An exciting week here training this girl. Was spacing her out throughout the week using the low stress ties. You can see all of them pulling her out. Idk what to do with the middle ones. I've tried those before but they kinda stunt for me. Watering every other day right now. And I know, I've gotta defoliate her. I'll do that when I lollipop mid week. Having said that, there won't be much this run as I trained while in flower. First off I just want to say for some reason it’s not letting me change the right temperatures on my diaries ! Each time when I put it in they stay at 50. My day air stays 75 degrees an , night degrees is 70 ! Today is day 58 for all these ladies! This week has been really great ! Girls really progressed a lot , especially for one the Forbiddin Runtz, looks like is gonna finish up in a week or 2 ! Other then that they are coming along well! Here we are at the end of week 4. I’ve grown this plant once and took her at 56 days, but I have since switched to an 11-13 flowering photoperiod which does seem to hasten maturity. My garden is 100% personal and this plant is some of my favorite herb. She has a berry smell, but there is also leather. Very nice. Not recommended for daytime. She also yields very well. These flowers will really swell in the last couple of weeks. I was able to get a height measurement on her when I moved her into the flower tent. I take this measurement and compare it to the final height at harvest. This observation will give me a good idea of how much she stretches. I find that the ratio I record is applicable as long as the environment is similar. I do this so I can try to time the transition to flower to maximize vertical growth (and yield) on future grows. Nothing is worse than when you know they are going to grow into the lights and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

Girls really starting to fill out and gain height. Starting to see pre flower so switching light and feed schedule to flower.

UPDATE: Day 2 of week 9 Saturday 17th October: Nutes in today and more LST. Defo running out of space, so LST is proving more tricky and stems are less bendy now and much easier to crease! I’m tempted to not try too much more teasing of the plant and purely work on light height from here on in.. I don’t wanna mess up all my hard work by trying to force the plants too hard, damage them and stress them out. Other than that all looking great and pistils coming through lovely 😊 UPDATE- Day 4 of week 9: Monday 19th October Nutes in again. Increased the BioBizz Top Max this week to 3ml/l so let’s see how they respond. One girl looks like she’s a little slower than the others but other than that happy days. Oh and the crease I made in the main stem on one of my ladies last watering, doesn’t seems to have suffered any for it thankfully.. UPDATE: Day 6 of week 9 Wednesday 21st October; Nutes in and a little defoliation. Have a mild case of thrips, so I’m concerned about what products to use as I’m now in the 3rd week of flower and don’t want to spoil the buds or taste.. Argh! Since putting in the dehumidifier temps have soared which is what’s causing the thrips.. Gonna use the cardboard box method for the dehumidifier to get it out the tent, just need to pickup an aluminium hose and ducting tape. Pretty pissed as I’ve had such a smooth ride up till now. Really don’t wanna spoil my first grow. Thinking some Neem oil may help but worried about spoiling the buds ☹️ Happy growing peeps! 💚✌️🏼

The only thing that happened this week was that I added under-canopy lighting. I don't expect much as it's a cheap light with only 24W (four LED strips x 6W), but since it was just lying around, I figured I might as well use it.

May 26 2026 She's been repotted into a 5 gallon grow bag, and that will serve as her home for the remainder of the grow. The soil in the bottom half is pro-mix all purpose, and the top half is a combination of coco coir, perlite, worm castings, biochar, blood meal, bone meal, Epsom salts, and a bit of cal-mag. She's making a lot of progress health-wise, and by next week she should look completely normal. I did remove a some lower fan leaves, as they were no longer of any use. ---------- On a side note: I had originally ordered 10 purple dragon ball F5 seeds from 7East, but they only sent me 6 due to lack of inventory and substituted with a generous amount of Watermelon Dragon seeds, which I'm fine with since I had intended to order those sometime in the future anyway. That said, of those 6 purple dragon ball seeds, there were 5 that initially cracked open but the inside of the seed was rotten. The sole surviving seed germinated properly, and while these are regular seeds and could be male or female, I'm confident this one is a female based on physical characteristics and a lack of pre-flower development on the 4th node. In rare cases I've seen males develop their first pre-flowers on the 5th node, but in those cases they ended up being male herms. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen here, but the only way to find out is to wait. ⏳

