Cal-Mag Deficiency Adjustment – Pheno #5’s Special Needs This week started with a close inspection of our phenos, and we noticed that Pheno #5 was showing early signs of a calcium/magnesium deficiency. Whether it was slightly off VPD levels or this particular plant being more demanding, we decided to correct it by increasing the dose of RO Water Conditioner. Now, while this isn’t a direct substitute for Cal-Mag, it does contain trace amounts that can help stabilize the situation. 🔬 Understanding Cal-Mag Deficiency: Calcium and magnesium are essential secondary nutrients. Calcium strengthens cell walls, preventing issues like tip burn and weak stems, while magnesium plays a critical role in chlorophyll production, allowing plants to efficiently absorb light energy. 💡 Signs of Deficiency: • Yellowing between veins (Magnesium) • Rust spots on leaves (Calcium) • Slow growth and weak stems ⚡ How We Address It: • Slightly increasing RO Water Conditioner to see if trace minerals help • Keeping an eye on overall nutrient uptake to ensure no lockout • Monitoring VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) closely to optimize nutrient absorption Let’s see how she reacts next week! Branching Development – Pheno #2 Leading the Race All five phenos are thriving, but Pheno #2 is showing the most aggressive branching, pushing outward faster than her sisters. However, overall, we’re seeing very uniform growth, which speaks volumes about the stability of these genetics. 🌱 What is Branching & Why It Matters? Branching is the plant’s way of expanding its canopy, increasing surface area for photosynthesis, and maximizing potential bud sites. Well-structured branches allow better airflow, light penetration, and more even growth—key for a successful high-yield harvest. ⚖️ Topping vs. Leaf Bending – The Training Choice Instead of topping, I’ve decided to go with leaf bending for now. This method allows for gentle manipulation of the plant’s growth without causing major stress. Once we introduce the SCROG (Screen of Green) net, this training will help maximize the canopy spread. 26.12.24: These are my 2 best plants P1 and P2 Purple Punch, they are looking great! Not sure what happened to P3. They are in early flower/ pre-flower with the pistils clearly seen on P2. I am also hoping to tie some of the branches down to help light penetration on the lower canopies. I have noticed light stress on my plants. I had moved the lights further away and increased the light intensity to 70%. Unfortunately that created some issues. Namely severe palour of the leaves. To try and rectify the situation, I've dimmed the lights to about 30%, staying at the same distance, about 30 inches away. I measured the par levels, after I did this. They should a reading of anywhere between 40 and 150, at the canopy of the plants. They are all different sizes. This seems to have improved the colouring on all plants. After this evenings watering, I will monitor recovery and increase lighting intensity again slowly. I am also using the light cycle of 21/3, so the plants have many hours more light to absorb, than for example 12/12 or 18/6. I am pleased with the progress, considering all of my mistakes! 29.12.24: So I finally gave LST a shot, it's probably a bit too late, however I really want to get the most of the triploid pheno, and I went a little crazy and LST'd all plants except 2, as they're too small. I did that late last night, this afternoon I was amazed to see the plants turn their leaves back to the light source. I'm glad I overcame my fear of trying it. I'm very excited to see them adapt and progress! 😁 there are videos above with before and after of my LST process. Thanks for checking out my diary 🍃 ✌️

Week 4 was actually pretty smooth. she was showing nitrogen and potassium deficiencies because she was being terribly underfed and because i had weened her off the veg nutes WAY too soon. I found the dyna gro nutrient schedule and ive been following that. i will definitely be following the schedule much better next round as i wasnt actually aware they had a schedule out. Shes currently week 5 day 1 and shes already fat af and super trichomey.s he still got at least 2 weeks left. she might be ready by week 7 honestly tho who knows guess well see. Ive been giving her 1 gal each time of dechlorinated tap water just straight water. it has been phd to 6.6 ph. runoff tested at 6.3 ph. will probably flush one last time before continuing the bloom feed.

The final week is upon us. The buds glistening with trichomes, the smell is strong and pungent. Buds are tightening up and getting heavier, stems can barely hold the weight. Next week ✂️ I only gave plain water this week and added once 2ml/L of Flawless Finish

Things picking up now. Set up my in tent camera so that I can monitor the grow room and temps from my Phone! Great little gadget! Makes my work a lot easier too. More pictures of the girls shortly. DAY 32: Done some slight LST and leaf tucking to expose the bud sites to more light for more tops as I can tell pre flowers will soon start to appear.

Outdoor coco 15g pots Progress: Lava cake is about week 6.5. Starting to ripen and get heavy. Buds are getting fat. Strong sweet cookie/ ice cream smell. Buds are getting more frosty. Buds are getting so heavy I installed a net on 3 of 4 and doing #4 soon. On my most mature plant - About 25-30% of pistils have turned color. Some trichomes are milky, none amber. Looks like plants are a few days apart. Marathon OG week 5 1/2. Still stacking and getting fat. Smells dank. Trichomes are showing up. The 20 gallon OG is growing into a monster. I’m still waiting for the heavy bud stacks…. Nutes: Bumping up ppm, the dry koolbloom and molasses, stopping regular koolbloom and grow. Looking to starting flushing the lava cake in a week or so. Feeding 2x a day; 3x on hot days. Weather: Had a good week of cooler temps until yesterday, when it was 97. Looking at hugs in the 80s this week, perfect. Pests: The moths and caterpillars are in full swing so I’m applying BT every morning. I’m working hard to reduce caterpillar 🐛 losses. We lost all of the top colas on a plant in another location 💔 . I’m only losing one bud at a time and not the entire colas so far. Wishing fat buds and monster harvests to all.

Today starts week 6 and couldnt be happier everything is green and lush and i cant wait to see what she can do since im training her and shes supposed to be a tall sativa plant

This week isn’t much to update. Tied down some branches. Lowered my lamp for maximum efficiency vegetative growth. Got a 4x4 tent ordered so that I can flower in my current tent, and setup the 4x4 for veg growth next cycle and so on. The sun system 1850 will get put into my current tent 5x5 when it’s ready to flip this tent to flower. Got another ac infinity fan for the new veg tent. So things are all coming together. It’s been a lot of time, effort, and money, but it’s so rewarding to see all the pieces come together so I can grow some amazing medicine here at home. I run 150 light commercial grow myself, and its so nice to just have a change of pace at home to come work on and give each of my home plants the individual attention they deserve. Growing & growing. Watering about every 4/5 days now. I believe I had some deficiencies in the amended soil so I added some calimagic to the mix. I felt I had some nutrient issues earlier in the week, so I used some epsom salt spray and it appeared to help a bit.

The #1 is doing fine, the #2 is acting a bit weird. Took her almost two days (after breaking soil) to open up her leaves. Her leaves look a bit funky but she'll be fine I guess.
