The girls are coming on a treat! These are the type of girls you could strip down to near enough naked and the next day they look bushy as again👌🏼😏 this would be ideal but since we are scrog'in it's proving a bit difficult so unsure if we are going to go for a true s.o.g or use it just to create space ! The girls are coming along great and are brilliant to grow - 4 out of 5 of the girls are spot on! The middle one , is around 30cm smaller and taking her time! But apart from that super skunk is spot on! Flowers have started popping through everywhere so looking forward too seeing the profession over the upcoming weeks 😁 Happy growing 🤗😎

8/19/23 - Day 67 - Things are still looking good. We just had a water change. A couple more weeks! 8/21/23 - OK, ok ok, we have a lot of work coming up. Right now is like the calm before the storm. The storm I'm talking about is harvest, trimming, drying, and curing. This is the kind of labor that you LOVE to HATE. Especially with how many buds ill be pulling from this LEAF box. Let's talk about progress real fast. She is getting bulkier every day. Overnight she drank about 300+ ppm of nutes. She likes the nutes a lot. I'm taking this as a reason for all the little snowy crystals and the enlargement of the buds. Flushing: For about a week before harvest I will empty the water+Nutes and refill only with Water. We want the plant to suck up and replace all the nutes in the buds with water. This is called flushing. Trimming plans and Tools: When it's time to trim the plant, I've got a plan in mind. I'm going to trim the buds while they're still wet, and I'll leave them attached to the stems. To simplify the drying process, I will split the LEAF into two parts – the top and the bottom. Since space is a bit tight in the LEAF with this grow, I will keep just the buds on the branches. This will help the air circulate the buds better. I've even found this cool trimming tray on Amazon that I'm planning to use. I've realized that having the right tools for trimming is essential. Just like I'd put on gloves to work on a car, I will use nitrile gloves to keep things clean while trimming. And I'll use proper trimming scissors instead of regular ones. These scissors are designed for this job and should make the process much smoother. Amazon - Trimming Tray - (somewherr brand pictured above) Amazon - Nitrile Gloves Amazon - Trimming Scissors Drying Plans and Tools: Once I'm done trimming, it's time to dry the buds. I'm thinking of using simple tension rods, like those small shower curtain rods, to hang the branches. This way, I can create two levels inside the drying box. The lower part can rest on a SCROG net to ensure good airflow and even drying for all the branches. The LEAF box will handle the drying parameters. The environment inside the LEAF box will focus only on keeping the humidity at 60% and moving the air around getting the buds to a non-mildew amount of humidity. Amazon - Tension rods 16-28” Curing Plans and Tools After the buds are dry (60% humidity), the next step is curing. This means I'll be storing the buds in sealed glass jars. I've got mason jars and hygrometers to monitor humidity levels. Once the jars are filled with buds, I'll seal them and put them in an cool, dark spot. I plan to open the jars briefly every day to let in some fresh air. (15min). I'll know the curing is done when the humidity inside the jars stays around 62% during these "burps." She went from about 900 at the beginning of the week to about 330. Now she's back up to 500ppms. We change the water in one more day. 8/24/23 - Day 72 - It's official: I have moved the smell slider up! Holy shit, does it smell potent. I put my arm in there through the Weed forest, and when my arms came out, I was attacked by the Skunk BOSS. I had to shower and change my outfit to eliminate the smell. Hadn’t really planned on starting veg in the middle of the night but I’m an insomniac and I think they were ready. Transplanted into clay pellets pre washed and pre soaked in ph 5.8 RO water. Going to flood for 15 minutes every 6 hours. Wanted to start off very light and technaflora recipe for success didn’t exactly say what to do for early veg, so decided to go 1/4 strength to start and work up from there. Starting at roughly 50% on the dimmer and will gradually ramp up. Added a humidifier since I’m in a very dry climate. First grow, hoping I’m not overthinking this. Wish me luck. Update 3/27 Realized I didn’t have enough water in my reservoir and plants were looking pretty stretchy. Added 5 gallons of ph5.8 1/4 strength solution. Shooting for 400 ppm for week 1 of actual veg. Plants are officially a week old from dropping in soil plugs. I think I’m going to count this as start of veg since I kinda screwed up with water level. Thankfully clay was soaked when I transplanted. Update 3/30 Plants stretched a little bit yesterday and started to topple over. Spent the better part of yesterday trying to keep them upright. In retrospect I originally transplanted these way too tall. Carefully dug away pellets and replanted deeper so leaves are just above ground level. All plant root systems look healthy. Bottom left plant is looking sadder than the rest with some droopy leaves. It was the stretchiest of the bunch. Update 3/31 PH had crept up to 6.4. Added 5 gal of ro water to top off. Brought ppm up to 400 and ph down to 5.8. Plants bounced back very nicely from deeper transplant. Running humidifier on lowest setting while lights are on to keep it around 70% rh Update 4/1 Upped nutes from 400 to 650ppm. Trying to ramp up to full strength by second week of veg. PH had crept up to like 6.5, brought it down to 5.8. Humidifier is only on during the day. At night it causes humidity to skyrocket and droplets to form on leaves even on lowest setting. May need to get it on a timer or just get a better humidifier. This 2.2L sucks