🌿 Lava Cake – Week 5 (First Week Flower) | Pre-Bloom & Heat Talk 🌿 The Lava Cakes have officially stepped into their flowering tent… though, to be fair, they’re still enjoying a little extra veg time before showing pistils. Both phenos are healthy, lush, and stretching beautifully, clearly ready for the show ahead. ⸻ 📸 Photo Studio Glam We took them out for another studio shoot, bright lights, clean background, and every angle showing off their deep greens and perfect branching. Soon, their beauty will be dressed in flowers, but for now, the leaf structure alone is worthy of the spotlight. ⸻ 🌡️ Current Conditions • Room Temp: 31°C • Humidity: 50.3% • VPD: 2.23 kPa • PPFD: 766 µmol/m²/s • Soil EC: ~2.0 • Soil Temp: 25.6°C Yes, the temperature is running hot — AC unit is on the way to lock it back into our ideal zone. ⸻ 💬 Heat in the Grow Room – Risks & Benefits Potential Risks: • Faster substrate drying = more frequent irrigation needed • Higher transpiration rates can stress plants if roots can’t keep up • Slightly increased risk of light stress at high PPFD without proper cooling • Possible reduced terpene retention if sustained into late flower Possible Benefits (short term in veg/pre-flower): • Accelerated metabolism — plants grow and stretch faster • Increased water/nutrient uptake (if well-fed and watered on time) • Can improve CO₂ usage efficiency if levels are high enough Bottom line: As long as they’re hydrated, fed, and ventilated, short bursts of high temp are manageable. But for flowering, we want to keep daytime temps closer to 24–28°C for optimal quality. ⸻ 💧 Watering Strategy We water when the soil dries to about 25% moisture remaining, this encourages: • Stronger root growth searching for water • Better oxygenation of the root zone • Less risk of root rot in warm temps Right now: They’re drinking daily due to the heat, so we’re feeding daily as well. ⸻ Current Feeding (per L of water) • Aptus Regulator – 0.15 ml • Aptus CalMag Boost – 0.25 ml • Aptus All-in-One Liquid – 1 ml • Aptus Top Booster – 0.25 ml With the increased drinking rate, nutrient uptake has increased — meaning no signs of deficiency, just steady lush green. ⸻ 🚀 Looking Ahead • AC installation will stabilize temps, allowing tighter VPD control • First signs of pistils should appear within the next 7–10 days • We’ll begin adjusting feed ratios for early bloom once flowers set • Light intensity will climb further as stretch continues ⸻ 💚 Closing Note: This week is all about momentum, heat or no heat, the Lava Cakes are pushing upward, prepping themselves for a heavy flower load. This past week has been a blast! After getting these ladies nutrition straightened out, they are thriving!💚🌱💚 I gave defoliated wayyy more than what I see other growers traditionally doing. After the "3rd and final haircut" I defoliated two more times 😅 Thank you the GD community for the support and resources along the way 🙏 My only concern now is the tent actually becoming too crowded.😆. Hey, everyone. Sorry for the late update, but I didn't get my regular time to update my journals this week, so updates are coming sporadically. Anyways, as far as this lady is concerned, she couldn't be happier. She is just starting to really put off some buds and start her stretch. I'm not sure how long she will stretch for, but I've got my eye on the lights, to keep them in optimal range. Also, in preparation for the stretch, I went ahead and bumped her up to 75% strength nutes (with 100% secondary additives, like Pro-TeKt and Dyna-Zyme) which puts her right around 900ppm and 5.9pH. This Amnesia XXL Auto has a heavy haze lineage and I can already smell it in her. I'm excited to see what this lady will yield since she is really starting to stack up during the start of the stretch. 11/22 - Uploaded new canopy shots (48 hours after bumping ppms).
