Ginger Nut Cookies & Aussie Music Videos Week 16 Harvest 17 th April 2020 This Entire feminised seed making and growing project was a very good learning experience for me. Right from the very start, when I successfully got a Cutting ,taken from a Barneys Farm Red diesel female plant to produce feminised pollen after treating it with a silver thiosulfate solution. I then used it to pollinate a Fastbuds Girl scout cookies auto plant and let it grow to maturity. This only produced 3 viable seeds one of which is the subject of this Diary. I made up the name "Ginger nut cookies" after a variety of cookies we have here in Australia that are made with ginger. They are the same colour as the distinct red hairs on the red diesel buds. And would you believe those same vivid red hairs were passed on to this plant so I wasn't too far off the mark with the strain name. Her flavour however is nothing like red diesel or girl scout cookies and infact as taken on a smell and aroma all of it's own. She has a lovely tropical fruit like taste and the smell is a bit like fruit yoghurt. It has an unreal after taste on the exhale and the lingering second hand smoke smells very sweet and enticing. She has a pretty well balanced high too not as potent as the GSC nor as energenic as the red diesel but just a pleasant mix of the two. It was a very easy to grow and undemanding plant that didn't seem to require a lot of extra feeding other than the 100% organic nutrients that were within the soil and a few things like compost teas etc. The other element of this diary was of course the weekly Aussie music videos That I provided the links for and put up a little video clip preview of each Artists song. Week 1 Dance Monkey Week 2 Gotye Week 3 AC/DC Week 4 INXS Week 5 Dire straits Week 6 Yothu yindi and Midnight oil Week 7 Divinyls Week 8 Was Request week where I asked growers to pick and because only 3 growers put in a request I decided to choose all three which were Kylie Minogue , Flume & Airbourne Week 9 Paul Kelly Week 10 Daddy Cool Week 11 Cold chisel Week 12 Jimmy Barnes Week 13 The Angels Week 14 Crowded House Hoodoo gurus Mental as Anything Week 15 Empire of the sun Big Pig , Silverchair , Peking duk Grinspoon , Hilltop hoods and the White stripes And Finally for the last lot of music videos I have chosen another multi list bonanza of Aussie Music with the artist/s name and Youtube link below. So in no particular order here are my last choices for this Diary its been a fun grow with a steep learning curve. End off week 11, concluding week 7 off flowering: Hi(gh) Guys! Thanks for viewing my weekly update (i hope again?)! The girls are doing great. I have to come back on a previous statement, i said that 3 girls are ahead of the rest and up for an early harvest, although that is both true, actually there straight on schedule, and i think the rest is behind. The manual on this strain says they need 9 weeks and flowering week 7 is now concluded. They start to gain weight all three and the stems are beginning to bend. This upcoming week they will get their last nutrients, but week 9 they will only get water, so i can flush properly for the upcoming week and a half. End of week 9 they will be terminated, because my vaporizer is idle for too long already! As for the rest, they will need at least 2 or 3 weeks longer, because everywhere i look i see loads of white hairs, and i’m seeing forward to show you some off my biggest nugs ever! This is my first time on this website and i’m having a lot of fun. Earlier i'd grow my best round ever with 9 Gorilla Glue #4 ladieboys, what nice buds did they produce. But i guess the OG is going to be at least as close. That’s good for me because this is my favorite strain. Please leave a comment, and like my post. My account needs a little more love! Please come and see for another update next week. (p.s. sorry for that shakie video, I was sitting on top of an little pebble with my knee, but I liked the video anyway…)

End of Week 6 Added CO2 with regulator and controller! Added the trellis net to spread out the canopy and get more even light to bud sites. The ladies have lost some momentum and they're drinking less because of the pest issue. Although they should be growing faster because of the CO2 supplementation I'm sure when the thrips are gone they will explode. I also performed some HST by removing fan leaves and softly pinching and bending some of the stems to open up the canopy whilst keeping the stress at a minimal. Pest Report: Still fighting the thrips... Every time I spray Bio-Insek and Xterminator (Agro-Organics) it deals with the problem for a few days until the eggs and larvae that the thrips left behind hatch and start munching on the plants again. The ladies are strong and healthy and get a slight wilt when I haven't sprayed IPM for a few days this tells me that its not a major issue but I need to get rid of them especially because I want to flip to flower soon. It seems that the problem is under control. Now I will apply it weekly to make sure those buggers are ELIMINATED.