Mainly just monitoring things this week and watering and on humidity control. Got a deal on a large 20 inch fan and added it to the gorilla tent. and a deal on a Honeywell oscillating fan i added to the other flowering tent. Nighttime humidity has been hard to control even with my dehumidifier running while lights are off in the lung room. I want to run it during lights on but running into wattage issues on certain circuits i don't want to overload i only have 15 amp breakers. At was at least able to convince the "roomates" to let me set the nighttime house ac down to 73, so that was able to help me get tent temps down from high 80's to the low 80's during their "daytime" while having the light 100 percent. Vivosun tent is doing a little better with the humidity. I have a little more wattage in the lights and the canopy is a little more manageable so not transpiring as much. Towards the end of the week they hit a wall at their drinking and noticed a little more run-off than usual which is little to about a quart. out of 6-8 gallons in each time. One of the waterings this week included some microbe and fungal inoculant to give the rootzone an extra boost now that the plants are going to focus more on feeding themselves. adding a little bit of azomite to the water in the hopes theirs trace amounts of soluble silica in it. I want to start using a water soluble silica specific feed but I haven't found anything that's completely organic and soluble so that's why i opted to add some silica fixing microbes to fill any gaps the boogie brew may not be filling.

I will call this the 2nd annual Polar Express grow. Really happy with the result of the grow over all. She did 3 days dark before I chopped her. I put her into dry whole, a little slower drying time. I'm hoping for a good solid couple oz from this harvest. The first tile I ever grew was this strain, the stress of the first grow was really unwarranted. If you are looking for a first grow strain, Polar Express from Auto Seeds should be on your list. 2.3 OZ trimmed , pretty happy over all.

Added a top layer of soil with added nutes so that only needed to water normally and let the top mix do the work down below. Will mix in more compost tea every other day and towards the end of the week, hit it with my normal organic nutes mix. The plant is looking healthy and continues to flower out and each cola is starting to thicken nicely. I have a few leaves here and there showing some discoloration so will watch closely to ensure I don’t have a light or nute issue. Will move the light intensity to 80% on the LED panels after this next week and as long as the leaves still look good. The grow room is fairly warm (80F) and rH is high (75 – 80rH) but my CO2 levels are fairly high as well so the plants should be fine. Running 2 x HO Solarcure UVBs for 2 hours about an hour after the LED lights turn on at the beginning of the 12 hour set and for 2 hours about an hour before the LEDs turn off at the end of the set.

Just watching and waiting for trichomes to go milky. They're still clear. Plain water from now on.
