Chemical reactions in which, a single substance splits up into two or more simpler substances are called decomposition reactions. These reactions are carried out by energy, supplied by different sources. The required energy can be supplied by heat (thermolysis), electricity (electrolysis), or light (photolysis). Let’s talk about photolysis reactions (not photosynthesis): Photolysis (also called photodissociation and photodecomposition) is a chemical reaction, in which a chemical (an inorganic or an organic) is broken down by photons and is the interaction of one or more photons with one target molecule. The photolysis reaction is not limited to the effects of visible light, but any photon with sufficient energy (higher than the dissociation energy of the targeted bond) can cause the chemical transformation of the said (inorganic or organic) bond(s) of a chemical. Since the energy of a photon is inversely proportional to the wavelength, electromagnetic waves with the energy of visible light or higher, such as ultraviolet light, X-rays, and γ -rays, can also initiate photolysis reactions. Like all other peroxides, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) also consists of a relatively weaker O−O bond, which is susceptible to light or heat. The net equation for the reaction is: 2H2O2⟶2H2O+O2 The step-wise reaction mechanism is suggested as follows (Ref.1): H2O2+hν⟶2HO∙ HO∙+H2O2⟶HO−O∙+H2O HO−O∙+H2O2⟶2HO∙+H2O+O2 Using isotope studies it was confirmed that the O2 formed is cleanly derived from H2O2 (Ref.2). Notes: The rate increases rapidly in the presence of catalysts such as MnO2 and KI (Ref.2). The rate of decomposition is slow at room temperature, but it increases with temperature. It is believed to be due to thermal decomposition of H2O2, which seemingly accelerates the photolysis (Ref.3). References: 1.J. P. Hunt, H. Taube, “The Photochemical Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide. Quantum Yields, Tracer and Fractionation Effects,” J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1952, 74(23), 5999–6002 (https://doi.org/10.1021/ja01143a052). 2.A. Kilpatrick, “The Photochemical Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide Solutions,” J. Phys. Chem. 1927, 31(10), 1507–1510 (https://doi.org/10.1021/j150280a004). Interestingly, as early as 1934 Haber and Weiss (Ref. 1) proposed that HO2∙ is formed in the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. The subsequent reaction of the transient superoxide radical anion with hydrogen peroxide has been determined to also form the hydroxyl radical (Ref. 2). The higher pH version of the last reaction is, therefore, best represented as: O2∙−+H2O2⟶2HO∙+OH−+O2 And as H++OH−=H2O, the net product formation is not altered. However, alkaline H2O2 is well known to be less stable than acidic hydrogen peroxide (Ref.3) even in absence of light exposure, which accelerates its decomposition (which can involve radical pathways) liberating oxygen! So this grow came to a finshed but I had a. Few issues that’s held me up from finishing up the diary, but in due time I will reupload it all in order soon. But over all I will also update with a final weigh in of each strain produced so stay tuned 🤙🏻🔥

Right out of the nursery! Root came out of stone wool by approx 2cm before moving into Waterfarm. I am not very comfortable with current light setup. I will leave flood light for vegetation as it is for this run but will try to organize some better equip befor flower. Current cooling also needs improvement - I try to do it step by step. Day 4 - Got an accident, not sure if she survives it. I will keep watching her but probably will update less frequently in next days. Day 7 - Alright, looks like she will survive that but she looks very week because of stress I gave her in first days...

The Orange Hill Special is finishing! She has compact and dense buds that have grown in. The waiting is on the amber trichomes now, which I'm giving her time for! There are some more faded leaves and she is clearly rounding it up. The smells in the room (and the house are getting very pungent and were happy we don't have many visitors in the coming days! We are beyond camouflage. She has some more space as I've taken out the Gorrila for darkness. That one was way more done, but this one needs one more week, I gather. Take care and thank you for following again!!

She has started her bloom. She is growing so well. This week I took off all her tie downs. Then 2 days later decided to tie her back down. She has had steady tension on her branches. So when I released her, she tightened back up. With the ties on, there is little reason for defoliation, as of now. She gained height, but nothing crazy. All her main top branches have always been pulled down to be side branches. Everything else was let to grow that came up the center. Really the side branches are the top of the canopy. Surprised I have not broke a branch. 8/26 2 gallons Fed 8 tablespoons Foxfarm Big Bloom, 15 MLS Tiger bloom and Foxfarm Open sesame 1/2 teaspoon. 8/30 Gallon and a half of tea. Cow and worm poop. Every year I'm going to grow a photo in a different shape. This year I just wanted to see how many tops I could make. Looking forward to next year's design. However not as much as I want to see what this voluptuous beauty produces. Voluptuous seems to be very fitting for her. Love this plant, she has been very fun to grow. She also thought me a lot.

27.10--> They've grown enough. It's time to change the light pattern to 12-12. I will change the light pattern tomorrow. 31.10--> After 12-12 light patterns they started to grow very quickly.