Aug 2: Mimosa Shot is hitting her stride now. She didn’t like the cooler temperatures as much as Sunday Punch EV, for example, but she’s loving this hot start to August. Aug 3: done with force flowering and will now just leave her in the yard. So, back up to 15.5 h of daylight here now. Still using far red light at dusk. Aug 6: Mimosa Shot has stretched again, likely mostly due to 3 days of hot weather.

9/15 I'm starting by saying that the plant doctor is a great product. For the first time in forever I have no traces of wpm. The fusarium doesn't seem to be spreading g either. Blueberry is exploding in growth. It seems like everyday the buds are bigger. We had a MASSIVE wind storm. I mean a windstorm that knocked down trees. The blueberry was the only one that wasn't properly vertically trellises. My tiny little supports didn't hold. Nothing broke and there's no damage but I had to move the plant and secure it better. I didn't have time before the doctor but I HAD to do it. I used the trellis from another plant to keep the branches upright as they're so heavy. If it RAINED those branches would've snapped for sure. I put the little one in the lean-to beside the barn out of the wind. Blueberry is getting closer. I really think k it'll make it. UPDATE: I took some buds from the plants that died in early flower and washed them for ice water hash. Well I'm in the process of washing some. There's a lot and I want to see if it's any good before I kill my arms. It's a great forearm workout though. Although it's hard to take a drink now. Of course that's when it REALKY started bubbling furiously. I know I'll get double the next pull at least. I'm going to let it sit and maybe add some more when I do it. I'll post a temple ball if it works out. If not I have other stuff to wash. I may do a diary on that. Went back over and all plants seem happy despite the gusts of wind. Luckily I was able to get the tarp up. I'm taking a break before I die from exhaustion. I felt off the ladder earlier this morning..... 9/16 I watered the plants a little. The soil was dry to the touch but i noticed the container was still heavy so I lightly watered. With all this sun and it supposed to be 80 today I felt I needed to water. The wind is still horrific. I have my blueberry trellises pretty good. Others have wind breaks. I fell hard yesterday morning hurrying around. I was on an upside down bucket on one foot and it kicked put from under me. Legs flew in the air. Luckily I wasn't injured. At least that's something I've taken from martial arts that's benefitted me. Knowing how to fall. Anyway everything is progressing nicely in flower. I'm goi g to continue with beastie bloom but I'll switch over shortly to cha ching. I'm getting close. Also ran a batch of water hash with the buds of dead plants. I didn't think I'd get anything but I did. Now to properly dry it and see if it's any good. Still a heart break. Oh well. 9/17 I totally fucked everything up. I uploaded a shit ton of pictures to the wrong week. The app wasn't working. Hope I didn't fuck or too much. Fed everything today. The blueberry is in late flower. Some buds look REAL close to being done. My wife keeps talking to me so I can't finish this. I have to do things one at a time sometimes and this just isn't working here. Massive wind storms but no broken branches. Temps get down close to freezing at night. Low Temps are bringing out fall colors. I took a video of the blueberry. the other two won't be done for a little bit though. Oh well. I'll just bring them inside the garage at night. 9/18 I've been out multiple times to shake the buds today. It's not raining now but it did last night and today. Another day or two of rain and then some. I che ked some trichs and some buds are done. I'm just waiting for the rain to clear up and we get some sun. Wish I checked the trichs before this bout of rain. It's not raining now though and hadn't for a little while. Prime for thieves but I'm not realky worried. To much hassle for one plant and there's dogs. I may harvest in sections. I was going to do plant doctor today but it will have to he tomorrow. 9/19 It's been raining but today looks good. Treated with plant doctor. I can't say enough good things about that product. I got the trich scope out after a few friends said my plants look ready. Some buds are. That's how it goes. Buds don't all mature at once. I like a solid couch lock though. If the forecast is just going to he more rain then I'll do a selective harvest. It's about the same time the strain finished last year. Now I've got earwigs eating my buds from the bottom up. UPDATE: I found my old trich scope but couldn't find the right batteries anywhere. I wad able to buy a new one for ten bucks. I went back over having more time. After ACTUALLY checking the trichs they were mature. Obviously the whole plant can't be at the same stage but everything is nice and milky. Earwigs were starting to eat the bottom of buds and had stripped a couple lower branches. After seeing this and having a nice day where the flowers dried out and an upcoming rainy forecast I chose to harvest the majority of the blueberry plant. I left some small branches but I'm almost positive it will just turn into earwig food. Seems early to ke but looking back this was about the same time this strain was ready last year. Same problem with the ear wigs only I let them eat the while inner plant before I called it quits and took what was left after it was my finally my perfect stage. I was using a USB microscope and was being to picky. I think I made the right choice.

