrance. I’m eager to compare the flavor, potency, and high between the early and late harvests. The finish line is definitely in sight and I'm happy that I could let her ripen entirely to she what she is capable of 😍 Update 17.08 (Day 82) Today I decided to finally harvest the rest of this lovely Tangie. The trichomes showed a good mix of amber and cloudy trichomes, and I don't want to risk letting her overripen. I opted to cut only the fan leaves again to ensure a slow and consistent drying process.