This one has been the second easiest harvest we ever did (back to the Purple Punch), the plant lost many leaves by herself, still pretty easy. she has a strong flavour and we literally cant wait to smoke her.

Realized just how intense manual feeding for coco is. Takes up to 3 hours to mix the nutrients, water, and wait to empty the saucers. And I'm just doing this once a day, imagine the experienced growers feeding 3+ times a day. Definitely would be ideal to have a drip/drain system installed in the future. Pheno 2 got so lanky and heavy it fell over! A scrog and bamboo sticks would've helped a ton. Placed a peony cage to support the branches but it's hard to get it angled properly with the branches grown out. Boosted the PK again this week and halved the Bloom Nutes.

Another week in Fat Yappa's Garden comes to an end with all the plants still doing well. The Bruce Banner which I snapped the stem just above the second node from the top is pretty much ready for the chop, the other two more mature plants are not too far behind, a week at most, and the Bruce Banner runt has pretty much caught up with her slightly older sisters. The Wedding Cheesecake growing in Canna Coco, which still towers above everything else in the tent at pretty much the same height as the lights, despite her tallest being bent over by LST has developed quite a lot of bud sites but not nearly as chunky as the Bruce Banners, and has started to fade with yellows and purples in the leaves and pistons. Her sister, growing in living soil is probably the furthest behind in the grow but seems to be developing a bit more like the Bruce Banners, and I put this down to the pot of the Coco Coir I used being round and much narrower than the other five, square Viviosun smart pots I used which was a bit of a fail for the LST, especially when combined with the rapid rate this plant took of at, where as I think the other was perhaps stunted a bit by being germinated in a coco coir pellet then placed in soil. I think I will try a peat pellet next time I grow in living soil and see if that improves it. The plants have remained on there same water schedule but I have noticed the more mature plants taking much less water. The most mature plant could probably go three days on 2.5l now, where as a week or two these plants had 2.5l daily over two days and then began to slow down again. I have kept the PH between 6.5 and 6.8 as I read its better for flowering to aim for the higher end of the range, especially when growing with dry amendments. Day 66 saw another compost tea, the same recipe as previously but this time I increased the bat guano from 1 to 2 tablespoons. Other than that I have continued to defoliate once a week, opening up light to the canopy and tried to open it up with a tightening of the LST ties. Stress in regard to the different stages of plant development increase as Harvest nears, as I was previously envisaging me drying in the tent and cutting the plants in a oner, but I have order a ThermPro TP50, and the rest is next weeks problem. Happy Growing one and all, thanks for following my grow and I look forward to updating you all again next week
